Contract negotiations between septa and two unions failed forcing more than 400 workers to walk off the job watch midnight. Eyewitness News Reporter Steve Patterson live at powelton rail yard with the details on the strike, steve good morning. Well, good morning nicole. So were about five hours into this strike after septa and the unions just could not come to an agreement, which does mean that, yes those 13 Regional Rail lines that commute probably about 60,000 riders a day now shutdown. 450 Regional Rail engineers and electrician was those two unions are off the job at this time. Theyre fighting over what you might expect, retroactive wage increases, contributions, to healthcare for those septa workers, now, it is important to say this. The strike will in the affect other methods of transportation, so if you are tacking about buses subways trolleys, all of those are still on. In fact septa Officials Say they are adding additional transportation as part of a contingency plan that should now be in effectment last dish effort could have been still technically could be mediated federal president ial emergency board to prevent the strike in lou of more time for negotiating. But septa officials we spoke to say theyre just not interested. At this time we have no plans. Septa management has no plans to ask for a president ial emergency board. Why . Good morning, story about numbers, if you look at the numbers, 06,000 riders per day take those 13 Regional Rail lines, which as you mentioned are not shutdown are now shutdown after septa and the union could not come to agreement. Further numbers, 450 workers those are engineers electricians, with two unions, now walk being off the job. They are fighting for what you might expect, wage increases contribution fos healthcare, for those septa workers. Tomorrow, we get into the 80s and then, boy it is nellie bar the door after that temperature wise, because weve got this High Pressure system just pumping up the heat. And thats going to be going on monday, tuesday and wednesday, of this week. Our future weather we get rid of the clouds, we have sunshine today. Weve got sunshine tomorrow. Weve got sunshine for monday, as well, and then maybe we pick up a chance of getting a shower around here, than would be pretty much starting tuesday. So, you can see, on monday, in advance of cold front few showers to the north and west, are possible for the rest of it is looks like a day that is just going to be hot. What started as cries for help turned into something completely different. As reporter Robert Goldstein tells us, turns oust the boys crying daddy daddy wasnt a child. It was a parrot. At first the woman hearing the voice did not know what to think. She was near a school in this fairfield neighborhood when she heard what sounded like a childs cries for help. The voice kept saying daddy, daddy daddy, then said what, almost as if the child was talking to somebody. The woman calls police, then started following the cries. As she was looking for the source of the voice she kept following it, and it brought her to a tree near the school, where she looked up and saw that it was a parrot. Parrot, ram of ralphy to be exact the voice was not a child at all but a bird about 25 feet up in a tree. It was saying daddy daddy daddy, over and over again. It turns out ralphy had been missing for days, his owner lives about a mile away, police rescued ralphy and brought him home. Were just happen that i there were no children that were hurt and it wasnt a child at all but in fact the birds that was lost yearning for its father or daddy we got it back to it. Awe.
