We also understand that this was car rid by the Rapid Action Battalion and that was now placed there ahead of the raid and of course the concern is the unexploded devices still inside of the restaurant and in the past sort of 20 to 30 minutes about 10 30 its been quiet. We have only known of five hostages confirmed to be rescued and up until now only one person rushed away by ambulance. Okay. Stick with us. I do want to go back to bangladesh give us an dapt of what is happening . Well, the situation is now resolved. The operation took place starting about 7 40 local time. Did the police say anything about the attackers . Are they apprehended or killed . So far they have not released a statement and were trying to get the information whether youre dead, captured or fled. Theres no information on that just yet come to light. Of course, once were within i dont know the next hour or so that information will start to trickle out. I think Law Enforcement obviously wants to be able to control the siltation and sort of have all of it and the information lined up before releasing any official statements. Were trying to get that information, but we have not seen it yet. I know that you have reporters on the ground but have they been able to tell you that they saw any hostages that have been freed . They have eyewitness accounts of hostages that are freed. The number that i got is up to ten. We were hearing five and then i was talking to the ground from the tribune and they said they believe ten people. Okay. Stay would you say. Continue with the great reporting on all of these developments as they continue to develop and emerge. I want to cross back over to cal perry that i understand has more information for us obviously. Cal, a lot of information coming out and as were hearing theres sometimes confusing descriptions and not necessarily wrong, but maybe conflicting in that you can hear explosions but the situation is resolved. Yeah, both of those things are trurks and lets remind the viewers of the stage and a lot of information can be in correct and theres a lot of confusion and i mentioned that the bomb Disposal Unit is in place. Possible that theyre blowing everything possible. Local media is reporting and local media and not confirmed by nbc news but five to have attackers were killed. One has been captured alive, and that two are missing. Now, that would give us eight attackers. We thought it was eight or nine attackers. Local media is reporting that five were killed and two missing and one captured. Not confirmed by nbc news. We will work on confirming that. How does that change the nature of this operation if its resolved from one perspective that they no longer pose a threat and they have two potential takers on the run now. Yeah thats the critical part. You want to make sure that the two missing are not those that walked out and said that i was a hostage and took off the gear and now placing the hostage to get out. You want to ascertain that in the beginning. Where are the whereabouts . How are they missing . Maybe theyre hiding within the building and the compound and it will have to be thoroughly searched. Theyre not going disappear into thin air. They claim that it was tight early. There are a lot of soldiers around there and of course you could shed the clothes and maybe walk through in the chaos. That remains to be seen. Thats very disturbing, and the good news is that people ten people missing and it was up to 40 people being held and that could be 20 or 30 killed. I agree that probably the bomb squad was counter charging to get the suicide vest and whatever theyre using and they want to make sure that they render them safe and shoot them with the disrun or th. Yeah, if youre joining us now its a rapid situation and you got the reports of the is operation under way and then there were bursts and then a lull of activity and then another round of explosions according to the two explosions there within the last couple of years. For them to come out and say that the situation is resolved and not yet saying that its over and then the initial reports that some of the hostage takers may have managed to escape. Yeah, thats fased to this. Were there eight to nine hostage takers. We may have seven. One was taken in as a suspect and then one captured here and then five dead. Until they do a capacity of that place, jim is absolutely right and we saw this a lot in our hostage situation and you usually have a terrorists that may be scheduled to come from a hostage situation by taking off the gear and putting a hood on them and putting him in with the rest of the hostages. They have to be isolated and interrogated and see if they were part of that. The best thing is to cross reference other hostages. Now, a bangladesh born journalists and then let me get your reaction to this as were now hearing from journalists on the ground that the situation may have been resolved. This is according to the Police Commanders and your reaction to this situation as it unfolds. Well i feel like we can not trust any information thats coming on now. Its so fluid and you dont know what the government wants us to do. We know that theyre trying to contain the information. I would be very skeptical and any reports that the situation is under control. I would like to say that the people behind this attack and the organization that claim to be islamic in any way and i am not an expert and i want to point out to the viewers but its the holy month. Is there a media black out or are they telling them this is what we know and this is what is happening . Well i think its an unprecedented information. I dont know what is created and what the Law Enforcement has in this. Its been chaotic and its not organized research and then most of the information which my reports have been able to view and got from the officers that are there. I think that its been fairly chaotic. I any also that perhaps understandable given the magnitude of the incident and nothing in the sky is hitting a curve. There was another hostage situation back in 2009 and there were different circumstances and i think perhaps