The technology is meant to hold citizens and Police Officers more accountable. As Eyewitness News reporter david spunt tells us, both sides seem to be okay with the identify glee a city making headlines for its transition from crime infested to National Example of how a Police Department should run. President barack obama called camden a symbol of promise for the nation when he came last may. Now, the Camden CountyPolice Department will spends 425,000 to purchase about 400 body cameras. This is the first area i patrolled since i became a Police Officer in the city of camden. Ty says being a Police Officer is in his blood, this man, loves what he does. I grew up watching my father, who was a Police Officer for many, many years, and he was my real life modern hero. So i told myself as a kid, hey, i want to help people, i want to be a police offerser. One every just few officers who currently wear a body camera for pilot program. Soon the entire force will wear them. Says it will only help officers and the public they serve. If they know that the cameras rolling at all times, they will be less hesitant to come speak to us, or they wont be afraid that an officer could possibly harm them in anyway. We joined officer for one every his foot patrols around town and met residents who seem to like the idea of cameras. I believe that it is better for them and better for us, too. I think it is a great thing. That right there it is a little bit it is good. His department is working with professors from the law school at New York University to set specific guidelines for camera use. Camden county captain gab re al camacho helps oversee the Body Camera Program. Our officers, as well, and overall making us better. Atlantic city already uses the tiny cameras, philadelphia is still looking at them. Philly Police Officials want all 6500 officers to have them by 2019. Twenty years from now well have the cameras still on us, hopefully we will be driving hovering vehicles. Okay, we might not see hovering cars in the next 20 years, but you can bet that most Police Officers around the country will have body cameras. A two alarm fire sweeps through a house in norristown, sending several people to the hospital. Eyewitness News Reporter anita oh, is live at the scene, and anita i understand you just got to the scene. What can you tell us . Good morning, rahel, very active scene out here, police, fire crews, still on the scene, we know that eight people were hurt and taken to local hospitalization. I want to take you right to the scene, right now, as you can see, many crews are still here. We are told that all eight people were already transported to the hospital, and the fire as you can see has been put out now. This is on dekalb and oak streets, told this fire happened about 4 00 this morning, i just spoke to neighbor actually who lives across the street, he describes the chaos that happened. He says his friends lives in this home and has two young daughters who are badly injured in the fire and also taken to the hospital. Again, right now we know that eight people were injured, and taken to the hospital, as you can see, very active scene here, plenty of crews still on the scene. This is what we know so far. Buckle was caught on Surveillance Video at cvs99 30 wednesday morning, police think he stole a truck and left it there. Authority say resident will still see an increase Dollars Police presence, a Police Officer will be at every Single School until buck sell captured. A crash and a frantic search for help ends in tragedy when a driver is hit and killed by a passing car that just kept going. It happened friday morning, along route five, in depford, gloucester county. Cleve bryan report from the campus of Rowan University where the victim worked. A situation that went from bad to worse. Police say this morning, 32 year old annabell a trashed her car in the trees along route 55 depford, heading southbound not far from where a five and 426789 she survived that crash but not what happened next, she walked up closer to traffic possibly to get help she was struck and killed by another driver. Undetermined how she ended up in the left lane at this point, she was in fact struck by another vehicle. The driver that hit her kept going. State Police Got Call from passerby and quickly arrived from nearby bellmawr barracks. Upon arrival, we observed the vehicle ran off the side of the roadway. Also observed a body of female lying in the left travel lane of the roadway. Traffic was snarled for more than three hours as Fatal Accident Team investigated. Troopers also started looking for the driver who killed her. Then that person came to them. Authority say several hours after the crash, a man contacted police to say he was involved. They wont release details about what the man said, but after an interview, he was allowed to leave. His fate at this point is uncertain. Charges will be pending, still ongoing at this point, does not appear that that will be the case, any charges will be filed, but thats yet to be determined. Officials at Rowan University say that annabell work here for more than eight years as part of their custodian staff. They wont comment on her death but neighbors say she was very sweet and hardworking n glassboro, cleve bryan, cbs3, Eyewitness News. A Philadelphia Police k9 officer recovering from minor injuries following a crash in port richmond. You can see there, Police Cruiser suffered heavy damage, collided when another vehicle at aramingo and venango around 2 00 friday afternoon. No one was injured, and the civilian vehicle. The cause of the crash is under investigation. The Pennsylvania State police is asking for your help tracking down vandals who tossed bricks and rocks over the turnpike overpass into traffic. It happened thursday night, on the eastbound turnpike near Bristol Oxford valley road bristol township. In all, three tractortrailers were damaged. One driver even had to be treated at the hospital for cuts to his face. Investigators say it is fortunate no one was killed. The first truck was able to pull over safely. The second one, it went through the windshield, and then operator had to be taken to the hospital for care. Authorities believe juveniles were responsible for the bad behavior. They are urging local parent to talk to their children, and provide any information they may learn. Penn state says it does not have records from 40 years ago, to help evaluate a claim that former football coach, joe paterno, was told by a boy in 1976 that Jerry Sandusky molested him. The question, who knew what and when at penn state deepens. Now, come the revelation a case of child sex abuse may have been brought to the attention of coach joe paterno, as early as 1976. It is the first time this claim has been made public. That allegation is found in a court filing by a philadelphia judge, as penn state battles to determine if it is insurers are responsible for reimbursing costs for Jerry Sanduskys victims, a suggestion that paterno family disputes.
