This Eyewitness News video cam has been sent to us from west chester. You can see the wind whipping and the rain. Lets get to justin drabick. Hes been keeping a close eye on these storms and what we can expect throughout the evening. This is something you dont want to deal with on Labor Day Weekend. The good news is fast moving storms still kind of scatterd in nature. We have one line developing from trenton, philadelphia south into wilmington. This is raising off to the east at about 40 Miles Per Hour but a lot of lightning going on right over near philadelphia, very heavy rainfall. Check out the radar zooming in a little closer, parts of Gloucester County into delaware county, the bright oranges and reds, extremely heavy rainfall, frequent lightning going on here. There could be wind gusts 40 to 40 Miles Per Hour. A rough ride right now on 95 around chester, 295 and the jersey turnpike. If you know anyone traveling in this area, look out. Probably fir another hour or so. Again, this line of showers and storms moving off to the east, so again around cherry hill look out at 6 43 eaves champ, 6 58 and later on in browns mills, new jersey, at 7 22. Again, this is one line that will come through, so we should see improving conditions in another hour or so. Through the evening some scattered showers and storms. Watch out for the frequent lightning, winds gusting to near 40 Miles Per Hour and with that heavy rain, there could be some urban flooding in some spots. 80 degrees were down to now. We had a high of 93. Rain cooled air across the Delaware Valley and still very humid outside. Willow grove not a whole lot of rain yet at 85 degrees. Were in a tropical air mass. Dewpoint temperatures well into the 70s so thats helping to fuel these heavy rain showers and thunderstorms. Check out your labor day forecast around the region. Still the threat for a scattered shower or a storm especially in the afternoon. Another hot day in philadelphia, near 90. Lower 80s at the shore. Near 80 degrees in the poconos. Developing right now district officials in bucks county say three High School Students were killed in a crash in the poconos. It happened in paupack township wayne county overnight a total of six people were in the suv when it overturned late saturday morning. The Council Rock School districts web site says the three students killed were sophomores at Council Rock High school south. The lackawanna countys Coroners Office has identified two of the victims, ryan lesher and shamus digney. Both were 15 years old the school will be opened for students and families starting tomorrow afternoon for counseling. The new School Year Begins on tuesday. Its official, the showboat casino closed its doors this afternoon after 27 years on the boardwalk. Eyewitness News ReporterSteve Patterson reports, its just the first of three casinos that will shut down for good in Atlantic City. Reporter an emotional sunday on the boardwalk. Closing time for the showboat casino on this Labor Day Weekend the worst kind of irony sunday near 2,000 employees lost their jobs. Everybody was in tear. Reporter 12 Atlantic City casinos will be down eight and nearly 8,000 workers will be jobless. 8,000 families out of work in an eightmonth window of time is an economic disaster. Reporter former employee Ruth Ann Joyce was hired along with her husband as bartenders when the casino originally opened at nearly 30 years ago. It is very difficult for the guests, its very difficult for the employees. Its a sad time in Atlantic City. Reporter joyce and her husband are among the 470 workers being transferred to another site by owner Caesars Entertainment but she was quick to point out theres no guarantee. Being repositioned within the company doesnt guarantee you work. If youre not working, youre not getting a paycheck. If youre not getting a paycheck, youre still on unemployment. Reporter 23 year veteran angela brocker man was not repositioned. Now, like so many, faced with the uncertainty of unemployment after two decades of a place she called home. Well, just give to it god i guess, you know, just have to keep trying, you know. Reporter up next for many of these workers, the Atlantic City convention center, theyre setting up a Resource Center for many of the workers who were laid off here, that will be on wednesday and of course now many of these workers will be looking for work. Revel hotel is closing tomorrow at 11 00 a. M. The casino will shut down 6 oclock tuesday morning. Then trump plaza is set to close on september 16th. Its day two of the made in america concert. It is hot and it is sticky out hire but that hasnt stopped thousands of people as you can see right here from coming out to enjoy some music. Theyre making the most of a muggy music festival. Crowds are doing all they can to coop cool as temperatures creep into the 90s here on the ben franklin parkway. With this kind of heat it makes the alcohol mixing alcohol with it is not a good combination. Reporter police say thats their biggest concern. Theyve had to keep an eye on concert goers overcome by extreme weather conditions. Weve seen an increase in the number of folks that have been ill or needed some type of medical attention. Reporter and hope is that the rain will cool things off just a little bit. Thousands are rocking out in Downtown Los Angeles for the long weekend concert series. This is the first year for the festivals expansion which was first launched by music mogul jayz three years ago here in philadelphia. Bucks county authorities are trying to figure out what led to a deadly shooting among family members. They say it