Emergency rooms in philadelphia have seen significant increase in the bumper number of people with asthma problems related to high pollen count. Thats triggered advisory from the City Health Department warning all doctors they may seymour patients. Were having a major problem. Doctor George Martin at Lankenau Medical Center said it is one of the worse spring allergy seasons hes ever seen. I this season just little more brutal. Exactly partying harder than we might want. Weve got fairly nice day out there, nicole. Not raining right now and you know youll see scattered shower around, still there is isnt that bad. Certainly comfortable temperature wise, billy penn, refuses to get rid of his metal hat. But, even so, were still enjoying it, billy doing great job overseeing the city as you have for so long. Weve the boardwalk and this was so packed, just about five minute ago everybody look like parade was going on, this guys moving right along the boardwalk, down in rehoboth we have, temperature of 70 degrees, do you notice, the sky, that is just blending right in with the ocean because it is gray out there. Were going to hope for brightening little later this afternoon. Right now, though, we do have the clouds. We have couple of spots of some showers, not heavy, you can see that by just the light green that were looking at. But they could get little downpour, at times in one or two spots. This isnt a wash out day at all. But it is a day that does bring at least chances of a shower and thunderstorm. Seventytwo our temperature in philadelphia, right now we continue to warm up. Still, in the 70s, right at 70 degrees throughout south jersey and wilmington, 68 in reading, 66 degrees up in allentown right now. Our temperatures today into the 80s tomorrow, into the middle 70s. By the time we get to tuesday we will probably be right around 80 degrees again. And chances of showers thunderstorms, not just today or tonight but also, monday and tuesday. So thats the one can common theme throughout the next couple of days. Our storm scan3 showed we saw couple of showers here. Now, when it shows one thing and our computer model shows another, you have to say hum how right is it going to be as it goes forward . But it is as good as we get and i think what weve got couple of showers pop up around the noon hour. We get some clouds, and maybe a lot of clouds, we also start to see some breaks in those clouds, maybe later this afternoon, and few more showers, start to break out by the time we hit 7 00 tonight, few more showers. You can tell, by this. That it is not a wash out. It is just a day with depending on where you are you are going to be finding a chance of picking up those showers. And then as we go through tomorrow by noon, few showers are around, not big deal. But, some of them later on in afternoon you could be finding a brief downpour, some of these tomorrow afternoon as well. Just the unsettled weather pattern, typical summer like look that we get and then even monday afternoon and evening we start to see some of these showers around here. We keep that threat going through the next couple of days but once thats gone, thats gone. From now until tuesday morning, rpm says oh, well see over an inch of rain. But nobody else thinks that is so. Very high amount after inch, i think, probably on the order of quarter to third of an inch, seems to be what most of them think by the tie we get through tuesday morning. We need the rain. At this town we believe we have variety of chemicals used in the floors business involved in this fire have issue with potential runoff, Montgomery County hazmat team assisting with us rectifying the situation. Structural issues inside and outside including the roof. Fire Officials Say the major problem was getting water to the fire. They had to hook up hundreds of feet of hose to tap into hydrant, multiple locations no injuries, no damage to homes and i spoke to multiple neighbors along the residential block few feet from the building they say theyre grateful, very thankful to firefighters who stepped up early in the morning and got this control. Incredible effort, thank you. Now to the latest developments in the amtrak tragedy, officials ordered amtrak to improve the safety in the area of the deadly amtrak derailment. 