A plan to arm members of the Public Safety department has students up in arms. Eyewitness News ReporterSteve Paterson is live where students are holding a protest a about that decision, steve. Reporter nicole, that protest is happening as we speak. Students along with some staff, and faculty are marching through campus. So first thing we will do is get your eyes on and show you video from early this morning. Those students gathering, the students, their basic argument is this, the policy is fighting fire with what they call fire, only fanning the flames, of fear on college campuses, that guns would only increase tensions on campus, not to mention instances of racial profiling, and undone force. University counters by saying they have been transparent with this Holding Public forums, conducting surveys, even contracting independent study, all based on data a, that said that this is the best course of action for the safety of their students. Regardless, next fall about 20 r Public Safety force will be armed. We got reaction from those students. I think an institution in meant to be nurturing, loving, and a safe place for everybody to learn, and come together, a community, and i think that this policy ultimately threatens our communitys safety. It is a response to the fear and i dont think guns are a solution to guns. I just dont think that this lines with the Catholic Values of this university and the mission of this university and i am not sure that all students would feel safer with the the presence of an armed police force. Now to the latest on the deadly crash in france, at least 43 people are dead after a tour bus collided with a truck. Bus caught fire after the wreck in frances wine region. Now some people managed to escape by breaking windows. That bus was transporting retirees on a day trip. This is the deadliest crash by the way in france in more than 30 years. The front of the school busies crashed after colliding with a tractor trailer in north jersey. This happened on route 35 in middletown Monmouth County this morning. Authorities say that there were no children on the bus but the driver was pinned inside for quite sometime.
