here's one of the conversations i had. >> i am queens new york. >> i am from long island new york. >> the schools aren't keeping they can of their black students' backgrounds but the students estimate less than a third are generational african americans. >> how do you identify? >> caribbean american. >> nigerian america. >> i was born here, but my parents lives were spent in nigeria. >> the son of two immigrants who migrated here in their early adult life. >> we sent a detailed list of questions to harvard about their diversity and recruitment efforts. the proportion of black students who are deed ants of enslaved people and those who is families immigrated. the school responded with a handful of web links and then declined to comment further.
