Writing, quote, the defendant has posted repeated inflammatory talks on the judicial system. The court, and the citizens of the district of columbia. Who comprise the jury pool in this case. The filing includes screenshots of trumps social media, as evidence. We know trumps online posts have a real world consequences, after his ranch last month, texas was arrested for threatening to kill the judge overseeing the varied case we are talking about. Trump has until September 25th to respond in court to the dojs request. Well, already lashing out at special counsel jack smith on the campaign trail, calling him deranged. Two republican revenants just last night. Then theres the question of a potential get out of jail free card. Trump isnt the front runner for the republican nomination, he could win the presidency in 2024. With, it widespread power denying power. This week, trump sat for an exclusive christian walker, heres a portion of that interview. Mister president , if you were reelected, would you pardon yourself . I could not pardon myself. You know what, i was given an option to pardon myself. I could have pardoned myself when i left. People said, would you like to pardon yourself . I had a couple of attorneys that said you can do it if you want. I had some people that said, it would look bad if you do. I think it would look terrible. I said, heres the story. These people are thugs, horrible people, fascists, marxists, sick people. Theyve been after me from the day i came down the escalator with melania. And i did a great job as president. People acknowledge, great economy, great jobs, great, this great. That we built the military, spacex, i could go on forever. Let me just tell you, i said the last thing id ever do is give myself a pardon. I couldve given myself a pardon. Dont ask me about what i would do, i could have, the last day i could have had a pardon done that would have saved me all of these lawyers and all of this thick charges, these biden indictments. They are all biden indictments. They indicted they want to arrest their political opponents. Only third world countries do that, banana republics, ready . I never said this to anybody. I was given the option, i could have done a pardon of myself. You know what i said . I have no interest in even thinking about. It i never even wanted to think about it. And i could have done it. All of these questions you are asking me about the fake charges, you wouldnt be asking me, because its a very powerful thing for a president. I was told by some people that these are sick lunatics i am dealing with, give yourself a pardon, your life will be a lot easier. I said i would never give myself a pardon. Even if you are reelected in this moment . I think its very unlikely. What did i do wrong . I didnt do anything wrong. Do you mean because i challenged an election they want to put me in jail . Remember, that is just a portion, you can see the full conversation tomorrow morning, 10 30 a. M. Eastern, on nbc. On a note, Meet The Press also extends an invitation to President Biden to sit down with welker. Starting us off this saturday, msnbc political contributor, eugene daniels, hes a White House Reporter and coauthor of the Playbook Newsletter for politico. Also with us, former prosecutor, Charles Coleman. Hes an msnbc legal analyst and hosts the Charles Coleman podcast. Its good to see you both. Eugene, im gonna start with. You what do you make of trumps political calculation, or at least his stated political calculation, saying he would not pardon himself because it would, quote, looked terrible . I mean, hes right. It would look terrible. If that had happened when he had been testing the abilities upon whether or not a president can pardon oneself. You know as well, the conversation when people thought that might be a possibility. But it would also say, donald trump sometimes lies. Or goes back and goes back on his word. So its possible, if he were president , he would pardon himself, depending on how these four cases are shaking out at that time. And more importantly, whether or not he wanted to change his mind at that time. Donald trump is very good at saying the, quote, unquote, right thing. Something that people think he has gotten right to that edge, to pull back just a little bit. Hes very talented in that way, as a politician. I think that is something that folks havent given him enough credit for, is his political instincts in that way. He knows when he might be going too far. And how far he wants to go. I think thats something were going to continue to see. I think walkers interview there, i cant wait to see the rest of it. Theres all types of places where donald trump also tells on himself when he is doing these kinds of interviews. Im going to marry two pieces of what you said there. He is known for lying, and he also can be politically astute and calculate when it is time for one of those lies. Charles, lets talk about the request for a gag order. Federal prosecutors have already managed to limit trumps comments about the maralago case. How might the d. C. Case be different . Well, alicia, i think in this case, what we are going to see from judge chutkan, ultimately, is a very calculated response to the order. I think when Donald Trumps attorneys