Traffic. It will affect the a. M. Commuters and p. M. Commuters and everyone in between we have check point and closures and different roads all over the place. Well get to all this all morning long. Busy. And certainly thankfully the storms are outer out of here. Thankfully the humidity is dropping off as well. It will be a hot day. But at least it should not feel as uncomfortable. Yesterday was oppressive right. You walked out the door and it was there you go, brook, proverbial pea soup. Yesterday it hit 97. That did break the record. We were on point with what we forecasted and sure enough a new number for the record books. Now, at this point its still very muggy outside. Now we can see even the clouds and leftover showers starting to retreat off to the south and as a result of that were clearing out the atmosphere a little here and in wake of a cold front well see dew points drop off. So its still muggy and definitely still warm. Further north you go the more comfortable it will be this morning however everyone gets in on lowering humidity as the day goes on. Its a fantastic pool day, beach day, you want to take care. Were hitting 95 degrees at the hite of the afternoon in full sunshine. It will scorch you. But at least against its not as humid therefore not as oppressive as yesterday was. We like to compare. How was it yesterday and today is better meisha. I can feel it this morning already, katie, thank you so much. Okay, good morning you guys. Well jump in and faulk about the closures most of which we talked about yesterday. If you missed it yesterday well talk about it again today. What you are looking at now is a map of the closures around wells fargo September Erin fdr park. Three main ones you should be aware. We were talking about these yesterday, broad street, patterson and terminal avenue are completely closed. Heres a live shot at broad street pattison avenue. Quiet, you can expect that. Schuylkill to packer is closed between 2 p. M. And 2 a. M. This is a live look outside 59 ramp to broad and 95 north closed all week and closed except for the navy yard and between 2 p. M. And 2 p. M. Make note of that for those of you around that area. We have a khoyk point vine eastbound ram top 95 both directions between vine and platt. No vehicles at the check point over five tons are allowed. 95 southbound at vine street expressway and 95 northbound near platt priming and theres more. Accident here this morning, collegeville main street at fourth street. Over to you. Thanks, meisha on the first day of Democratic NationalConvention Bernie Sanders calls for unity. Eyewitness News ReporterBernie Sanders urged his outstanding supporters to elect Hillary Clinton. Brook, jim, good morning, well hear from senator sanders in a minute. First we are day two of the Democratic National convention and expecting more fireworks inside the Wells Fargo Center tonight as former president bill clinton takes the main stage. Hell speak to a passionate crowd during primetime and hes got work to do. I spoke to Bernie Sanders delegates from pennsylvania yesterday and they were upset by the leaked emails that suggested dnc favored clinton over sanders for the primary race. Last night when he took the dnc stage and spotlight the vermont senator urged fans to rally behind Hillary Clinton. And earlier in the day took the time to speak directly to his supporters and send them Text Messages uming party unity bays during the day the mere mention of clintons name garnered boos from loyal supporters and last night he made the appeal as the last speaker monday night say looking forward to roll duel officially nominate Hillary Clinton. Take a listen. I have known Hillary Clinton for 25 years. I remember her as you do, as a great first lady who broke precedent in terms of the role that a first lady was supposed to play as she helped lead the fight for universal healthcare. Any objective observer will conclude that based on her ideas and her leadership, Hillary Clinton must become the next president of the united states. So, sanders most definitely spoke to party unity. A couple of other speakers, however, contrasted Hillary Clintons style to republican candidate in donald trump. Well look at that side of the issue coming up in the next hour. Reporting live inside the Wells Fargo Center this morning, jan carabeo. Thank you for the update. Michelle obamas remarks are getting a lot of credit. She took the stage to loud cheers and applause. She spoke about raezing her daughter in the political spotlight and apparent criticism of donald trump she said she and her husband encouraged her daughters rise above harsh language. How we explain when someone is cruel or acts like a bully you dont stoop to the level. Our motto is when they go low, we go high. She later said of Hillary Clinton, im with her. Well, Philadelphia Police are gearing up for another day of protests after a rather peaceful day one. Thousands of protesters from various groups marched down south broad to fdr park. They then braved heat and then downpour. Protesters were divided on whether there could