But before kick off all attention was on the side lines, since Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem, many other nfl players have followed suit in the protest of social injustice. Eagles players had refrained from joining them until last night. Malcolm jenkins, steven means, ron brooke, marcus smith held up a fist during the national anthem. Jenkins had spoken about the protest this week, saying it, would happen. He just wasnt sure who would stand with him. The eagles safety has been active in the Community Since joining the birds in 2014, and says the protest is not antipolice or military. But serves as an eyeopener about racial inequality and police brutality. Many including head coach Doug Pederson wanted to be sure that the pregame protest would not be a distraction for the eagles, and jenkins and company make sure that from the getgo the defense was all over the field on monday night, including jenkins, who set the tone early with the sack of jay cutler there. The First Quarter dominated by the eagles but would have this threenothing lead into the second, thats when journey langford breaks through for chicago 1 yard touchdown put them up seven to three. Second quarter the big hits would begin to pile up forecaster on wentz, who was crushed multiple times yet seemed to really relish the contact. Woe get hit several times, i can guarantee you he will get a talking to from his coaches after a couple of these brutal hit. That will one along the side lines right there, but he would jump right back up. Here, late in the first half, eagles driving, Jordan Matthews drops it in the end zone. Drops it really, achilles heel. Eagles would settle for a field goal up nineseven at the half. Second half, the birds defense pouring it on. Jay cutlers sacked by destiny, jordan hicks would recover. And the eagles would finally hit the end zone. Thats ryan mathews from 3 yards out. It was 16 to seven. Another cutler mistake, he throws it right to my jill, takes it all the way down to the 2yard line. Cutler would eventually leave the game with an injured thumb. Tray burton then would put the eagles up 22 to seven right there. And the route is on for the Philadelphia Eagles on the road. This is langford again, he would fumble. The eagles would eventually score again. Thats ryan mathews, his second of the night. The eagles win 2914. Head coach Doug Pederson likes what he sees in his young quarterback. Really well, commanding the huddle and the dialogue on the side line with players and coaches with him is something that a nine, ten year vet would do. Guys, big moment. Are you ready . Yes. Are you ready . Wait for it. This is big. Wipe put a lot of money into this. Thousands and thousands of dollars. Oh, the went wagon coming through, everyone, jump on board. Are you guys on it . Yes.