respond, they are going to argue that this is going to infringe upon his First Amendment rights. They are going to emphasize the idea that hes running for president , hes a candidate, the leading candidate in the republican primary. Therefore, he should be allowed to say certain things, even if they do include comments about his political opponents. The brilliance of jack smiths request, however, is that they dont really talk about his political opponents. Because they focus on people who are officially ends of the proceedings, the trial, the judges, potential witnesses, juries, court officers, and other people who should not be open fodder for Donald Trumps commentary. I do expect that to some portion of the request is going to be granted. I think its going to be very different, because you are dealing with, in judge chutkan, an extremely different to judge who is going to keep donald trump on a tighter latch, as compared to judge cannon down in south florida. Eugene, lets proceed with this possibility. We know the former president spends a whole lot of time and his political rallies, talking about this. So what would those restrictions on trumps speech, if this narrow gag order is allowed, what would it mean for his campaign . What would it mean for him out on the stump . It takes away some of the fame from donald trump. His favorite thing to do is to attack people he sees as his opponents. Whether that be actual opponents in the political sense, folks that are trying to take the job of president , or at least the nomination away from him. But also, people like jack smith. He said right before we started here, he is continuing to call jack smith deranged, in both rallies, to folks behind the scenes, tweeting excuse me, social true thing, those things over and over again. It is hard to see, or even imagine a world in which donald trump is not able to do that. It would be a nightmare for both him, but more importantly, the folks around him who have to help craft his message and remind him before he goes out, sir, please dont say x y and z about a bnc. You cant do that anymore. Whether or not that actually happens, well have to see how the judge rules here. But it would create an entirely Different Campaign for him. Because, he is banking on the folks who are in the Republican Party, especially those who are already in his camp, saying, yes, that judge, that special counsel, those people are trying to get to him. They want to get to us. That is, that would take a lot away from his argument for presidency. Charles, a reminder, there are multiple paths here to accountability. Another for mom of voters filed a lawsuit this week to remove trump from the lawsuit. I want you to take a listen to what one State Official says about those challenges. In the situation where some states permit the name to appear on the ballot and other states disqualify it, theres going to be chaos, confusion, anger, and frustration. That would be the result. Either a 14th Amendment Disqualification applies across the board, or it does not. Of course, that is a republican, your sense of how this plays out in the core, charles . I do think that the former Secretary Of State there is correct, in as much as if there is a 14th Amendment Barring of donald trump from any ballot, i do think that applies across the board. However, the ultimate thing that i will say about this, alicia, is i dont see it happening. I dont think that they are going to get that 14th amendment barred. Heres why. There is no standard set by the constitution as to what actually constitutes insurrection. He has not been charged, at least not yet, by the doj, and jack smith, with the crime of insurrection. So the idea of disqualifying him for something he has not actually been charged and convicted of is really going to be a hurdle that they will have to get over, in all of these lawsuits. Each of these lawsuits is going to have a different standard of proof from a civil perspective, then they would criminally. Because he hasnt even been charged, the easiest argument to avoid this is going to be, you cannot establish that ive committed this at a level that would require invoking the 14th amendment. That is going to be the argument cut and dry. I expect why we wont see very much of this once its all actually heard in court. I dont think that the argument is going very far. But if somehow they were to prevail, in any given state, i do believe that it would ultimately apply across the board. Eugene, i just want to shift to another big story from this week. You had a member of the House Freedom caucus calling the biden Impeachment Inquiry, quote, a disgrace to the constitution, and a disservice to americans. What is going on here . Yeah, you have tim buck from colorado who has continued to kind of Throw Cold Water on this. Continue to Throw Cold Water on the impeachment, in that oped he wrote that came out this morning. He essentially says that there is no smoking gun, that after years of investigations, after years of republicans looking into joe bidens behavior when it comes to his son, Hunter Bidens, business bills, in the nationally internationally. Essentially, republicans need to move. On this is one of the folks who is on the front lines, in what is essentially a blue state, at