be party unity after apparent leak of dnc committee emails that show bias towards Hillary Clinton and other protesters held a death of democracy vigil. Were all in. We want democracy. Theyve killed democracy and it will be reborn on the streets. Earlier protests near the Wells Fargo Center authorized authorities to briefly shut down a portion of the broad street line. Police cited roughly 50 people broad and pat i sop for Disorderly Conduct and there were no arrests. While many businesss in center city are raking in the doe from the dnc other shops close to the Wells Fargo Center are not doing well. Two days in a row customers were replaced by dnc protesters along south broad. Thousands of protesters tide up traffic. Some businesses, like sc ne cios, bob are forced to close and losses thousands of dollar dollars. Were on then the protester game, bernie protesters and we had like two tables and after that everybody started calling and canceling and we closed on at 4 and closed at 6. Now another factor making life difficult for businesses on south broad customers cannot park in the median during the convention. Yeah. It was awe loud evening in south philly and pretty much anywhere else. Yeah, there was a lot of lightening with that. We saw so many different eyewitness videos on twitter and it was a mess out there. Thankfully at this point we saw worst of storms retreat. Were in the clear as far as that goes. Humidity still somewhat palpable as you head to the south its a day of transition its hot even humidity did decreasing, storm cam 3 tracking retreat of this humidity even within most southern delaware you are tracking thunderstorms and they continue to retreat south as skies continue to clear with time. High pressure is building in place and it will help influence a much just not as oppressive kind of outcome here for the rest day. What did i tell you . Dew points are pretty high. Its muggy outside to kick start the morning with dewpoint 3 currently in philadelphia. Its awfully close to where actual temperature is air temperature. So that basically means you have a pretty saturated air mass. Those levels are dropping over the further south travel. That will be that downward drop that we see take place through the course of the day north to south. While it is not necessarily oppressive or even insufferable today its going to be somewhat of a steamy day. By comparison to yesterday well take this i want to you take care as you head out in this. Because were still talking 95 degrees and its still humid. Again nor nero pressiveness of what happened yesterday. Its still hot and sunny day. Great excuse to hit the pool and make sure you later on the sun block. Still warm and we keep the 90s going for a few more days and well finally break them by friday. Meesh a. Over to you. All right. Katie, thank you so much. Still talking about closures well be dealing with all week long. Lets get into. It a live look outside at the check point vine eastbound ram top 95. 95 both directions between vine and platt. No vehicles are allowed at the checkpoints over five tons. You can see theyre out there this morning and will be round the clock for the rest week and closures here. You cannot see were zoomed out a little and 9 5 ramps to prood and 95 north southbound closed exempt for navy yard and 95 south completely closed between 2 p. M. And 2 a. M. Dail daily. This sa round the Wells Fargo Center and remember three main streets closed. Broad street. Pattison avenue and broad street. Are you looking at broad at pattison you see what it looks like all closed down we can expect that. Checkpoints here. And vine street expressway northbound and southbound and 95 northbound near platt bridge. A lot of this is redundant. Overall well be covering this over and overall day today. And meisha im happy to report what well find is full sunshine across the Delaware Valley and lowe lowering humidity with time and its still hot outside. But i would say its going to be a better day than yesterday was if youre not a fan of that oppressiveness that we had to deal with with the high dew points. Lets get you out there storm scan nice and quiet and eventhon loop a retreat of showers across portions of Sussex County in the last few hours. We had a couple showers to dodge. Those are all narrowly retreating and that will be the theme through the day. Lots of sunshine expected and yes, its still hot. You still need to be smart about being out for extended period of time in this and taking frequent breaks and drinking plenty of water and thankfully its less humid and uv index as you might imagine nice and high. So sun block is highly required here. If are you going to be signature pool side. Low 90s continuing tomorrow and thursday and both days feature son and at least potential for showers or thunderstorm and friday lows look numerous and temperatures are finally not in the 90s. And how about that for a change. That will be nice for the first time in i while, meisha, majority of 7 day is not in the 90s. I never thought i would say that but im saying that yes. 90s, bye.
