i -- elections project. professor stewart, it's an honor to have you with us tonight. >> it's good to be here, thanks for having me. >> let me first ask you if -- if i'm asking the right questions looking at the right universe of concerns. the kind of framing that i put up, the way i set it up, do you think it's the right way to look at it? >> there is a big concern here which is the undermining of american democracy. look, it is commonplace but it is important to note that we are a nation of laws, not of people, and we have ways of running elections. those are set in stone and really run the elections by those laws. we have done this for hundreds of years. a couple hundred years. that is how democracy's work. especially american democracies.
