Leadership, at the top of the Democratic Party, that will stand with working people. Reporter Donald Trumps hammered away at a roanoke virginia rally. Hillary clinton knew what was going on. Shoe knew everything that was going on. Shoe knew it is a rigged system. That Bernie Sanders never had a chance. Okay. Reporter as clinton made Campaign Stops in North Carolina today her campaign told reporters it believes the hack was commit by russian interestness an effort to benefit trump. Sunday night on 60 minutes clinton said she could not comment on what the emails said. I cannot speak to what people who were not working for me, who were saying whatever they were saying, i cannot speak to that. Reporter fbi says it has opened up an investigation of the hacked but questions about the fairness of the dnc are likely to linger for clinton campaign. Just a few moments ago the dnc released a statement and we want to read you a part of it. We want to offer a deep sincere apology to senator sanders for unexcusable remarks, made over email. He has more than 1800 pledged delegates, some Bernie Sanders supporters are weighing, a potential floor protest this week and they are right to our right camera left, they are right besides us, many are here and some outside as well. They are sprangled all around and they are very vocal in the first hour of this convention. Lets go down to the floor where our greg argos is standing by, hi, greg. Reporter dnc has been off to a very loud, are rocky start. Were here on the Convention Floor, at the Wells Fargo Center. This is the pennsylvania delegation, you can see many bernie supporters here as well, as we pan to the right you can see delaware delegation. To the right on the delaware delegation is numbering delegation, many bernie supporters here, Party Officials say this will be a dnc that focuses on unity but like i mention add lot of division right now with the Democratic Party. The stage is literally set at Democratic National convention. Home of the brave. Reporter performances are tweaked, top speakers have have arrived, the dnc officially began at 4 00 in the afternoon monday. Opening ceremony hosted without dnc chair Debbie Wassermanschultz, embroiled in an email controversy. I think it is most unfortunate but we have to look at the Bigger Picture and Bigger Picture is that we need to maintain the white house. Reporter floor is filled with democrats from all over the u. S. , delegates hoff a very similar message to share. This dnc, i think, the message will be coming together as a party, to nominate and historic person, first woman. I think were a very good position to present a positive, forward looking agenda to the american public. Reporter but there are some g. O. P. s in the crowd like former pennsylvania senator rick santorum, who ran for president himself in 2012, now providing conservative commentary for the media gathered here at the Wells Fargo Center. One of the things that i put a premium on is you can have disagreement without being difficulties agreeable. People here, they have very core ideas about what they want. They they are not doing it because they want to see america destroyed they think america will be good. I respect that. Reporter ukee and jessica here on the Convention Floor i can tell you one of the keynote speakers tonight, right there on the stage will be senator Bernie Sanders, it will be very interesting to go see how this crowd reacts especially bernie supporters when he speaks, in just a few hours. We are live on the Convention Floor of the Wells Fargo Center ims greg argos for cbs3 Eyewitness News. Greg, thanks very much. We will get back to you shortly. The lets look at tonights speakers at dnc, silva will address the convention, shes an undocumented immigrant turn activist campaigning for granting legal status to other undocumented immigrants. A lot of activity. This is just a taste of what we have seen all day. Bernie sanders not for sale. Reporter high profile rift in the Democratic Party about as visible as you can get here on south broad street. It is ridiculous and it is so sketchy and it makes me lose faith in the american justice system. Reporter turmoil has spark outrage among supporters of the Bernie Sanders. They were planned and revelation of an email scandal only fueled the fire. Bernie is the popular candidate. He is the establishment because he will call accountability to the higher ups. Reporter Philadelphia Air patrol soared above a few thousand people who marched along the demonstration route. Large group was peaceful. Cbs spoke one on one with commissioner richard ross who was walking with the protesters. Same route going down, same group, pretty much, peaceful, so we will see. Reporter police were asking for patients for anybody having to get around center city. Meanwhile the heat threw in an extra challenge, this woman had to stop our interview. Hot, right. I need to go get a cup of water, im sorry. Reporter demonstrations are expected to grow in number throughout the week, a sign of discontent and anger in the party. It is important that we come out, show up in numbers and show people that the people are for bernie. Reporter and you are looking live, now, this is about as much a confrontation as we have seen, bernie supporters on this side of the fence and dnc delegates walking through the other side. Com Democratic National convention is in full swing, were just over an hour, almost two hours into it, were expecting some big names tonight including first Lady Michelle obama and probably most importantly, Bernie Sanders, a lot of people very interested to see what he is going to say tonight. Also some surprise performances i think on the schedule as well. Back to screens as we reported at the top of the hour Democratic Nationality committee is offering an apology, it says a deep, sincere apology to sanders and his supporters. They are, of course, apologizing for those leaked emails that show some dnc staffers favoring, favoring Hillary Clinton. We are so pleased and honored by cbs news contributor bob schieffer, bob, thanks for making time with us this afternoon. Lets talk about just the opening day, all of the things that are going on, it starts with the email leak and now you have people shouting bernie over hillary and this arena and it vice loud and contentious at some points when they hear Hillary Clintons name. Who would have thought it. This was going to be the contrast of the Republican Convention which was kind of a tornado, of really bad storms, a lot of turbulence and all of that, this was going to be unity. First thing that happens, i mean, we have an email scandal, the last thing in the world Hillary Clinton, she had nothing to do with it but last thing she wants in the same sentence in her name is email. So here we go and it looks like the russians may have had a hand in it. What do you think of that theory. I dont know what to they. They certainly have the ability to do that. You talk to anybody at national security, they all have the the ability. Whether they did or not, i dont know. If you would have told me six months ago that is what we would be talking about at this convention, i would have suggested you get some sort of therapy. Who would have thought. What about this theory, that working with trump or in support of trump what do you think about that theory. I dont know. Maybe they are working with somebody, from mars, i mean, you know, i mean who knows, and in this year, everything that is evident in this year is something that we didnt even expect. That is right. So, i mean i think that Bernie Sanders is going to endorse her tonight, but i think im going to say that i think he is probably going endorse her tonight you think anything can happen. He is going to endorse her but heres the question will he mention her name or donald trump names. Every time her name gets mentioned here as we have seen earlier there are boos, not a lot of them but there are many folks that have not given own this. After last week in cleveland who would the democrats keep their eyes on the price this week. I mean she has totally disappeared. They wouldnt even let her, have the gavel. What was her name. Debbie wassermanschultz. Thank you so much. We could talk all day, thinks so fascinating. Thanks. See you late are. That will do it for Eyewitness News at 5 00.
