served as a law clerk for john paul stevens, a justice appointed by gerald ford. after two years in a washington d. c. law firm, leondra kruger join the u.s. solicitor general's office where she served until 2013 and was the first black woman to serve as the acting deputy solicitor general. she has argued 12 cases before the u.s. supreme court, more than any other black women in history. that is two more than constance baker motley, who became the first black woman to argue a case before the united states supreme court. she was part of the legal team that thurgood marshall assembled that won the historic case brown versus board of education. in 2019, judge leondra kruger participated in a discussion about supreme court clerkships. here is some of what she had to say. >> part
