A developing story this morning, police are investigating the deadly shooting of an offduty Police Officer in Delaware County yesterday afternoon. Police say that the 26 yearold darby boro Police Officer was shot and killed inside of his home saturday afternoon while he was offduty. The authorities immediately launch an investigation and they are expect to file homicide charges later on today. Police arrived at the the home in the 600 block of magnolia avenue just after 4 30 p. M. They were responding to reports of shots fired, and when they arrived they found a woman in the home and a four year veteran officer with a gunshot wound to the chest. The officer was taken to the Presbyterian Hospital where he died darby boro police chief Bob Smith Smith called the officer a start on the force who will be missed. The Fire Fighters for a number of years in the boro of yeadon a number of their volunteers over there are very upset as my guys are very upset about it. It is like we lost a member of our family needlessly. Reporter smith says the four year veteran officer was parttime but had a Bright Future on the force because of the high quality of his work. Now police say that domestic reports of domestic altercations had been filed previously from that home. In word yet on the name of that officer as his family is currently being notified of his death. The six year veteran is accused of assaulting that supervisor as he tried to take him into custody. What is chronic . A dog that has stomach diarrhea issues, all the time or what time frame. Well, we would define chronic as anything greater than three weeks. It doesnt have to be all the time over that period but at least intermittent more days on than off yes. Okay. Now, with this, are you trying something new in this Clinical Trial that you would like to have people bring their dogs to or just what . There is no new therapeutic trial it is standard of care diagnostics and treatments. We are looking at this new investigation of the bacteria that lives in the intestinal track and we will look at that through biopsy that is we take as part of the study and looking at bacteria in stool samples. Is it harmful . Does the dog feel pain being in this Clinical Trial. No, they dont feel any pain. They go through standard diagnostic protocol which is extensive protocol to rule out other disease that he is could be causing clinical signs and diagnosis whether they have gastrointestinal problems. Then youll be starting on a prescription diet because every so often they get something else. Then you move to antibiotics. Correct. What would be the third phase. Third face is corticosteroids, like predisone which is any line drug treatment that we use for inflammatory bowel treatment in dogs. Is there anything people can do at home if they dont enroll in this trial and their doggies doing this when is it an issue you need to get to the vet soon if your doggies having a stomach problem. Certainly before they reach 39 week point. We expect most of these vets will be seen by their primary vet, to have initial diagnostics but if they are not responding to the standard treatment, then that would be a time to consider the study. The first thing somebody at home should do if they have a dog with this problem, it happens within time okay, it happens next day you start to watch it. Yes good if it happens more than two days in a row then it is time to seek a attention. Then your vet may very well be just putting them on this hypo allergenic diet and doing antibiotics and steroid and that sort of thing. Usually, but for acute problems, we dont reach for those diets because that is a pretty major change for people. Yes. And for their pets and sometimes they dont like it. You know what you are doing.
