Good morning nicole, police, fire officials have this area of torresdale avenue on lock down and it a has been on lock down for several hours as accident investigators, look the at this scene. Theyre dealing with the aftermath of the mangled burned out aftermath of this tragic, three vehicle crash that claimed three lives. Police say it happened around 3 00 oclock this morning when a black chevy camaro, came down, torresdale avenue and crashed into a parked tractor trailer, it burst into flames, fuel leaked and a second tractor trailer also caught fire, fire officials, a arrived on the scene, to three vehicles, engulfed in flames and they contain the fire and found three people dead in the car. The the victims are all believed to be women, Philadelphia Police captain anthony ginnaldi spoke to witnesses who saw the tragedy take place. We have a witness on the scene that said that they saw the camaro, north bound on torresdale avenue extremely high rate of speed coming up over the crest of the hill here at broad street go airborne, and subsequently contacted the ground and lost control and struck the car and trailer. Reporter no bored whether alcohol was involved. Authorities did call hazmat to the crews to the scene after herbicides leak from one of the trailers. I understand this was only a precaution. They say the curve in the road does cause speed to accelerate when you cross this section of the intersects and one resident said her child actually went to this school and accident happen where fencing here around this Charter School was actually taken out by folks who got in an accident. So it could have been worse here, again, three people lost their lives, three vehicles involved, in this crash, here, earlier this morning. An air France Flight headed to paris had to make an Emergency Landing in kenya today after a suspicious device was reported on board. The plane diverted late last night with 463 people on board. Police have had this area of torresdale avenue, from rhawn to ashburn on lock down for several hours as they had worked to investigate this three vehicle accident, as you can see, all of the mangled burned out metal remains from the two tractor trailer involved. The black chevy camaro that claimed the lives of three people have been since removed, that vehicle was totally crushed. Police say all of this happened around 3 00 oclock this morning, witnesses say, that chef i camaro came down torresdale avenue at a high rate of speed, went airborne as it crossed rhawn street and careened into a parked tractor trailer. That tractor trailer caught fire, and then fuel leaked a second tractor trailer also caught fire and when fire officials arrived on the scene all three vehicles were engulfed in flames and they put the fire out and they found three people all believed to be woman, dead and the car, Philadelphia Police captain anthony ginnaldi released a herbicide and they have called in hazmat crews. The residents say this tragedy was worse they have heard of in this area but called this intersection of rhawn and torresdale avenue, dangerous. Very scary. Myself and my children and my husband we walk up and down the the street, sometimes and you still see people flying down the street but the the schools, i mean they have had accidents, where the gate was down and it in makes me not want to walk up here with my kids. Now multiple rest events have told me that they have seen other accidents, in this area, nothing as tragic as this, of course, and the good news is that the impact of this area has been minimal, and none of the businesses including the school nearby or the electrical station has been damaged, although there have been some complaints of cable out in the area. But you no word just yet as accident investigators continue their investigation, they dont know yet whether alcohol was a factor in this tragic accident. Police say the seven threeyear old man was crossing byberry road near proctor road around 6 30 when he was struck by a passing vehicle. He was transported to aria torresdale where he later died of severe head injuries. Here we are, in the six days before christmas, and there is a family without a loved one, an elder member of their family, 73 years old, this is a very tragic accident. There sad. Police say 20 yearold male driver stayed on the scene and there is no word if he will face charges. Funeral arrangements are made for a new jersey state trooper, killed in the crash. Trooper eli mccarson from Gloucester County will be laid to rest on wednesday. Viewing will be held in the morning at Rowan University in glassboro followed by services at noon. Trooper mccarson was responding to a domestic disturbance thursday morning when his vehicle went off the roadway in quinton township salem county. The his car crashed the in the you filled pole. Troop are mccarson graduated from february and just gotten married in september and was 30 years old.