the communication is not been as forthcoming. I think that Law Enforcement will confirm that its too much information was in fact with the press and that would in fact curve the operation. All right. Let me ask you this if i can about isis. The isis is claiming the responsibility and we have not in deben dentally confirmed that. The state department here in the United States is not willing to say or able to say that they believe that claim of responsibility to be true. Was there a concern by the Bangladesh Government or the society that isis in fact or other extremist groups like al qaeda and was there a concern that any of the groups could have an organizational credit in the country. This is a big concern. Its a very real concern, and theres a lot of evidence out there to suggest that this is the case. We have and in this particular case this is the and theres the statements before the offensively and then from isis and that seemed to be very hard to authenticate a hundred percent. Never the less, is the attacks and the claims that have been made by isis in the late attacks over the last several months. The evidence seems to be that theres some kind of a presence here and it could be one of those that theres Operational Partnership and people that are inspired by you. Thats become a real concern and its ultimately for us and whether its the whole military. Its the global reach and ultimately the fact is that whoever they are and i think thats the real concern and i think that to want theres a speculation on what theyre capable of. I have never seen anything like this before. How is tonight and somehow what were going to see regardless of what is behind it, how do you anticipate that changing the tone of the current government . I mean the government is not saying that its been isolated incident and theres a connection with the global terrorists movement, but its constantlyayg that we have this problem knocked on the head and they did and started a drive i think it was about a couple of weeks ago and then since then arrested and then 14 or 15,000 people. Our sources say that most of the people arrested did not have much to do with this kind of activity. By the same tocken the Law Enforcement was saying that they have arrested these people and were not going to see any more kind of this activity moving forward. Clearly thats not the case. Clearly thats not the case. Hopefully this will serve as a wake up call and it will serve as a message that we really need to unite as a country and all of us need to get together and the opposition, you name it. Its not the time for anyone to get it from anyone else. Were all in this. Hopefully the government is picking up the crisis and crisis is not an exaggerated term but important. Okay. Some of the liberal sags and people in there and active for lgbt rights. These are the victims that are going around and picking them up. The bigger lesson and malcom is an expert on this but when you look at the ability of isis to telegraph and other places around the world, this kind of action, we may solve this moment today but i mean that is the ongoing viral problem of the copy cats and others looking at this is something that, you know, the world is going to continue to struggle with. Well, with before the raid happened 30 minutes before we heard a commotion on the streets and looked out and saw some huge mob of journalists men with video cameras being pushed away from the scene. Now, seems like that was probably in preparation of the raid. We have just seen a couple of minutes ago them all being let back so 60 or 65 journalists with cameras are walking towards the scene, so i guess that the perimeter is open and theyre allowing the journalists. Yeah, thats consistent with what were hearing from who was reporting earlier and that according to the scene and certainly for the journalists and then the other portion of this may have been colluded. Clearly i think it is and then its correct. Like malcom said they have to verify was there more or captured more or established that there was more. Certainly they have to resolve the situation safely now to allow the journalists and then the police view and then this thing is over. So that report of missing terrorists may have been resolved from the commanders on the ground in some fashion. Its for the further capture of those hiding shot or killed them. Looks like its over and the controlled ek plosions by the bomb squad and then the disrupting device Social Security an indication as well. Yeah that may have been what we heard. They have been covering this as well and then and i think that were going to be losing you shortly. But whats the status of the remaining hostages . We heard early on that the number could have been 40 or 20. You were reporting that ten had been rescued accord to go the Police Commander on the scene and any indication of information about the remaining hostages. Nothing is clearly breeched. I think that the number to some extent is the wait er that was in the restaurant when it was stormed. It was nine last night and then in bangladesh time. I believe they have come online and posted offensively by the Islamic State and then those are from inside of the restaurant of many kinds. They showed up to its hard to tell but eight or nine dead bodies. It could be as many as ten. Cannot see the bodies in certain pictures. Its ten people out and beyond that, i dont really have a concrete information to share and there will be a press briefing from Law Enforcement shortly. Not just with our military and the special Operations Command but the training efforts that are carried out regionally and with the United States sponsored that and then its in india and whatever countries are in the immediate area. Then we will have the fbi and other local teams sponsored to come out and do that training. Now, clearly you have seen what we have seen tonight. What you saw was the Rapid Action Battalion and thats the joint military unit and the vehicles that they use and everyone some of them had the United Nations peace keep asking the markings on them. They had the bring in these very