The offramp is closed until 6 00 a. M. Heres the latest on the developing story weve been following, a 6yearold boy back safe with his family after a terrifying night. The boy was asleep in a car when someone stole that car from a parking lot. Eyewitness news jan carabeo joins us in the frankford second of northeast with more on this. Jan. Reporter the suspect is still at large. This morning, fortunately, as you mentioned, both stolen car and the little boy who was asleep inside of it have both been found. The little boy is aok this morning, unharm. Police say he was sleeping through the entire thing. Now, he and his mother were reunited behind me here at the 7eleven earlier this morning in the frankford second of physical. Take a look at the video. Eyewitness news was there for this reunited mother and son. The reunion here early this morning. Of course, this is a 7eleven at Bridge Street and oxford avenue. Police say all of us started around 2 30 this morning when his stepfather drove his 6yearold son to this 7eleven. When they arrived. The stepfather went inside and left the boy in the back seat of his car with the car still running. Thats when police say another man got in the car and sped off with the little boy still sleeping in the back seat. He only had his pajamas on. That car was found just about 30 minutes later. Thats about half mile away on the 4900 block of leaper street. They say the suspect ditched car and the little boy. Fortunately. Police say the little boy slept through the entire ordeal. Take a listen. Anything could happen. The fact that the 6yearold stayed asleep, i think made it better for him and everyone. Hes not injured at all. Family talked to him. We looked at him. We got him his inhaler. We got him a doughnut at 7eleven. He seems fine. Reporter so you heard Keith Spector scott say fortunately the child was sleeping and fertilely the suspect left the car running because it is frigid tonight of the child was still warm and fortunatelyly, because he didnt wake up, he didnt have to worry about any asthma attacks by being frightened because he didnt have his inhaler with him. Certainly, a frightening night for this family. This child was gone about three minutes before police found him and reunited with his mother about 30 minutes later. A 60minute ordeal for mom. Again, child is safe with her this morning. Again, police are still looking for the suspect. They have the car again in custody, i they will be going through it looking for fingerprints and dna. Philadelphia firefighters battle intense flames and frigid temperatures trying to place this big fire under control. The fire broke out late last night at the cobbs creek golf course in overbrook. Thats where we find Eyewitness News reporter justin finchch. Whats the latest . Reporter erika, good morning, philadelphia forecrews were on scene about ten minutes to 11 00 last night. As you can see behind me here theyve remained here ever since watching for hot spots and other hazards at this burned out club house. Lets take you to video now. There are two buildings, were told behind this building here that caught fire that had been spared heavy damage here. The flames covered most of that building. That club house last night. Officials say there were fire crews inside, but they had to withdraw and moved to attack the one alarm fire from the outside. The flames here moved very quickly. Jumping up zeroing into ceilings. The fire fight was made harder by water issues were told in the sub freezeing temperatures. Firefighters say water pressure already low in this area complicating their effort, so upper darby fire crews were on hand too supplying additional water. That was a big help this fire was brought under control in just under two hours and no doubt this overnight cold called for extra caution. We have to be carefully way were operating in a fire ground. The water spraying all over icing things up, we have to keep our equipment moving. When we try to take it down, it will break, we have to be cognizant of keeping the equipment moving. A 6yearold child safely back with his parents after a scary situation overnight. That boys stepfather left him asleep in the car to run into a 7eleven at bridge and oxford.