200 injured, eight died. Crews still cleaning up the scene. Trucks were seen caring what appear to be bent Railroad Tracks away from the derailment site saturday. The ntsb sent viewing septa engineer, who has something strike his train minutes before that amtrak crash. Matt rivers spoke exclusively witness who was on the septa train when it all happened. We dont yet what caused this damage, septa Regional Rail train windshield cracked by projectile on tuesday night. Monica williams was just a few rose behind when it happened. We hear this thud needly im thinking oh god we hit somebody. Turns out something hit the train. Septa train came to hard stop, and the engineer, opened his door at some point he comes out, you can see inside, you can see the windshield, shatter, a hole. Just few minute later amtrak 188 sped by her stopped train. Moment later as seen in this exclusive video obtained by Eyewitness News it derails. The train had passed us. Second train also hit by projectile seen in this passenger photo. Amtrak train headed south from new york city to philadelphia blast stuck in the same area. Now, trying to figure out if amtrak 188 was the thirds train that night hit by a projectile. He told investigators err doesnt remember if his locomotive was hit by something, but this hole in the trains windshield is suspicious enough the fbi is now involved. Immediately i wonder if it iscted how often does it happen the glass on the train shatters, and the train we just saw was a tragedy. Even if it is hit by projectile, no telling whether that played a role in the crash. That is question developing letters attempt to answer in the days and weeks to come meantime repairs continue to be made along the damaged portion of the trash. Officials best hope is that those rail lines can reopen to commuters, sometime early next week. In the sat center, matt rivers cbs3, Eyewitness News. Northbound trains, along the frankford curve where that derailment occurred. And, along dangerous curves on the northeast corridor. System notifies the engineer when train is above the speed limit, and automatically applies the brakes if that engineer doesnt respond. Now, amtrak must also post more speed limit signs to alert engineers. Well, the amtrak tragedy has some questioning why seatbelts arent as common on trains as they are in cars and on planes. You might think they would help minimize injuries. But as three on your side consumer reporter jim donovan tells us, thats not necessarily the case. Derailed in port richmond, anything that wasnt secured went flying. Including the passengers. I would ask people that those were awake, what happened to you . They said oh, somebody fell people were hurled. Which begs the question why dont trains have seatbelts . I took a train from wilmington to philly today. Passengers i spoke with had mixed feelings. Anything people dont think of crashing the odds of anything happening are miniscule, that not worth the effort. Train experts agree. Also i can on highway many times higher, and likely accident like this one is extremely low. Found seatbelt on trains, could actually do more harm than good. When acceptable lap belt like those used in planes, crash dummies rotated with enough force to break their next. When threepoint belts were tested like those used in cars they did better. Seats would have to be made more rigid. Increasing the risk of injury to unrestrained passengers. Another survey conducted seatbelts on trains doesnt seem to be practical, in part, because passengers would be unlikely to use them. Im jim donovan cbs3 Eyewitness News. Now, the amtrak tragedy is the main topic on todays face the nation. We will get live preview of the show whether we go live to washington and speak with cbs Bob Schieffer just ahead. Good morning to you. We understanded youll be talking to pennsylvania senator bob casey and also robert of the National Transportation safety board of course about this weeks who are itch irk Train Derailment here in philadelphia. Of course weve been covering the story still so many questions to be answered this morning. Really are the latest being this whole idea some sort of projectile, may have been thrown at the train or something, shattered the windshield of that train as you all have been reporting. I mean, whats that all about . Was it a rock . Was it something heavier than a rock . Is it possible that somebody took a shot at the train . Those are just some of the questions that still i think are to be answered. As we get deeper and deep near this thing. But, this is a story thats going to go on for awhile. So thats absolutely where were going to start this morning. And we will be talking as you said, to senator casey and to the investigators from the ntsb. Also going to do some more politics i mean, 2016, and the president ial race, is well underway. All of the republicans were out in iowa yesterday. Were going to talk to one every them, Governor Scott walker, of wisconsin i also, friday, tracked down former secretary of defense, bob gates, who served in both the bush and the obama administration, he work for eight president s, nic i asked him what did he think of the Foreign Policy credentials of the candidates that he has seen so far. Very candid. He said, well, frank lip, he wasnt impressed with any of them thus far. Very interesting interview adds perspective to all of. This so thats the other part that we will be talking about this morning. Eight president s, yes he should have a lot of perspective. Looking forward to that one. Bosh, thank you. Okay, nicole. 