Right now on Eyewitness News, protestors descend on a Philadelphia Police district amid a fourth straight day of 81 rest in the city. Good evening everyone, im Natasha Brown. Thanks for joining us. About 300 people arrived at the 24th district in juniata park shortly after 9 oclock tonight. They were speaking out about recent Police Involved shootings in louisiana and minnesota. Trang do is there live for us tonight with the very latest. Trang. Reporter well, natasha, this protest started about 6 oclock about a mile and a half away and protestors just walked out of here around 10 30, whitaker avenue now reopened to traffic. At times protestors used some pretty Strong Language and profanity but for the most part the march went out without incident. Are you tired . Are you tired. Yes. Are you tired. Yes. Reporter a multicultural crowd came together at the corner of north plasher and west cambria in fairhill for the fourth protest in as many nights in philadelphia. Whose streets. Our streets. Whose streets. Our streets. Reporter philly coalition for real justice included some demonstrators who rallied against Police Brutality for decades. Nothing has changed. If anything its getting worse. The only thing is going to change is the people. Its not going to come from the establishment. Its going to come from the people rising up to put an end to it. Reporter the crowd spread their message through the streets of philadelphia. This is what we do every day. Were here regardless of what the message is were here to make sure everyone is safe. Who we are. So well tell them. Reporter sherri has three sons. Her two youngest joined her at the rally. She says she fears for their safety. I got a son that stands almost 6foot four. He can be miss labeled at any given time as a thug as anything and i fear for his safety as well as the ones that come up lined him and the other children that are growing up in our community. Reporter a group of about 300 ended the night outside the 24th and 25th Police Districts in juniata park where a line of officers waited to receive them. At one point protestors yelling at officers directly in their faces. And despite those tense moments, no one was arrested at this protest but for now were live from juniata park, im trang do, cbs3 Eyewitness News. Trang, thank you very much. Also protestors turned out across the country today in pittsburgh, a demonstration stopped traffic and protestors voiced their anger. In chicago, a group vowed to shut down the taste of chicago food festival. They marched at the event with their hands held high and in atlanta, demonstrators also walked in silence. Now dallas is still on edge following the Deadly Police ambush. Police officers spent a couple of hours tonight searching for a suspicious person in a parking garage right next to police headquarters. The all clear was finally given about an hour ago. Meantime flowers and cards are piling up on two Police Cruisers that have become a memorial for the five fallen officers. Cbs news sources say gunman Micah Johnson had been stockpiling weapons and building an arsenal over the last two years. Love is the answer. A walking prayer vigil moved through north philadelphia today as the protests swept over the city. Citizens and Police Officers marched together to mourn deadly violence. They say love is the answer and relations between police and the Community Must improve. The first time that meeting should happen shouldnt be under a violent or tense situation. They should get to know each other and thats a form of community policing. Local officers across the region and have taken to facebook giving thanks for support theyve received. One man literally took a stand in browns mills burlington county. He spent hours waving a flag in memory of the fallen Police Officers in dallas. And more support for Police Officers in chester county. Someone delivered a floral arrangement to the North Coventry Township Police department today. The sender wished to remain anonymous. Lets get the very latest from meteorologist kyla grogan in for lauren casey. Hey, kyla. I have good news. Monmouth and ocean county your Severe Thunderstorm Warning just expired. You can see this line of heavy thunderstorms that had been rolling through here and theyre starting to lose their strength. Notice the darker reds turn to those lighter yellows. Thats good news and its also starting to lose some of that lightning with it, too. Thats pretty dangerous stuff. Here are some of the effects of that storm. Allentown saw 52 Miles Per Hour gusts, wires down in hopewell township, downed trees in bridgeton and unless fairton so this one caused a bit of a mess for many people tonight. In philadelphia were not fairing quite thatd whatly. Were doing just fine. 75 degrees there right now, the winds are calm. Notice our feelslike temperature at 75. Were not quite getting a break from the humidity yet but it is on the way so get ready for that everybody. That Stormy Weather is moving out tonight. That break from the humidity coming in after that. And that means a stellar start to your week. So, some