this point. Theyre trying to get the republicans to say, hey, the impeachment that we want to do, impeaching joe biden, trying to do things in this political way are not working for us. There are better ways to do this, maybe we should move on. No one is hearing him though. You obviously see most of the republicans in the Republican Party in the house moving forward with this, including Kevin Mccarthy, who is kind of bid to the will of folks like mike gates and Marjorie Taylor greene whove been wanting to see this Impeachment Inquiry. But can, back alone, one of the loudest voices in his partys telling them to chill out when it comes to his impeachment. Charles coleman, as always, thank you for getting us started. Why making the case for the president s Economic Division is going to be key for democrats. Plus, House Republicans digging in a political retaliation with 3 million kids at risk of losing their childcare. California congresswoman, sarah jacobs, on how to break through the noise. And later, new reporting on fox news being a Driving Force behind the biden Impeachment Inquiry. Theyre wanted for ratings, what about the American People who still trust them . First Richard Louis with the other big stories we are tracking this hour. Richard . Members of the United Auto Workers union on strike halting production at auto plants a klas Michigan Ohio and missouri. This comes after a labor deal between the union and general motors, ford, and chryslers parent company, expired on thursday. Uaw is demanding higher wages, shorter work weeks, and job security. Given the rise of electric vehicles, it all depends on how long the strike lasts, of course. But it could drive up car prices in Trigger Ripple Effects across the entire economy. And the supply chain. Given the economys role in every election, and voters tend to vote on how they feel about the economy, instead of what the stats show. The president is on the road, talking to americans about where we are the bidenomics. Warning, what could happen if the economy is put in the hands of republicans. We have the lowest Inflation Rate of any major economy in the world, the Inflation Rate the last three months of 2. 4 . Weve got more to do. Even though we created 800,000 manufacturing jobs. Manufacturing boom we havent seen in decades. Even though america, is the strongest economy in the world. America has the strongest economy in the world. Of all major economics. All they do is attack it. But, you notice something. For all the time they spend attacking me and my plan, heres what they never do. They never talk about what they want to do. Eugene daniels is back, and joining us, democratic strategist, michael larosa, he served as former Special Assistant to prompts it in obama and was former Press Secretary for first lady jill biden. Eugene, theres a harris poll conducted for the guardian, it finds that two thirds of americans say it is difficult to be happy about positive Economic News when they feel financially squeezed each month. That includes 69 of republicans, 68 of democrats. Talk about this disconnect between the actual economy, and the Economy Voters perceive, and how the Biden Administration tackles that reality. The Biden Administration has gotten better at this, in finally acknowledging that, hey, we have all these numbers, inflation is going down, unemployment is down. All of these things, people have more jobs. Wages are going up. All of these different aspects that if you were president , youd say thats what you want in being able to say you have a good economy. And now, saying we know that is not enough for folks, that people are feeling it. For a while, that wasnt the case. There was not only the disconnect, they werent speaking to that. That has changed in recent weeks and months. You have President Biden out on the road, talking about bidenomics. But hes also saying, we have more to do, pardon the Reelection Campaign its finish the job, quote, unquote. Its what the campaign has continued to say. I will say, it almost doesnt matter what the numbers are. If people arent feeling that, if democrats arent feeling that, if independents are feeling that, then they may not go to the polls, and they may not or they may vote for someone else. Because saying we gave you a chance, we dont feel this way. That is something that politicians for years have had to deal with, that sometimes feelings matter much more than facts, when it comes to elections. Especially in president ial elections. Whether its trump and biden, maybe that changes things. However, this administration has been hard on the road, and will continue to do that for the next until next november, talking about the things theyve done, and how its better now than it was when they first got into office. Whether or not that actually works, and voters actually believe, that that is going to depend on how good they are at selling. It speaking of that sales pitch, michael, one of the things i found particularly persuasive about what the president said, and the remarks we just listened to, its the idea of, what you got . You dont like our plan, fine. Let us hear yours. Which seems particularly relevant when you have republicans barreling the government towards a potential shutdown with a September 30th