year before. there was a lot of volatility racially. how did this incredible thing get started? >> this is one of my favorite things about this story. the fact that, yes, it's a movie about "sesame street". but it really is a story of this group of performers, writers, educators, who came out of this tumultuous point in our country. the protest against the vietnam were in full stream e steam. the women's movement was starting the civil rights movement was burgeoning. this group got together, we want to make a difference reach under served children. >> we want to add, it meant so much to me to get on this show. because i was raised in the bronx, watching hours of television. never seeing any puerto ricans on television or latin people on television and feeling invisible. so when they asked me to be on this show, i thought, oh my goodness, i can be for kids what i wished someone was there for