started as a domestic dispute this morning. Authorities were called to the 4,000 block of fayette drive in bristol at around 3 30 this morning. Investigators tell Eyewitness News at least one member of the family was shot and killed at the scene. Police are still trying to determine who pulled the trigger. And police are investigating a hit and run in the parking lot of reds bar and grille in the northeast. Four men were struck just after 2 oclock this morning outside the bar on the 8200 block of the roosevelt parkway. One victim remains in Critical Condition tonight. The striking vehicle is black and believed to be either a chevy trailblazer or an envoy. A Home Invasion in Merion Station ends with two men hurt. Police say the suspects were armed with a hammer. This was the scene just after 4 00 this morning on the 200 block of edge hill road. Investigators were seen collecting evidence from the home. The victims may have been targeted because they own a store according to police. Their conditions are not being released. So far, police have not made any arrests. Egg harbor township fire officials are investigating a blaze at an inn in somers point that forced nine people out overnight including a child. These photos were taken outside the bay island inn early this morning. One resident was taken to the hospital for medical attention the red cross is now helping folks with food, clothing and temporary lodging. The cause of that fire is still under investigation. Delaware county residents come out to celebrate two world series championships in just one year. However this is impacting the made in america concert right now with heavy rain and lightning here in the city. It should be out of here probably another half hour or so. A thin line of showers and storms coming through the region through trenton philadelphia down into New Castle County delaware. A lot of lightning going on especially in areas of northern Gloucester County moving into camden county, south philadelphia certainly seeing a lot of lightning and heavy rainfall. This extends down into wilmington, delaware and eventually bear, delaware, down 95 into northeastern maryland, cecil county so this is all heading to the east at about 40 Miles Per Hour. Better conditions behind it but still we cant rule out a couple of scattered showers maybe a thunderstorm later on tonight but the main impact will be over the next couple of hours especially across south and central jersey. Look at all the bright colors on radar indicating heavy rainfall over the major interstates, 295, the jersey turnpike and i95. Again, this heads to the east at about 40 to maybe 45 Miles Per Hour so cherry hill in just a few minutes around just about an hour you guys should be heading into that heavy rainfall. Washington township 6 57, pemberton 7 13, winslow township about 7 30 for a cluster of showers and storms. Again still some showers that could impact us during labor day itself so still a little unsettled forecast coming in for the start of september. Raincooled air in the 70s right now at the airport with that heavy rain but out ahead it still very warm and humid. South jersey the shore points dry for now but you guys could even see some showers and storms later tonight. Humidity factor very high. Monday and tuesday well have it on the oppressive level, very high dewpoints of tropical air mass in place. Improving conditions as far as the humidity goes on wednesday. It will lower to about a moderate level. If youre not a fan of the humidity youll have to wait a few more days. The reason, big hot humid air mass in place. Temperatures again tomorrow upper 80s to around 90. Cant rule out a scattered shower or thunderstorm especially during the afternoon. Even hotter on tuesday. Low 90s for the high temperatures. And then well see a cold front come through tuesday night. That will bring a chance for a shower or storm during the night time hours. Then once that front passes, the humidity drops a little bit but temperatures stay on the warm side for wednesday into thursday. Highs again still upper 80s to near 90 degrees. So, now through about 11 oclock, still the threat for some showers, maybe a thunderstorm especially from philadelphia on south and east. Improving conditions overnight. We should start off labor day dry. Dont expect a whole lot of sunshine during the day but into the afternoon, again, we could see some of those popup showers and storms. Just keep your eyes in the sky if you have outdoor plans tomorrow. No need to cancel them just yet. Better conditions later on labor day night. Tuesday mainly dry through the day and then during the night time we could see another shower or storm with that cold front moving through. Nice day sets up on wednesday. Overnight mostly cloudy, some scattered showers and storms especially over the next hour or two. 73 for the low temperature for the city. Little bit cooler out in the suburbs. Another hot day for labor day, some sunshine, some scattered showers and storms thigh of around 90 degrees. Heres your shore forecast. Looks like tomorrow thats your best shot to see a shower or storm, 83 degrees for the high temperature. Ocean water very warm at 78 degrees. Southwest wind at 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour. Here we are kicking off september in the lower 90s, well above average for this time of year. Plenty of sunshine through midweek but check it out, it stays warm. Upper 80s thursday and friday, then next weekend could be a shower or a storm on saturday, then cooling back to the low 80s on sunday. So, incredible temperatures there for september. 90s.