deadline. How do they capitalize on that message . How did they say, fine, republicans dont like our plan, what is theirs . How do they force their hand . Well, a couple of things. First of all, the president is eugenes right, actually. So, we are better off than we were four years ago. The stats prove that. The president s policies are working. Weve come a long way, from where we were in january 2021. We have Small Businesses open, we have our economy reopen, we have students back in the classrooms, and we have had the administration administered the most historic the most successful and historic vaccination of an entire country, ever. And, the big answer to the question, we are better off than we were four years ago. That said, i want to say this, alicia. The biden white house, and democrats, theres an old Obama Communications staffer phrase called, we meet people where they are. When we hear that a lot from the white house. The problem is, voters are not sitting in a stanford or m. I. T. Micro economics theory class. Right . If they cant see or feel the economy in their bank account, or in their wallets, they dont care. Its one of the things its one of the reasons why i really dont believe in that old theory from 30 years ago, that it is the economy i actually dont put much believe in that. I think 2022 shows that. Had people really voted with their pocketbook, or on the economy in 2022, with a record 40 year high inflation, the Democratic Party and joe biden would not have been would have been punished for it. And they werent. We actually expanded our seats in the senate, and have over performance in the house. You know what, john kerry in 2004, he would have won ohio. Because ohio then had record unemployment. Im not a big believer in a term that the economy is the best theme to run on. Republicans put democrats on their heels, like we saw in virginia, with glenn youngkin. When they Lightning Rod and used wedge issues like education, in virginia, to win. Or, when ron desantis uses culture wars to win in florida. Or when republican ad makers used crime in the suburbs of new york to win congressional seats. To feed off of peoples emotions and fears. That is how they win. I think we need our own wedge issue. I dont know if the economy is the best message at this point, because its not moving the dial or the numbers in any poll you see. Eugene, i have a slightly different analysis, which is all of that Economic Framework actually in 2022 should have given republicans an opportunity in that mid term, not for the fact that they chose to run on a whole series of what many people would call social issues, whether that was immigration, whether that was abortion. Instead of just focusing on a core message, they decided to make this about a number of things. And on top of that, they ran a number of candidates who are also arguing that our elections were not fair and free, despite the fact that that had been disproven. Im not sure that i dont believe this is about the economy, so much as i believe republicans have not shown the discipline to make it about any one single issue. Yeah, i mean, they take on the leaders ethos. The way that donald trump operates is not disciplined. He is someone who goes by his gut. He will tell you that. He has said that his entire, both political career, his career as a reality star, and his career as a real estate mogul in new york. That he goes with his gut. You have him in 2022 playing around in the republican primaries, not only to those candidates say that 2020 was stolen, which is untrue, but they also, like you were saying, focused on abortion, focused on these wedge issues. Focused on things that have juice to move a lot of republicans. At the same time, because of how farright the republicans have been on some of these things, they do not move independents to the republicans. That is what we are seeing in 2022. Its what weve seen in 2023, and a lot of these special elections and different elections around abortion referendum. That is what the democrats are hoping to continue in the 2024. Michael and eugene, as always, thank you both for your time. Next, priorities, House Republicans are laser focused on the president and his son. What about the 3 million kids who are going to lose child care if the government shuts down . We are going to talk to Congressman Mitt california congresswoman, sara jacobs, about it. Stay with us. Also available in sheets if action speak louder than words, the republicans appear to think the only important issue facing americas impeachment of President Biden. Not the millions who would be left in the dust if the government shuts down october 1st. If a deal is not reached, and federal funding expires, among the consequences, 3 million kids lose access to child care. This week, democrats introduced the Childcare Stabilization Act to prevent that from happening. Allocating 16 Billion Dollars to fund childcare yearly for the next five years. The plan would prevent parents from leaving the work force to care for their kids, it would save an estimated 2000 Childcare Workers from losing their jobs. The hurdle, of course, getting republicans to support. It with us now, california congresswoman, sara jacobs, representative jacobs, i want you to explain whats at