Rocks a high school down the shore. 20 young people are facing criminal charges for sharing private pictures of students. Good evening im chris may. Im jessica dean. Police seized dozens of cell phones in their investigation. The scandal happened at a high school in lower township, Cape May County, and Eyewitness News reporter diana rocco has more now on the investigation. Reporter 19 students and one adult now charged after a sexting scandal rocks lower cape may regional high school. Police say the students were sharing naked photos of other female students. Id be devastated. It breaks my heart. Reporter parent and student involved who didnt want to be on camera and now have an attorney tell Eyewitness News this started last month when soft more and junior girls sent inappropriate photos of themselves to boy students. The boys then began sharing the photos with friends on social media. Police say they were notified when another student told a teacher. 27 cell phones were confiscated and police began a criminal investigation after finding quote numerous nude and partially nude photos of female students. The student involved who we spoke to is a freshman and didnt want to be on camera. He says he was suspended for one day but has since returned to class. The 19 juveniles and one adult have now been charged with third degree invasion of privacy. Its just wrong. Like, i really hope they get all sorted out as quickly as possible. Reporter students say phones are still being confiscated and most of the school either knows who is involved or has seen the photos. You shouldnt this shouldnt be happening. Its sad for them and their families. For the boys involved. For the boys involved as well it really is. Its a shame. I would like them to get counseling. I think our school should make the parents more aware of how to check the kids phones. Reporter Cape May County prosecutor call the prevalence of sexting among high school and middle School Children concerning. Their offering free seminars on the Cyber Bullying and second ting. Back in march it came to light mail students at north Penn High School traded photos of female students using drop box thats a file sharing sap. No charges have been filed in that case. And last year, authorities investigated sexting at neshaminy high school. Eight students there were issued citations. A Penn State Fraternity is kicked off campus for three years after posting inappropriate photos on facebook facebook. University investigation found that members of capita delta road did up load photos of nude and semi nude women to private facebook page. The school also uncovered instances of Sexual Harassment and hazing. At fraternity has immediately been dropped as a Campus Organization until may of 2018. Penn state Officials Say such behavior will not be tolerated. Police are looking to night for a man who pointed a cell phone of a shoppers skirt at a wegmans this happened may nine at the wegmans store on beth had he hem pike in Montgomery Township. Police releaseed this surveillance photo of the suspect. He say he walk out of the store after the woman confronted him and then drove away in a mini van. Philadelphia police are investigating whether the same suspect is responsible for two different assaults on women. Latest attack happened monday in point breeze a woman woke up to a suspect standing over her bed at her home on rosewood street. He demanded money and sexual sexually assaulted her. Police believe the same suspect may be responsible for an assault nearby on chadwick street in march. The individual may be from win that neighbor. This is a composite sketch of that suspect. And both cases police say the suspect wore red or orange gloves. Police are also looking for a pair of teenagers in a string of robberies that happened near tim pell university. Six different times the suspects approached victims with a handgun and demanded cell phones and other valuables. The two suspects are both described as black teenagers with medium build builds. But this is a cold front and its going to get little closer each day. As it does it will push up warm humid air up the coastal plane and we will be feeling it during the day tomorrow. Now, during the heat of the day well see some showers and a few thunderstorms pop up. Especially north and west of the city. The risk of Severe Weather the best chance of Severe Weather will be in the lehigh val and the poconos by about five, 6 00 oclock in the afternoon well see the storms firing up. Theyll move through the suburbs through philadelphia and then by the late night hours they will will be gone. Once again on thursday, during the afternoon a few showers imbedded thunderstorms popping up. The front is finally through and then we dry it out by friday. Now, as far as what to expect tomorrow some scattered showers and storms mainly in the afternoon and evening. Some with locally heavy downpours. The possibility of hail and even some gusty winds. So please be aware of that. Otherwise were looking at really dry conditions for the month of may. And you can see normally dry in yellow in southeastern pennsylvania central and northern new jersey and where you see the tan color through reading, berks county Lehigh Valley and the poconos thats moderate drought conditions. That means we could be seeing some voluntary water restrictions soon if this dry weather continues and were at least 2. 5inches below normal in rainfall just for the month of may alone.