heavy elements just to safely move these prior military officers off of there. What you see tomorrow is the global weight terrorism offer to professionalize the bangladesh authorities to create a real Rapid Response thats going come in and do complex operations in a larger scale and complex hostage barricade in the future. Local Bangladesh Media is reported 34 injured people have been transported to a local hospital there in the capital i should say and being treated right now as a result of this ongoing operation. We have not independently reported that and thats the information that the media is reporting. Its not clear if the 34 was a result of the immediate breech and then the operation that was lead by the police and then its the overall tally of all of these injured since the ordeal began nearly 12 hours ago and with the initial hostage taking at that cafe. Let me just make a quick comment about that. They remove the secondary perimeter to allow the media to run up there. I dont know if you have seen live television, but theyre going have some photographs here. They tend to do the Police Briefing and walk them right through the site. Evidence be dammed and then show the bodies of the dead terrorists. Yeah, we will be mindful of that and as you mentioned we remember aware of the pictures that were circumstance lating online and that were distributed by isis media and twitter accounts. We were mindful of that and then also that may have been a factor in the calculation of the hostage and maybe the Police Commander on the scene. If youre joining us now within the past two hours saturday morning began in bangladesh with the country waking up to the news that a poplar restaurant in one of the more upscaled neighborhoods a porsche neighborhood has been over run by hostage takers. 40 people were held hostage over the course of the night. Early this morning according to local reporters that were briefed by the police on this scene police regan to move the personal and their vehicles and other resources towards the scene. That restaurant and began about 7 40 a. M. Local time according to eyewitnesses. The operation lead for about 90 minutes and as we understand it accord to go the police and telling local bangladesh journal that were speaking to the situation has been resolved following the sounds and explosions and gunfire. What we know is that ten people and hostages to have been rescued. The hostage takers not clear on the numbers but five attackers killed. One captured alive. Two are possibly missing. Thats consistent with what were hearing from some of those that paged to escape and theyre saying that there are anywhere from six to eight hostage takers and were getting the information that now suggest that five of the hostage takers and the attackers were killed and one was captured and possibly two remain on the run. 34 people are being treated in local area hospitals and this is according to local Bangladesh Media that are reporting that some of those that have been wounded have been taken to a local area hospital. Ste steve, if youre with us lets talk the current climate over bang will desh. We have seen an individual of attac attacks. Nobody has said that they have seen anything like that and this dramatic scene. I am curious to get the thoughts on how this changed the United States or perhaps the west perspective in dealing with isis if in fact that turns out to be isis. The reason that we say is that because theres a claim of responsibility out there and theres some images of victims that were circumstance lated earlier this evening and a tributed to isis affiliated social media accounts and if theres a claim of responsibility is valid and we have not confirmed and if its valid, how is it going to change the perception of isis in both of the United States as well as the countries that are at war with it from western europe . Its a big action of bangladesh into the west map of dealing with isis. It changes the game to a certain ex tent. It extends the map and our world and national security. There was this morning and yesterday morning bangladesh time a priest that was hacked to death. I dont know who did that and if there was a person that did that. We know that 14 people have been brought out alive and then its possibly risen and that number may go up and then thats five dead bodies and its pulled from the site and we understand the government is going make a statement in the next hour or so and then the government is forming and then the Law Enforcement agency is part of this operation. If you talk about five dead bodies do we believe the five dead bodies are hostages or they could include attackers . Yeah, it maybe both or a combination and i dont want to speculate. I cannot confirm it, so i think i would rather stay on the safe side and that there are five dead bodies and 14 live rescue from the site and then a number of those and living people rescue from the site may go up. I cannot confirm the number 14. I thats what we have been told. Do you whether they were hostages or not, we dont know. Do you have any information on these 34 people that may have been injured or also may have been involved or rescued as the operation. Do you have any consistent with that number as well . Well, we dont have a number yet. We have received some conflicting reports and then gain i like to be cautious and not saying anything just yet. Among those being treated at least one of them was true and foreign nationals and then its not clear were getting a lot of the information and then the site has not been opened up yechlt its still within the situation and the officials have not made a Public Statement on what is going on for the last 16 hours or so. Yeah were going to stay online and find out what they have to say. We have not heard from the government since the operation began other than through the police on the scene and speaking to local reporters. I am curious to get the reports if you have a reading from the contact and sources and government and then the government believes that was behind the attack. Its the transnational terrorists organization.
