Jim, great news for us with this current shift in the track but horrible news for florida and the southeast coast. Heres the latest stats as of 11 00 oclock this morning. The storm now back out over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean here and about 55 miles north of cuba able to intensify again were back up to 120 strong category three storm now moving northwest at 12. We expect that track so thats still on schedule as it heads towards the florida coast over the next 48 hours but it may intensify back up to a category four storm early friday morning projected winds at 130 miles an hour. Its just offshore of east coast of florida then kind of loops to the north and then back out to sea well south of hatteras but this storm kind of lingers around even into monday so horrible news for the southeast coast. Now why the sudden shift in the track. Its all about the jet stream and the High Pressure weve been talking about this for of the past several days. Strong ridge of High Pressure still pushing matthew towards the florida coast that will happen for sure. Were watching this jet stream looks like now this jet will be little more flatter so able to push the storm quicker out to sea had little bit of a dip to it. Could pick it up and move back to north at this point it does not look like it happens so again the flow takes it into the florida coast so with that hurricane warnings in effect for all the ba ham has even the costed of of florida. Hurricane conditions possible in the next 36 hours and im sure theyll issue hurricane watches up to georgia and South Carolina coast over the next day or so. Look at the winds highest winds speed off the coast of florida. Winds just pounding the water into northern florida. Georgia, South Carolina, so storm surge potential three to maybe even 6 feet.