things to look forward to as we look into our forecast over the next few days. A fast moving foyer destroys multiple homes in a philadelphia neighborhood and sends two people to the hospital. Eyewitness News Reporter anita oh has the story now from cobbs creek. Reporter the sound of chaos. I just heard people saying yelling get out get out. Fire, fire. Reporter thats what Antoinette Thompson woke up to around 1 oclock saturday morning when flames erupted next door isnt they came like whoosh. Reporter firefighters rushed to the 5800 block of larchwood avenue to put out a blaze which tour through four row homes and damaged a dozen others. I ran outside and i just seen flames that spread to each house. Reporter Emergency Responders took two injured people to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center but everyone made it out alive. Neighbors say their tight knit block is to thank. I began banging on peoples doors. The fire began spreading really fast so i ran from house to house and the fire just followed me. Reporter even luckier they say is that the fire appears to have sparked at an empty home. Neighbors tell me this family that lived inside this home had recently been evicted. You can see piles of trash and Old Furniture are still littering the streets. And as restoration crews worked to repair the damage to surrounding homes, those who live on this block say the embers could have ended with tragedy but instead anything theyve lost can be replaced isnt we still have a house. Were just 16 days away from the Democratic National convention right here in philadelphia. And as we prepare the Democratic Party has now announced a major change to its platform. Late yesterday the democrats added a 15 per hour federal minimum wage. Its a victory for Bernie Sanders. The 15 an hour federal minimum wage was one of his pledges during his campaign. Republicans say raising the minimum wage would actually hurt the working class because it will raise costs for businesses ultimately leading to job losses. Hillary clinton meantime is wooing Bernie Sanders supporters right now. Today the Presumptive Democratic nominee announced her support for creating a public option within the healthcare law. Sanders championed the creation of a private government run Insurance Plan to compete with private insurers offering coverage through the Affordable Care act exchanges. Sanders praised clintons announcement on twitter. Presumptive republican president ial nominee donald trump attended a fundraiser in southampton new york today. This is video of trumps motorcade arriving early this morning. The event was held at the home of investor wilbur ross. Ross is on a list of president ial trustees helping the Republican National committee raise money. Well, everyone only one Winning Ticket was sold in last nights Mega Millions drawing and it was sold in indiana not here. Sorry. Protestors have shut down a highway in minneapolis minnesota. They are demanding charges against the Police Officer who shot and killed Philando Castile wednesday in a saint paul suburb. This is just one of several protests that broke out across the nation and right here in philadelphia tonight in response to the saint paul shooting and another Police Involved shooting in baton rouge louisiana. Its still unclear if any arrests were made. A plane makes an Emergency Landing in tulsa after multiple passengers get sick. Delta flight 1817 was flying from atlanta to denver with 152 passengers on board. Nine of them were treated for nausea once the plane plane landed in tulsa. No word on what caused them to be sick. Spun stabbed a 13yearold girl in the neck in germantown on the 5200 block of marion street about 3 oclock. Shes recovering at the hospital. Philadelphia police have not made any arrests in this case and no word on what led to the stabbing. And tonight authorities have charged a brooklyn man in a hit and run that killed the cousin of philadelphia 76ers star ben simmons. 21yearold Zachary Simmons was with ben when he was selected as the number one pick in the nba draft on june 23rd. Zachary died two days later when police say Mark Nicholas struck him with his suv as he crossed the street. Investigators say Surveillance Video showed the vehicle immediately speeding away. And work does continue tonight in vineland, new jersey, to address the threat of a possible ammonia gas leak at vineland ice and cold storage. Today the epa connected part of the refrigeration symptom an air scrubber. Additional connections still have to be made. Crews are working to remove 12,000 pounds of liquified ammonia from the system and try to repair it. As a precaution authorities have relocated several families who are living near that plant until next week. Strength courage and resilience today. Philadelphia is observing World Refugee day. The city hosted a big festival is the city hall. Organizers are highlighting the growing contributions of refugees in philadelphia and spreading awareness of the challenges they face today in their search for a new home. More than 100,000 refugees have made pennsylvania