stake here for both families and the u. S. Economy as a whole. Yeah, so, in 2021, when it was very clear to everyone that the Childcare Sector was about to collapse, democrats came together in the American Rescue plan, passed Emergency Childcare funding that allowed the Childcare Sector to stay open and to be able to serve families through the pandemic. That Emergency Funding is about to expire in two weeks. If we dont do something. Thats why its so important that we pass this Childcare Stabilization Act. So, as you said, 3 million kids could lose access to child care. In california alone, that is 80,000 kids who would lose access to child care. We would have workers not being able to go to work because they dont have the childcare they need. Small businesses that often is women and women of color who run these childcare Small Businesses, would go out of businesses. We already lose around a trillion dollars a year in gdp. Because of parents not being able to get the care they need to be able to go to work. That number would only get exponentially worse, if this funding isnt passed. Republicans last year of course let the Child Tax Credit expire. Here is President Biden, this week, addressing the consequences of that. Take a listen. Maga Republican Congress did not support continuing that extended tax cut. This week, we learned what happened as a result of a position. 300 million more kids are now living in poverty before they restored the Child Tax Credit, once again, lifted kids out of poverty. I want to ask you two questions, one is there any chance of the Child Tax Credit being restored . And, to how do you contend with the fact the policies are put in place, they work, they are shown to be effective at doing the very thing that people like you say they will do. Then you have republican colleagues say, not good enough, not going to extend it. We are still looking for any way we can to extend the Child Tax Credit, and put it back in place. We saw how successful it was. But unfortunately, as you said, it looks like republicans have no interest in even coming to the table and talking to us about what might be possible. We have not heard a single republican talk about this childcare cliff. Weve not talked heard a single republican talk about the Child Tax Credit expiring, and all of these kids going back into poverty. To me, it makes no sense. You think lifting kids out of poverty would be the most basic thing that we as a government could agree to do. Not to mention, all of my colleagues like to talk about fiscal responsibility, well, the federal government actually saves 6 for every 1 that we invest in quality early childcare programs. So this would actually save us money in the long term. We see that it works. We saw that it worked. To me, it is absolutely ludicrous that ive colleagues who refused to even come to the table and talk about reinstating it. I want to just paint a full picture for our viewers of what is happening to kids in america. Particularly what is happening to lowincome kids. State started rolling back medicaid coverage this year, causing over 1 million kids to Lose Health Care across 38 states. That is just so far, a lot of this is bureaucracy. Its technicalities. Its people not being able to get back on the roles. When you look at the full picture, childcare, kids being kicked off of medicaid. The fact that we had a Child Tax Credit that actually lifted kids out of poverty, what does it say about the state of priorities of the Republican Party, that none of those things, you talk about being pro family, you talk about being, quote, unquote, pro baby, now that they know prolife is not working for them as a moniker. Yet, they cannot get behind these very simple and effective policies. Not to mention, we are currently negotiating the farm bill, and they are trying to cut School Lunch Bills and healthy Food Programs for kids as well. I think its clear that republicans like to say a lot of things, but at the end of the day, the only thing they care about is getting tax cuts for their wealthy donors, and the big corporations to find them. And not about the American People, not about making the cost of living actually lower for the American People. Certainly not helping americas children, because if they did, it would be clear that they would be working with us to pass these Common Sense Proposals that we have seen actually work. California congresswoman, sara jacobs, we are going to be watching as this Legislation Moves to the house. Thank you so much for taking the time to be with us. Yes, it goes all the way back to trumps first impeachment, actually. One of the pieces of it disinformation, misinformation that we are dealing with through the rightwing media back then was that when joe biden was Vice President , he used his position to get a ukrainian general prosecutor fired, so that he could in some way protect Hunter Bidens business deals. Which they allege he is in on. That was something that trump was acting on. Trump, of course, the consumer of rightwing media, took that, then actually leverage that against the ukrainian government, when he tried to get them to launch a probe into joe biden. As joe biden began to become his opponent. Which led to Donald Trumps impeachment. So, this is