And their families. They are heartbroken. The entire city of dallas is grieving. Police across america, this is a tight knit family, feels this loss to their core. And were grieving with them. The president speaking just a short time ago. Manuel lives in dallas. Youve been there since shortly after the gunfire broke out. Give us a sense of what is happening now, what police are doing. Well, that final suspect, the shooter, before he shot and killed himself, made a claim to police that there were bombs throughout the city. So whats happening right now is bomb sniffing dogs are being used to try to make sure that is not the case. That there are still several areas here in Downtown Dallas that are cordoned off with heavy police presence. Now, that gunfire erupted earlier with no warning, just as that protest was wrapping up. There were 800 people. It had been peaceful up to that. Point. And then all the sudden it was chaos. It was something that can only be described as a war zone in the streets of Downtown Dallas with people who had protested and marched not far from city hall having to run for their lives. And Police Officers lying dead in the streets and others injured. There is also video that has emerged of one of the shooters taking a rifle and shooting at what appears to be unseen targets. 000, Police Officers at that point, they hid behind police cruisers, whatever they could find to protect themselves and also to try to get their injured colleagues out of harms way. Earlier we heard from the mayor of dallas, mike rawlings. To say that our Police Officers put their life on the line every day is no hiyberbole ladies and gentlemen, its a reality. We as a city, we as a country must come together, lock arms and heal the wounds that we all feel from time to time. Words matter. Leadership matters at this time. Reporter police were not the only ones who were hit by the gunfire that erupted. Were told also one bystander was injured. We heard from the sister of a woman who says that woman was here with her children at the march and was injured. Her and her boys were down at the rally. Said it was a very peaceful rally. They were enjoying it. The rally was just ending. And as the rally was ending, they turned to leave, they were one of the first crowds to leave, they began to hear them. They heard the first gunshot and didnt think much of it or it was just like, what was that . And after that first gunshot she heard the second gunshot. After that it was just a lot of gunshots. Said they just came so fast and they wouldnt stop. They all began to run, scatter. She said as she started to run, she caught a bullet in the back of her right leg. She immediately jumped on top of one of her boys, the 15yearold. She jurisprudenmped on top to c on the ground as she pushed him in between two cars and the curb. Her other three boy s scattered and ran in opposite directions so she lost three of her boys. She didnt know where they were. She said it was five minutes before cops got to her and pulled her from the area where she was because the shots were coming so fast. Not even realizing she was really shot at the time. She was shielding her son for five minutes . Shielding her son for five minutes before anybody got to her and was able to pull her away from the area. What did she tell you about the moment when she was covering her child . All she could think about was her other three boys, where are they at . Reporter jeff, one thing that is clear in speaking with protesters is the shooters waited until the protest was over when the protesters would be disbursing and they would have a clearer shot of Police Officers who were directing traffic. Can you give us a sense of what streets are still closed down and where theyre still looking for any potential explosives . Reporter youve got a core area of Downtown Dallas. Ross avenue is one perimeter. Record on the other for people who know this area. This is now smaller area than what was being closed down before but this is the area that is still cordoned off at this point. Manuel, thank you very much. Here is another look, i know, it starts to feel just like adnauseum, seeing this same old graphic, now the third day straight of an excessive heat warning that lasts us until 6 00 tonight across the i95 corridor, and, all of those flanked counties, even out to eastern chester county. Quick look at the live neighborhood network, 69 degrees, in some sunshine, right now, but certainly very, very muggy, palpable humidity, out there, at the moment. Storm scan3, very quiet at this hour. Thats going to be something that changes with time for our area. And, as we look around the region as a whole here today, upper 80s generally the expectation until the resort towns, but today is where we expect to make it officially, a heatwave. You need to remember by definition three days or more of 90 or above. And today we will have that third day, to make it official, shooting for 94 degrees today, always keep in mind, though, when you have got humidity like this, it will certainly feel a heck of a lot team injury than that. I would say feels like values probably top off near or to about 100 degrees later this afternoon. Very steamy stuff, meisha. Yes, certainly is, and we said it earlier, kate. Crate i to think that the high eights are a low point coming up. Thats our relief coming up sunday, guys, good morning, what we are waking up to . This is an area where we did have an accident, this is all clear, so this is the boulevard northbound, at ridge avenue, you can see, moving in both directions, looking good there, but you will certainly have to pack those sunglasses, as the sun glare will be pretty hefty. Ninetyfive south at girard, again, take a look at the sun glare, pushing in the northbound or eastbound direction, moving in the southbound side, you can see, just plenty of vehicles out, there might slow you down little bit this morning. Give yourself extra time, but i will say that typically fridays are usually a really nice and easier commute. New jersey 42 freeway northbound, what you are looking at there, fairly typical almost on the lightened. Accident new jersey 295 southbound at route 48, another one still out there horsham, county ryan load blocked blair milan Meeting House, downed pole and wires, you have to use an alternate. Well, turning to weather, we could see some storms today. Katy . Yes, absolutely, correct. We are right now at least in the clear, we only have just couple of clouds overhead. Im actually going to show you hands full of pictures that came in this morning from the eyewitness weather watchers. Start things off with a map view here. There are couple of spots where you are already in the 80s, here, for example, very very warm start to the day. Take you up into lawrenceville, new jersey where peter reports 74 degrees, hes got that mixed bag right now, partly sunny skies, the report, going little further off to the south here, go ahead, take you into another 74 degrees temperature reading coming in this morning from william out in the levittown area, 74 degrees, he said dew point at 67. So the closer that dew point get to the air temperature, the more saturated the air mass becomes. And with dew point at 67, kind of steamy, you will notice that the second you walk out the door, 64 the bench park where it starts to feel stickier. Better peak at some of the other once in some of the suburbs outside of philadelphia across the delaware into cherry hill we go. It is sort of the hazy sunshine comes in this morning from lynn, had good advice for those every that you can help it, stay indoors in the air conditioner if you can, it is going to be very, very toasty day. I promised you couple of pictures, we go there next. Now at the moment it is pretty much couple of gray clouds starting to funnel in here outside gilbert ville, Eileen Murray sent this picture n you have pretty sky cast out there, nice sunrise comes in this morning from ed connor, i believe we have one more, yes, certainly looks like hot start to the day. Thats for sure. And megan sent this one into us with pretty colors, being skewed on the horizon. Now as we look back to the west, there is already some thunderstorms beginning to bubble up, southeast of the erie area. This is essentially what our radar could look like at the local level. Later on today, we do sit in slight risk for Severe Weather specific to the outlying suburbs from philadelphia. Philly itself sits in a marginal risk, in other words, low risk for some stronger thunderstorms, all of the threats that we tends to look at when talking Severe Weather. Heavy rain, very gusty winds, look to be the biggest concern mainly this afternoon and evening, lightning also could be pretty frequent, at this point i dont anticipate any hail issues, certainly no tornado activity, always can change, but at this point it, looks like pretty low chance, just given the atmosphere set up at this point. Meanwhile, taking a look at the shore forecast, good place to head if you are trying to beat the worse of the heat. Still toasty. Still flirting with 990 degrees. Today, and tomorrow. Down the shore.
