Reporter true tragedy Riverside Sheriffs Department tweeted this a couple hours ago that the suspect has been taken in custody. They have given very little details. Suspect is accused of killing two officers, six threeyear old Jose Gill Vega and 27 yearold leslie zereby leaving the Palm Springs Community in mourning. Police and Community Members gathered saturday night outside of the palm springs desert Regional Medical center. Where officers, leslie zereby and Jose Gilbert Vega died of their wounds. The officers coffin were wheeled out of the hospital and gently lifted in to white hearsts, a third officer remained in the hospital. Being treated for gunshot wounds. Police chief brian reyes says that the three officers were shot while answering a call from a woman who said that her adult son was causing a disturbance. The chief says that officers were at the front door of the home, negotiating with the suspect, when he decided to open up fire. Two of the officers, were killed, and six threeyear old Jose Gill Vega, a father of eight was a 35 year veteran of the police department, he was scheduled to retire in december, and 27 yearold leslie zereby had been on the force 18 months and recently returned from maternity leave. It is fairly easy year ago audrey katz, diagnosed with Breast Cancer but before she got treatment she gave researchers a stash of her germs. I was able to do it at home. The it was a couple of swabs. It is new frontier of health, medicine. Reporter researchers are collecting, analyzing microbes for Breast Cancer patients hoping to better understand the disease. I think that you will find that they hold key place in our understanding of cancer report report human body is home to about 100 trillion microbes, about two to 6pound worth, bacteria and other organisms are mostly beneficial, they break down food. Teach our system to recognize danger and pre dues antiinflammatory compound. These organisms are absolutely necessary to be living in us for us to survive. Reporter rahel, routine call gone terribly wrong and two officers are dead 35 year veteran Jose Gill Vega and 18 month veteran leslie zereby, both lost their lives in the line of duty in the Riverside Sheriff Department announced on twitter a few hours ago that the suspect is now in custody. A triple shooting, following what appears to be a routine, 911 call. A mother says that her adult son was causing a disturbance. The offices arrived at the home and tried to talk the suspect down. But things went ary. We were sitting there watching tv and we heard a couple bang, bang, bang and we look out and it was crazy, it was wrapped fire. Reporter all three officers were shot. The officers were at the trent door trying to negotiate with the suspect just to comply. It was a simple disturbance and he elect to open fire. Reporter officers were rushed to the hospital, two died from their injuries. Police join the community in mourning their lost and vigil saturday night, officer Jose Gill Vega, father of eight was 63 years old and had been on the force for 35 years and was set to retire this december. We have an officer, that was qualified for retirement five yearsing a and here he is 35 years in still putting a patrol car for our community to make it better, on a date he wasnt even scheduled to work. Reporter officer leslie zereby had been with the department 18 months and married to a sheriffs deputy and just returned back from work for maternity leave. Their daughter was just four months old. Here we have a wonderful, young, dedicated, officer that pressed forward every day to make it better for everybody else. She gave her all. The Palm Springs Police department is expected to provide more detail this morning about the arrest of the suspect, whom they say is known to police. His identity has not yet been released. Three alarm fire on holmes avenue started around 5 00 yesterday morning, fortunately in one was hurt. It is a huge thing, as pennsylvania spca and it may be absolutely perfect for you, you may not be able to adopt an animal but might have time to spend with one, and first we always show adoptable animal and do very same thing today. These are three animals up for adoption at the pennsylvania spca. I love dougie a one yearold boston terrier mix who cannot wait to get love, attention, very people oriented. Gets along with everybody. You know, he even became best friends, yeah, you see him on the camera. I know, that is your old friend dougie. We have a machine for and bianca is looking at dougie. Anyway we will get back to that. Not a mean bone in his body, he even became friendly with the rabbit in his foster home. Dougie is gaining confidence to be a very, very sweet wonderful dog. Isnt it darling. Yes, he likes to watch tv. Yes. Sally, five monthold, look at this dog, all legs hound mixed pulled, available for adoption. Shes wonderful. This is a dog who would love a lot of exercise. If you are a cat person blinky is twoyear old female Domestic Short Hair cat, recently pulled from the city shelter and wow love to go home. Now you know this is continue i because when bee april contact saw dougie on camera. Yes. There was a lot of barking because, well, that is, this dog with like to be by itself i think. She has been getting a long well with other dogs. I think seeing dougie show up a six yearold spay female in the Foster Program at pennsylvania spca and this is a Great Program for animals that need to get out of the shelter. Beast anika has just terrible allergies. The shes allergic to cats and that sort of thing. She was losing her hair in the shelter, a lot of stress. Shelter may be too stressful for bianca. And so many other animals. Fortunately, a doctor stepped forward and said let the me give this dog a respite from that shelter. I will take that dog in the home, all of the medication shes in a special program with the pennsylvania spca because she came in through humane law enforcement. She was neglect or cruelty case. Foster is in between between the shelter and finding a permanent home, to foster that middle ground. It allows them to realize, the two lives, they have made space in the shelter for another dog and they are saving the life and socializing and just kind of giving the break to the animal that needs it. Some of these foster animals up for adoption we have a five week old kitten too little to be at shelter. Somebody could foster that for a couple weeks. We have puppies, kittens and that sort of thing. So many different ways to get involved. Great Foster Coordinator who is able to tell you animal that is good and it is short term, longer term, and the at the end of your foster, you would be like anybody else, available to adopt that animal, should you choose. That would be another process. But there are so many ways to help and pennsylvania spca will work with you, like this dog with the medication and special food that is provided by the pennsylvania spca. Bianca is looking for either a permanent home. Shes an absolute angel. Yes. A doll. Shes allergic to cats and needs to be on special food but that can be provided for you or she could use another foster as well. Somebody who understands the issues. It is a very rewarding project thaw can get involved with and you get plenty of support. You will be told exactly what to to,. Spca wants to make sure they are in the home suitable and they want to help as well. The you are never alone out there. They have behavior people, only positive reenforcement but, they are so willing to help do anything. For a lot have people maybe you only have weeks vacation im not going anyplace, contact spca and say i will be home do you have anybody for a week i could help out and they will help you out.