literally the same core piece of misinformation. Jim jordan on fox news reflected that out saying that theyre single best evidence for the Impeachment Inquiry is this idea that joe biden used his position of power to somehow get to the prosecutor fired to protect hunter biden. In a way, this isnt new. Its the same thing regurgitated. Thats because right after joe biden got inaugurated, fox news, alone, did more than 3618 segments about hunter biden since joe bidens inauguration. Theyve just perpetuated this myth that there is something corrupt there, and that theres going to need to be a cause for action or impeachment. It goes all the way back to when trump was the president , to be honest. Heres the thing, after dominion, after the controversies that fox has been through, i wonder what you make of their lingering influence, on not only republican politicians, but on republican policies, agendas . They are in a weird position. They are sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place. Theyve lost about 30 of their audience so they have lost a little bit of their leverage and power. Thats not just reflected in the daytoday news cycle. They dont have the same uplift that they had historically. There are others now that can get things pushed into the rightwing zeitgeist, to sort of pressure republican politicians into picking up their narratives. They are not the lone player anymore, as they. Were they had monopoly in the past. Thats one factor. You have these fringes, even further than fox, that are out there able to leapfrog fox news. And directly inject something into the republican zeitgeist that then fox has to chase after. Thats the first thing. Theyre not the lone player. They dont get to be the sole decisionmaker anymore. Theyre trying to straddle all these realities. The business realities, theyre trying to hold on to their audience, theyre trying to keep the political power. That is affecting the coverage. But at the end of the day, its still basically the same fox news. They were calling for joe bidens impeachment, literally, they used the word preemptive impeachment before joe biden was even elected president. He was still running against donald trump. Fox news host back then were saying, we should the republicans should launch a preemptive impeachment effort against joe biden in case he winds. All we are really seeing is the fruition of something that has always been core to fox. And since dominion, yeah, theyve had to navigate some political fall back, but i said it in the wake of it, i still think its playing out day today, fox news is burning brighter and hotter. It is just, theres a lot of other players out there burning hotter too. I dont think we all realize just how hot theyve gotten. Weve got about a minute left, but i do want to go back to something you said, which is if what they are trying to do is create this sense among their viewers that the impeachments were talking about our apples to apples, when they are not even apples to oranges or apples to kittens, its apples compared to an apple that does not actually exist in the real world. How then, do you undercut that . How do you get back to the truth . Part of it is that this is a much deeper question for our society. In reality, what we are facing in front of us is actually more like fringe warfare. We wont solve this conflict in a single conflict, single narrative, single news cycle. We are going to have to run through the storm, this is going to be on the margin. Right, now theyre succeeding because they created the pressure enough. The republicans launch this, we have to talk about this now because its a reality. But in the long term, we have to continue to neutralize fox news is destructive power. Thats by not letting them keep the system the way they do. There has to be consequences. Others have to change the way they interact with fox news. We cant treat it like its a legitimate news operation, when in fact, it has fully exposed itself, since dominion, as a political operation. That has to be the fundamental. Nothing can really sustainably change, unless we actually, all of us, actually change the way we deal with, talk with, and think about fox. They are not a news operation. Today marks one year since the death of 22yearold, mahsa amini in iran. She was arrested for supposedly violating irans strict laws requiring women to cover their hair in public. And died in police custody. Amini death led to demonstrations all across iran, with protesters demanding an end to the law and the countrys repressive islamic bureaucracy. And took on the name the mahsa movement. Security forces crackdown on the demonstrations, killing at least 500 protesters and arresting thousands. Solidarity protests popped up worldwide, with aminis Face Lighting up a billboard in times square, painted on murals in berlin and paris. Another demonstration is scheduled this afternoon in los angeles. Of the strategic litigation project and Atlantic Council and max amini. We thank you so much for being here. Gissou, remind us how mahsa amini, arrest, how her death led to the protest and the threat they pose to the government in the country. I think what we saw last fall was that after this tragic killing of mahsa four amini in custody of the morality police, it