There could be strong storms tomorrow. Hard to believe looking at an evening like this one temperatures near 07 degrees, blue skies, it is all about to change and in a big way for tomorrow. Heres a look at storm scan three. Not much in our region but just a few cloud creeping into the south and west, part and parcel of this much larger system, the driving center of that low is up across the midwest, you can see moisture transport down across the deep south, where a major Severe Weather out break is underway, and with a threat for long, live tornadoes and major tornadoes across the south. We will go in toe that in a bit. That is same system that will bring rain and thunderstorms to our region tomorrow. In the meantime beautiful evening, get outside and enjoy it if you can, temperatures near 70. It is 69 in philadelphia right now. Seeing a few cloud, drift in if you look to the western horizon, high cloud arriving this evening. Well, bill actually kicks the bill ahead to the National Weather service and National Ocean and Atmosphere Administration to establish programs to enhance forecasting, and the works. It should save lives by giving residents more time to prepare for deadly storms. I understand the need for that that is great news because anything we can do to improve technology is better. We have seen great leaps, but we have to keep innovating especially on days like today where we have a major Severe Weather out break underway in the south. Not for us but tomorrow, we have got that same system bringing rain and thunder our way, and it is all about the Early Warning system. The Storm Prediction Center put out a risk zone yesterday, even the day before, warning people in alabama, georgia, South Carolina, about the risk for these long tractor made owes and that is what is developing this evening. You get a head up, of course, more alerts on the phones, on our newscast, places like that always a good thing. Lets take a look at is what happening locally first and foremost what a Beautiful Day it has within. Lots of sunshine from really start to fish. It is starting to get a little bit more cloudy outside right now with high cloud creeping in, and kind of, heralding the arrival of the next system that will impact our weather for most of the day tomorrow but today we were enjoying a brief bonus day between systems, and still a great day in bethlehem. People walking up and down main street enjoying the nice, mild, weather. Storm scan three does show those cloud starting to move in, so again, sunshine, on borrowed time right now, sunny spot across our region is up in the poconos right now burks it is dry, for the moment. I want to show you out break that is happening off to the south though. Actual driving center of this low is right about here, it is a negatively tilted low. It has a lot of strength witt. It has a lot of moisture being pulled in the south and then right here we have got this ongoing threat for severe wet wets cross southeastern, georgia and South Carolina especially this may survive overnight and impact carolinas and into virginia overnight and possibly toward our region during the day tomorrow. So weve got a high risk for Severe Weather and Tornado Warning right here, you can see this line of storms pushing through southeastern, georgia just south of where Masters Tournament is taking place here in augusta we are seeing this move into South Carolina. Tornado watches are in effect. This will lift to the north tomorrow. A few showers overnight will pop up around midnight. Tomorrow night we have our first line of rain, embedded thunder around 5 00 a. M. Slow morning commute outside tomorrow and then it just keeps coming through the day. Around noon another line of rain, thunder moving through. By two or 3 00 it looks like the strongest line of storms will come through in the afternoon but that one in the morning is nothing to sneeze at either. It will be a day of, rain, embedded thunder and risk for strong to severe thunderstorms and the rain coming on top of two proceeding storms could lead to the threat for reading and run off. Flood watch has been issued for the region. Wind advisory for southeastern part of the region as well. Wind could gust to 45 miles an hour. Biggest threat from the storm tomorrow heavy downpours, one to 2 inches plus of rainfall, strong gusty wind, lightening, moderate risk for hail and a tornado risk especially off to the south, across portions of virginia and North Carolina we will talk about that, in our next half an hour. So overnight, showers develop, a thunderstorm possible, by the Early Morning hours, tomorrow is pretty much a wash out start to finish and then again a threat for dangerous storms as well. Friday cloud which showers, for phillies home opener and then we will start to turn the corner, for the weekend with Better Weather beginning saturday and really nice seven day forecast to get through but tomorrow doesnt look like a great day to be out and about pretty nasty day. Eyewitness news at Fox Chase Cancer Center where specialists provided free oral cancer screenings earlier today. They teamed up with temples head and neck institute. Both providing free screenings all this week. On the healthwatch, on this National Walking day, how fitness cracker is credited with saving a womans life. Health reporter Stephanie Stahl is here to explain. She has her own fit bit. Reporter i got the whole thing. It was a fit bit similar to this that you track stuff on your phone, more than just steps and connecticut woman said her device was seriously wrong. Patricia louder bought this track tore count her steps and help her lose weight. That was, the main reason that i bought the fit bit. Reporter now seven threeyear old credits device with saving her life, a few months ago she was not feeling well and thought her sinus infection may have turned into pneumonia. I went to the doctors, to have that checked out. It turned out to be negative. Reporter then she noticed her