she's a russia expert with a harvard ph.d. she had written a 500 page book on a profile of vladimir putin. it was a surprise to her friends that she would even go into the white house. because trump has spoken admiringly of putin and he has refused to accept the idea that russia meddled in the 2016 election. so when she went in, she was going in with a purpose to try to advance russia policy, probably to try to make sure nothing bad happened. and that was, i think, how she viewed her role, was to advance u.s. foreign policy interests and to perhaps put a check on this president's worst impulses. >> john, as somebody who knows fiona hill, your categorizing her testimony in sort of three different ways, what she said, who she is, and how she delivered it. explain what stood out to you the most. >> well, in terms of what she said, i think there were three things that jumped out at me. first, she was the only witness