a place to call home since the mid1970s. And there was plenty of dancing in camden new jersey today. Eyewitness news at the first annual puerto rican art festival. The area of sixth and cooper was transformed into a place for art, music, dance and lots of great food. Leap academys puerto rican art center made today possible. They opened to serve the Community Back in january. And a great day for a little baseball in haddonfield. The Lions Club Hosted its beep baseball tournament. The tournament gives visually impaired people a chance to play baseball. They actually use a standard softball bat and a ball that beeps. Beep baseball was first played in the 1960s. And check this out. Foul balls are always a hazard when youre at a baseball game. At todays diamondbacks game. The food and beer spilled everywhere and she got a pretty good dousing unfortunately but all was not lost. Later on in the game, she was spotted with a new beer and hopefully she was drier, can kyla. Thats gone for now. Its not quite gone but it is almost gone. We do have our no more Severe Thunderstorm Warnings so thats good news. Its about to push out to sea but were almost there. Doing just fine in philadelphia though. Were still a little bit sticky, a little bit muggy. Weve got low clouds out there and as we take a live look at center city, that camera by the way right off the top of cbs3. So, youre getting a look just like you would if you walked out there yourself. And you can see those low clouds again kind of hanging out not really moving out yet and there is because this storm system still hanging on. Now, there have been nasty reports of winds gusting up upwards of 50 Miles Per Hour, trees knocked down and you can see why when you see how punched up a lot of these storms are. They lose their power as they track west to east. Now were starting to see lighter oranges. This is just about to push out f youre on long ill happened youll be dealing with it for awhile longer. Here in philadelphia were doing fine and trenton youll get relief coming as well. Once this goes, the good news is this is pretty much it. As we take a wider view of this you start to see some counterclockwise circulation around our low pressure system. This is a front going to push out. Once it does we start to get clearer skies behind it and more importantly we get a break from the humidity. I know cheers going up in living rooms everywhere when i say. That it was a little sticky out there at a. Currently temperatures right now 75 trees in philadelphia, 70 in allentown, you can see lancaster coming in about 73 degrees. Town the shore in Atlantic City about 73 degrees for you, too. 71 in mount holly where the National Weather service has been keeping an eye on those storms and about 70 degrees in quakertown at this hour. All right. So future weather shows you that this is going to push out as we get into the overnight hours. Theres noon on sunday, pretty nice, right, just a few clouds out there. Should be a beautiful day. So, if you have plans to get out and about, sunday is going to be just fine. Look at this. We roll into monday, weve got more of the same. So, all of the kind of icky sticky weather its going to get better as the dewpoints drop down. We were in the 70s today. This is our current dewpoint now. This is future dewpoints. They go down tomorrow. By the time we get into that 4, 5 oclock time frame theyre in the low 60s, upper 50s in some spots and it gets better as we get into monday. We see them real back even further. That will help that awful feeling when you walk out the door and you think you need to take another shower even though you just took one. Tonight skies begin to clear as these storms roll away and the humidity starts to roll back. Sunshine developing on sunday, nice temperature out there. Spot on average for this time of year, 87 degrees is what were looking at. So, if youre thinking of heading out to the pool tomorrow i think its a good idea. You can do that. The sun is returning. U. V. Index will be up there, though, so watch out and get that sunscreen on. The clouds will not protect you thats for sure. Tonight overnight 71 degrees to your low. Well see those thunderstorms clear out. Winds should stay relatively calm out of the south. Theyll wick up tomorrow out of the west and well get less humidity, a little breezy and nice sunshine going on for your sunday. Its not just sunday. Take a look all right sevenday forecast. In fact, no problems really until we start to get up to those 90s again on wednesday and then thursday and friday could see a few thunderstorms roll in so well have that heat and the humidity and the thunderstorms and the bad hair days once again but were not there yet everybody. See the guy wearing the chicken suit. He was popped in the face by tour favorite chris froome. Froome later tweeted the man was waving a flag that almost got stuck in his front wheel. Froome won stage eight is that wearing the yellow jersey. You never know. You see a stray chicken running towards you you probably perceived a whack company in a yellow suit. Not funny man.