resting heart rate on her fit bit was climbing higher and higher every day. She had shortness of breath and her heart rate spiked to 140 beats a minute. She called for an ambulance. When it got to a point where walking across the room was a major issue i pick up the phone and knew i needed help. Reporter ct scan uncovered a potentially deadly problem, two pulmonary embolism and blood clots. It showed a large cloth, on both side. Reporter her heart was enlarged because blood clots in the lung put strain on the heart causing blood pressure, oxygen levels to drop dangerously. Doctors gave pat drugs, right away but by the next day the cloths were gone. Pat says without her fit bit she may not be here to tell her story. It is certainly helping me, on the most recent circumstances. Reporter pats lung and heart function has returned to normal and now shes counting her blessings and back to counting her steps, too. Now, doctors say, people should not rely solely on fitness trackers to routinely monitor health conditions. Reliability being one of those issues. But in terms of the counting steps, getting you motivated, it can be very helpful. Im addicted. Okay. I have already today 8,584 steps. National walking day. I will clearly be able to get to the goal of 10,000, so in terms of that, i mean i think it its very helpful. Yes. How much you are moving. Yes, serious conditions with a embolism, shortness of breath, dizziness you need immediate medical attention. I will get one. I will do this. I know, so Beautiful Day to day but it will not last. It will not last. Today is one of those bonus days in between two systems. Tomorrow another strong storm will be impacting us all day long. Once we get through tomorrow, we will finally break out of the pattern we have been stuck in this every three days there is a rain storm pattern. Now things are improving for better as we head into next week and spring may aloud to break throughout the constant rain threats. But lets start off with a look outside right now. You can see difference. This camera even just an hour ago was sport ago lot of blue skies, now, the cloud have moved in, and this evening, we will cool down a little bit now that the cloud are out there but it has been a Beautiful Day, i cannot discount how gorgeous this day has been, and the cloud are in right now and it will only get worse, from here as this storm will be impacting our forecast , through the next two days right through the end of the week. Storm scan three shows the cloud. Overcast conditions, through the remainder of this evening, most of the evening should be dry, showers will start to move in right around midnight but the war of it tomorrow is in the morning through the mid to Late Afternoon hours. And heres what were looking at center of the low, swirl all the way back here over missouri, a large slow moving system but producing Severe Weather in the deep south here , from North Carolina down there georgia and Florida Panhandle where we had tornado watches and warnings in effect right now, that is same system that will move through our region tomorrow with the threat especially for heavy rain but cant discount threat for Severe Weather either. Heres what it looked like, overnight 2 00 a. M. Showers start to move in. Now good news if there is any good news any showers and cloud that we will get through the Early Morning hours will stabilize the atmosphere a little bit. That may be one saving grace depending on where we are if we get enough stability in the atmosphere storms may not pop through. Heres what im concerned about. This line lifts through portions of virginia, maryland , into North Carolina around 11 00 a. M. Those are areas in the greatest risk zone for Severe Weather. But if that line stays strong and atmosphere is unstable enough coming through our region around two or 3 00 this could produce threat for Severe Weather, damaging wind, heavy rainfall and risk for some hail, that is around 3 00. Showers continue through evening commute but the worries through the late morning and midday hours that we will start to see that lift out. But notice how much we have got, still in place on friday. Even some snow in the western part of the state. We will see a couple spotty showers as we head through that three or 4 00 oclock just in time for phillies home opener, and scattered showers, and light coming through. Definitely may need rain gear for that friday, good news waking up saturday morning this starts to commit, we will be breezy around back edge of that storm but saturday looks like a much nicer day and it will be on the upswing improving as we head through the weekend. Heres your, Severe Threat for tomorrow. Enhanced zone across eastern virginia and North Carolina that corridor is in the greatest risk for, again Severe Weather, even isolated tornadoes thanks to the tilt of this storm. Could lift to the north. We are just on the border here in philadelphia. Just marginal risk thanks to increased stability in our region but especially in, south jersey and delaware you have to be on alert for Severe Weather tomorrow. Period of rain on and off all day with locally strong to severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong wind and both commutes will be impacted thursday morning and thursday night. Then friday mainly cloudy, cool for that phillies hope home opener in the 50s and a few showers again. Tomorrow, we will be dodging thunderstorms all day long, very windy day, even a wind advisory for shore points and southern delaware. Fridays cool, cloudy but everything starts to improve and take a look at that stretch, starting saturday but then into next week sunshine every day and highs heading back to the 70s so we have some Silver Lining in this forecast, jessica and natasha back to you. Thanks very much. Philadelphia man could have devastating injury slow him down. But as Ukee Washington shows us, he didnt and he is getting young people moving in this weeks story of brotherly love.
