And up in the poconos, 16 degrees, so still cold enough to make fresh snow up in the resort. So still good skiing going on this weekend before that warm up next week. We are dry now, clear skies, in the the clouds starting to move in central pennsylvania, theyll be shifting eastward over the next six hours or so, so see little sunshine this morning, clouds thicken up this afternoon into tonight. Here is the next weak disturbance, fast moving clipper system, snow showers breaking out across the great lakes. By it the get here loses moisture, still see few flurries or snow showers into the overnight into very early sunday morning, so weekends chill going on. So today temperatures only in the low to mid 40s at best. Here comes little disturbance passing by to the south and west overnight. Few flurries maybe even a rain shower coming in early sunday, but sunday afternoon back to sunshine, temperatures holding in the mid and maybe even upper 40s, but then start to feel the difference monday. Bring back above average temperatures, 50s, maybe even close to 60 degrees. So now it will start feeling like april. Then eventually may as we head toward the middle of the week. Heres what to expect, over night into tomorrow morning early, few rain or snow showers, not a big deal, best chance to see it between two a. M. And 8 00 a. M. M. , start to see snow showers braking out, not everybody even seize it, then it is gone by about 7 00, 8 00. Returning to sunshine sunday afternoon. Temperatures today, look at that, struggling to low and mid 40s at best, thats below average, should be close to 50 this time of year. Tonight near freeze nag lot of spot. Little bit milder, than what we are dealing with this morning, then tomorrows afternoon temperatures again 40s, cooler than average for this time of year. Today chilly, partly sunny, 45 degrees. Tonight some snow showers arrive overnight. Thirtythree for the low temperature, and then check out this extended forecast, if you like the warmth, just wait few more days. We go from the 40s, to upper 50s monday. Sixtyeight tuesday, maybe even hitting 70 tuesday, then potentially at least 07 degrees on wednesday. We can be even warmer than that before our next storm bridges some showers in here with temperatures still not bad next thursday, in the 60s, so thats typical for may, not march, rahel. Still got to get through couple of days here. So people who like the Colder Weather enjoy today and tomorrow. Highs are still running a bit below average. See little bit of snow in the forecast, too. Later on tonight, then, next week, talking about the big warm up. Tonight nice, cold, temperatures in the 20s now, all of the suggest suburbs, 30 officially at the airport, 26 in atlantic city. And again, to the north and west, even colderment look at pottstown, checking in at 22 degrees this hour, mid twos, in doylestown. Mt. Holly comes in at 28 degrees. Enough after breeze out here, right now, to bring the win chill values down into the teens. So, unexposed skin does feel like 15 in reading, 18 allentown, 19 degrees in wilmington. So the heavier coat, the hats, the gloves, certainly, will be needed early this morning. Then we return to sunshine, but still the story this weekend will be the colder than average temperatures, and thats the trend. So high today. Only 45 degrees for philadelphia. So still below average. Low 40s at the shore, mid 30s at the poconos, cold day, even the second half of the weekend not whole lot better. We start getting closer to average on sunday with temperatures back into the upper 40s, then we will talk about a run at 70 degrees, and maybe few days of that seven day forecast coming up in a few minute, rahel, back to you. Sounds good, thanks, justin. As we just heard from justin, not quite feeling like spring right now, it is time to smell the roses. The annual Philadelphia Flower Show opens today, this morning, we are going inside the Convention Center to see the beautiful displays. Eyewitness News Reporter anita oh, is live there now where the doors will open in just a few hours, and you have preview. Good morning, anita. Definitely feels like escape from those chillier temperatures. Feels like jumping into spring with all of the beautiful blooms annex inch its here. Where i am stand something called the hotter i court. Although ton every exhibit inspired by the National Park service, it is explore america. This area as i said is the hotter i court. This is where people have submitted beautiful plant that theyve worked on for a long time. So you can see, the competition here, the prize taz were awarded last night, so you can see that the ribbons from last night have been awarded and these are so unique and a lot of time has gone into this, and allen joffe of the pennsylvania horticultural sewed is here. If i was a judge i dont think that i could pick one which wins first prize, so many beautiful things here. So what are judges looking for . Theyre looking for the perfect example after particular species, a particular variety of plants. So, they are looking for how healthy the plant is, the shape of the plant, how well it is cared for, a lot of different factors come into play. The judges are really experts in their fields. So they know exactly what to look for, and the people who are brinking in their plants, you know, people very passionate about what they do, as well. So, they are very well cared for. They know exactly how to, you know, prevent pests from invading the plant, right amount of light, right amount of water. These are really beautiful perfect examples of the various species here. But anybody can be part of the flower show. Anybody can participate in the horticourt. We have beginners, we have children, we have young people who participate as well as experts who have been doing it for decades, who may be coming in with hundreds of plants from their greenhouse. But somebody who just pulled a plant from their window sill might be able to get the blue ribbon versus somebody who has a grand house and maybe their plant not quite as nice as that beginner. Now, although there are a lot of new exhibit here, and, you know, new theme every year, this is kinds of the foundation, this is what the whole flower show was centered around. Can you talk more about the history what this means . Yes. The flower show began back in 1829. And it was a group of people, members of the pennsylvania horticultural society, who wanted to show off their own plants, share knowledge about them, but really, really just exhibit them. Show people what theyve grown. Bring in plants from other part of the world, introduce them to the american public. One of the plants that was introduced at the very first show was the pointsetia from mexico. Now it is the plant everybody has at the holidays. Back in 1829 it was something brand new to the people here in this country. Weve introduced many, many plant, many, many varieties over the years through those kind of exhibits. Soap, this is really the historical heart of the flower show. It is the opportunity to learn a lot more about plants, to share your knowledge, to learn from people who have been doing it much longer than you. And just show off a little bit. Yes. And there definitely is a lot of showing off happening. This is the pride and joy of so many people. And you said although they get these ribbons, can you talk about the prize . There is no, you know, monetary prize of course. But why do you think that people are so invested in bringing their pride and joy here . Well, the Philadelphia Flower Show is the premiere horticultural event in the united state. It a great deal of prestige to say you won a ribbon at the show. I think it is fan that is took say you participated in the show. Not everybody will get a ribbon, but those people, that really work at it, you know, really polish up that green thumb, theyre going get the blue ribbon. Theyll get the bragging right, wonderful honor. Absolutely, thank you so much, allen. If you want to come check it out stores open for members at 8 00, to the general public at 11 00.