sort of triggered mass protest. It began in the kurdish region, where she is from. But it quickly spread across the country. You saw women, men, women coming out, cutting their hair, throwing their mandatory head jobs into bonfires in defiance of the Islamic Republics gender discriminatory laws. And the population alongside them calling for death to the dictator, down with the regime. This is very clearly an Anti Government movement. And the iranian people have said that they want the regime gone. Max, i want you to talk us through that volatile moment, and what it meant being a member of the Community Watching from the United States, trying to process and understand what it would mean for iran, but also how people here in the United States could stand in solidarity with protesters in iran. Absolutely. It means the world to us. Its been 44 years that iranians have been suffering, and feel like they are in jail from this government. This is not an overnight scenario. This has been a very painful journey for all iranians. We have fleet our country because we dont have a safe environment, we dont have a government that is there for the people. When the apprise happened, everybody was extremely hopeful, to this day, we are very, very hopeful. We know for a fact that the that this government eventually is going to not be able to sustain this a prize. So, we are hoping to see that fall, sooner than later. Gissou, you meant max both said something i want to pick up on. It is this idea that very often, we see a movement rise up, we see a hashtag, and it dissipates as quickly as it emerges. So, it is notable that this has been a year, not only of sustained action, but where we have actually seen action and attention to this girl. What has that required both inside of iran and outside . Inside iran, i think the fact that protesters were so bold in the ways that they protested, that they used street heart, that they used graffiti, that they did forms of public demonstration involving hair, and hijabs. I think that led to a lot of visuals that captured the globes attention. So, although we had successive waves of protests in the country, prior to this, those had never really captured the global attention in the way that this did. But i will say that also, the folks on the outside, the Iranian Diaspora have organized and incredible ways to make sure that they are heard by foreign ministries around the world. That they are heard by heads of state. Iranian americans in this country have been organizing to get legislation passed, in congress, in a grassroots manner, that staffers tell me theyve never seen. So, theres been a lot of mobilization on the outside, and ill know that people on the inside, including leading activist, have said that because of the repressive nature, the repressive regime they are facing inside the country, they do want us to play that role. So, it involves outside and inside. Max, to that point, saying in the New York Times arguing there are trying to suppress the mahsa movement, the stronger activists become, the closer they get to throwing the repressive government. I wonder if you agree. Yes, of course. We all feel this. I think anybody feels it around the world. Thats why we are here having this conversation. And to add a few things about what gissou beautifully mentioned, is that the economy run is so bad, and people are living in such poverty, its multiple things coming together and making it really difficult to live under this government. So, eventually, people have to stand up for a better life. We are here, as iranians, outside of iran, really recognizing this, and trying to support as much as we can. As part of the diaspora that we talked about, it also strikes me, gissou, that obviously women have played in all of this, the central ot of women. I imagine, as much as that means to the movement itself, there is also a cultural shift that inevitably happens when women step to the forefront of a social movement. Absolutely. This has been described as a first femaleled revolution. What i should say is that the whole of iran was supporting this. This is not only about women, of course, i think what it did is really recognize that culturally, in iran, we have misogyny and patriarchy everywhere around the globe. What is really distinct about the Islamic Republic is that that Gender Discrimination is enshrines in the laws. That makes it an outlier. In the company of countries like thats the thing that we really want to get across. And the women who are so bravely still racing their voices, even today, where fema prisoners were organizing Anti Mandatory Hijab protests from within president. Thats the kind of message they want to get across. Max, i only have about 20 seconds left. I do want to ask you, on the one year anniversary, this is a point where we come back to this story as a member of the diaspora who has been active in making sure that the story does not fall out of the headlines, what more do you plan in the year ahead . I just want to encourage all non iranians, americans, europeans, everybody in the world to come together and support the voice of voiceless. I think this was a global effort, i think its a humanitarian issue that everybody cares for. I really hope to see more of that.
