It is crushing, absolutely crushing. Reporter donna slider has no nursing degree but works ten hours a day and then comes home to care for her husband. Without any nursing care, all this goes a away, without the safety. Reporter sliders took the matter to federal court hoping to keep his plan in place but they lost. The judge ruled that his union did nothing illegal by simply switching health plans. Now the family is counting on a go fund me page not just to help joe slider but to keep him a live. They are complete strangers donating toward this which is humbling. Reporter gentlemen need Skilled Nursing 24 hours a day and adds up to 5,000 a week. The 409 plus thousand dollars from the the go fund me page will keep joe alive until the end of march. It is just not fair to have to deal with the disease and to have this on top of this and we have been dealing with this since last july. Reporter right now joe slider is under a Medicare Supplement plan that doesnt currently meet his nursing need. I reached out to the union that he belongs to and the attorney represented the union but i didnt hear back. Gentlemen says helps his message is just to stay positive.
