New this morning two people are hospitalized after a fast moving fire sweeps through several homes in north philadelphia overnight. Eyewitness News Reporter jane carabao is at the scene in hunting park where a Good Samaritan led a family to safety, jen, good morning. Reporter good morning erika and ukee. Fire crews remain on the scene keeping an eye on the hot spots and up vest faithors are here to determine the cause of the fire. Im told a special k9 unit is on the scene to help do that. In the meantime fire crews are still just keeping an eye on everything as this fire spread quickly and ended up damaging five homes on north park avenue. Deputy fire chief says it was porch construction that helped spread these flames from one house to the next. Fortunately there were no serious injuries but 18 people including six children now have to find a new place to stay. This is 3800 block of north park avenue in hunting park. Fire fighters have been on the scene since 11 30 when they first arrived on the scene heavy fire was seen on the first and second floors of the home where the fire started. Flames were spotted on the first floor of a neighboring home as well and, in all, five homes were scorched by this fire. Abruptly 60 Fire Fighters an hurry to get flames under control. No Fire Fighters were hurt but they rescued two men from inside burning buildings. These men were transported to the hospital in stable condition and they have since been released. Red cross ace cyst continuing those displaced. In the meantime fire marshall is working to determine the cause of the fire and whether these homes had working smoke alarms. That is under investigation as well. We want to encourage everyone to install a smoke alarm one on every floor and in every bedroom if possible. Smoke alarms they may not prevent fires but they do save lives. Reporter again, fire investigators are on the scene taking a look at the building and fire crews are keeping an eye on those hot spots. If you are traveling out of the city to the south to the east that is where youll find these heavier round of rain. When we put things in motion what is happening here is that things are rotating through. We are going to see this rain eventually filter into portions of southeastern, pennsylvania as well.
