city on kodiak island. it's really far north. which means this time of year, it is usually, of course in the winter, a very, very cold place to be. on sunday, however, kodiak hit a record. a record of 67 degrees fahrenheit. that is the warmest temperature ever recorded in december in the entire state of alaska. nearby the kodiak airport, it's 65 degrees, which beat its previous daily record by 20 degrees. the last record high temperature on december 26th was just 45 degrees set in 1984. that was the old record. that's like a basketball team scoring 250 points in a game. not only that, bus according to the national weather service, it's the warmest temperature on record for any time between october 5th and april 21st.