8 43 right now just warm weekend, so far, right hazy, humid, and right now carol is coming back to tell us more about our chances for rain ahead in the forecast. Also as David Letterman prepares to end his incredible career as host of the late show, he is talking about his time behind the desk. Well have sneak peak at his interview with jane pauley coming up next. David letterman ending his career with star studded guest list, tells us despite all of the accolade, letterman is still a humble hoosier. Shear preview of the interview youll see coming up little later on cbs sunday morning. Goes way back. As we do, having both grown up in indianapolis. I recalled appearance we made together there, in the 70s. You told the High School Kids about feelings about your success, you said it is like robbing 7eleven, the money is good but you know youre going to get caught. I hope i said. That will in those daisy was probably not you wait be to be tapped on the shoulderment okay the real guys here, you can go home now. Thats what i was always motivated by that fear, the fear of failure then i have to oh, darn. And then, you know, i wasnt chosen again, so i go back home. In high school, letterman was not a candidate for most likely to succeed. That where he found his calling. My solve my year in high school they offered a speech class, public speaking class soys signed right up. First day of class everybody has to stand up, give many prom too speech about themselves. And i got up, when it was my turn, i gave the speech. It had to be like two minutes something, and i sat down, and i said wow that was easy. To myself. And i had never said that about any other class in my academic career prior or after. It was the only time i felt like i know whats required here. So interesting, fond farewell to David Letterman plus the fight to keep films in hollywood this sunday morning right here on cbs3 at 9 00. Just couple of minutes from now. Welshing hard to believe, but dave has only three episodes left the three night event starts on monday, with ahmaddiya any award winner tom hanks, and bill murrly stop by his 44th appearance on letterman show. Then on wednesday the final night, filled with surprises member over recall highlights and that famous top ten list. The last one ever. It is all right here, on cbs3. Hes going to be missed, carol. The late night plan of so many people. But funny guy will continue to be funny guy. Weather watchers are up this morning, and they are liking what theyre seeing out there for the most part. 70 degrees, dont you lover that this time of the morning . Saying green on the radar dry but humid on the ground. So, we are getting some moisture aloft. That isnt making it all the way down to the ground, despite the humidity we have out there. 71 degrees temperature where margo; and she is in buena vista. She said warm with overcast skies. Eights find cooler one 16 degrees the temperature john is finding out in yardley at 65 degrees. Lets take a hike shall we . We go to ocean city it, does not look particularly bright there. Active on the board walk, people already out despite the fact that the sun is not. Sky wise, just looking at a lot of clouds, some activity on the board walk, as well. 71 degrees, and winds out of the west, we do see some precipitation, now, is it making it all the way to the grounds . I would bet that some of these darker stripes of green are. Some of the lighter ones probably not. Almost suspended in the air you can tell that being look outside. Also on storm scan3, we have some clouds, and were going to be hanging onto those clouds for good portion of the day im afraid. Seven open millville, atlantic city, 27 out at the airport in philadelphia. All the way to the north to find coolest spot. Sixtyeight in quakertown in willow grove, 69 gross in mount hole think morning. We are looking at sort of an uncomfortable day humidity wise. Dew point right now 66. Sixtythree dew point tomorrow. Drop little, slightly bit more comfortable than today. Even so when you find them anywhere between 06 and 65 degrees, on our comfort index, that is in the steamy to oppressive range. And thats where we will be today. 80s. Tomorrow in the 70s middle 70s, then by the time we get to tuesday looking at temperatures in the 80s again and every single day and every single time period we have a chance of scattered storm or thunderstorm. Not talking wash outs. Not talking about constant rain. Talking about scatter here and there. The computer model caught up with itself doing pretty good job. This is actually on storm scan3. When you find whats really happening also on the computer model you go okay, probably have better chance of being right. And think think one has finally caught up. Which says, just very light scattered showers, in couple of spot. This is look at 1 00 in the afternoon. Widely scared, 4 00 still looking at widely scattered showers, 8 00 still widely scattered showers. Any time you see thunderstorm, sunshine, that sort of thing consideration add to the instability in the air create a chance of getting a thunderstorm. And if you do see that, then there could be little more in the way of rain. Midnight we get some clouds, by noon, tomorrow, we get chance of some more showers around here.
