The womans son was walking with her and was injured as well but he will survive. Tonight investigators are looking after Surveillance Video trying to get a clearer picture of what happened. Noel mclaren has more. It didnt really work out for her, so reporter Ronald Dejesus says telling his eightyearold grandson that his mother couldnt be saved after she was struck by a septa bus was one of the hardest things hes ever had to do. Tonight he visited the spot where his daughter sheena white was struck to pay his respects and to be with his ground grandson who was walking with her when she was run over and killed. To lose a child. Dont want to see your child leave this earth before you. When its the other way around its terrible. Reporter police say the 29yearold mother was crossing washington avenue with her son by her said when she was hit. When officers arrived they say they found the little boy had fallen to the ground but was trying to save his mother. He was trying to render aid to his mother and he was sitting there with his mother when they got her. Reporter dejesus says his grandson is in the hospital recovering from bumps bruises an possible concussion sustained from the incident. Hes also learning to adjust to living without any parents. All we can do is hold him and tell him, you know, its going to be okay. Reporter as support begins to come in from the community where white was killed he wonders how such a tragedy could have possibly happened. Im definitely going to have a lot of questions. I know that theyre doing their investigation. She had my grandson with her so i know that she was using precaution. Reporter police say theyre reviewing video recorded on that bus as part of their investigation. Were in south philadelphia, noel mclaren, cbs3 Eyewitness News. Well, also tonight a little girl is fighting for her life after being attacked by a pitbull inside of her own home. It happened on abilene drive in newark delaware this afternoon. The girls 15yearold sister fought off the dog and called 911. Responding officers say the animal was so aggressive they had to shoot it. A neighbor describes the chaotic scene. I see when they bring out the kid on the stretcher, blood all over her and the bigger sister, her skin was blood. I didnt know they have a pitbull. I know theres a other german shepherd. The victim did suffer soft tissue injuries and is listed in critical hospital. Neighbors tell us the victim is the daughter of a newark city councilman. Charges are pending in a hit and run crash that left a grandfather dead and his grandson injured in philadelphias mount airy neighborhood. Authorities say they were inside a red car when a green suv collided into their vehicle at gorgas and ardleigh street last night. The driver and the passenger of the suv ran away from that scene. Police did catch up with them a short time later. Investigators are determining whether they were driving under the influence of alcohol or direction at the time. Turning to our weather, pleasant thoughts. Summer is making a come back on this first weekend of fall but how long will this warm weather last . We typically get these warm spells. Dont put away the shorts this weekend. High temperatures above average tomorrow. 84 is our high today, 10 degrees above average and it can still get hot this time of year. 91 is the record temperature for this date set back in 1998. So, no 90s in our forecast. Temperatures stay warm and theres unless humidity, so it will be comfortable. Were in the 60s already so its a cool night. Already up north in allentown 60 degrees. 61 in millville. 55 in quakertown. 58 in pottstown so you can keep those windows opened no, humidity around, very pleasant conditions. Storm scan3 nice and quiet, clear skies, so all the heat we had today is able to escape right back to the atmosphere because we dont have the clouds holding the heater in. Tomorrow morning temperatures upper 50s around the city but in many suburbs theyll be in the low 50s even some 40s in the mountains. So a nice starts to our sunday but we rebound nicely. Going to feel like summer again as far as the temperatures go, 83 for the high in philadelphia, mid 70s at the shore in the sunshine. Look at the mountains. 77 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The search is on for an Armed Robbery suspect caught on nape Moorestown Burlington county. Take a look at these surveillance pictures of the suspect. Police say the masked gunman walked into the 7eleven at lenola road and camden avenue. He threatened the clerk before taking money and cigarettes. If you do recognize this suspect please Contact Police right away. And a shooting in Strawberry Mansion meantime it has Police Searching for a kill canner. The victim was shot four times including once in the head. He was rushed to Temple University hospital just before 1 00 this morning. He later died at the hospital. Now police havent said what may have sparked this shooting. Residents and Community Groups theyre marching this weekend to call for an tend to gun violence here here in philadelphia. The hands across philadelphia event was held in west philly today. Dozens march lead miles along 52nd street from woodland avenue to parkside avenue. Organizers say its important to educate young people ton teach them skills that stops the violence before it starts. Its too much death, way too much death and we need to do something to get people to understand that theres way too much death and we have to do something to get people to stand up against it, stand up against the shooting and the killing. The n double a can cp was among the groups that organized this event. Cyclist they got on the road before sunrise this morning to begin the long trek to the shore. Theyre raising money and awareness for multiple Sclerosis Research and programs. Huge plumes of smoke and ash shot up into the sky and nearby buildings are covered in soot. At least 40 people are injured, seven are missing. Local Authorities Say there were many hikers in that area at the time but the search has become difficult and crews cant use helicopters because of the smoke. This volcanos last eruption was back in 2007. A wildfire in Northern California is nearly 80 percent contained. Firefighters got some help today from cool wet weather. The socalled king fire has burned more than 150 square miles of forest east of sacrament tomorrow. Its destroyed about a dozen homes. The fire has cost the region more than 53 million. And the u. S. Led coalition determined to destroy the isis terror group in iraq and in syria received some much needed new help today. Two british fighter jets flew their First Coalition mission over iraq. 10 airstrikes in syria and iraq damaged isis air fields Training Camps and several armored vehicles. The u. S. Military says the airstrikes are disrupting the isis chain of command. And four College Softball players they are dead after their School Charter bus was hit by a semi truck in oklahoma. This happened near Oklahoma City last night. The 15 players and their coach were heading back to North Central Texas College after an away softball game. Investigators say the semi crossed the median and crashed right into the bus. Good samaritans tried to save the students on board. When i got into the bus, she had a pulse of about two, three minutes and we were trying to use a jack to get the bus up so we could try to get her out. The the National Transportation board is sending a team to investigate the cause of this tragic accident. And a man accused of abducting university of virginia sophomore Hannah Graham is back in the state of virginia now. Hes being held without bond. Police say Jesse Matthew jr. Was last seen with graham on september 13th. Hes due in court on thursday. Grahams whereabouts are still unknown. Search teams continue to canvas the area in virginia looking for clues. And the nations air travel system, it is slowly now recovering after an alleged act of sabotage at an air Traffic Control tower in chicago. At the height of this problem yesterday, more than 2,000 flights in and out of ohare and midway airports were all canceled. Lines were so long at ohare even today where hundreds of flights remain canceled. Authorities say a contract employee start add fire yesterday morning at the air Traffic Control center in suburban aurora, illinois. And its official ladies, George Clooney is off the market now. Chelsea clinton announced the news today on twitter and facebook. Her parents former president bill clinton and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton say they are blessed and very happy to be grant parents. Its going to be another good beach day at the jersey shore and delaware beaches tomorrow, temperatures well into the 70s with lots of sunshine. So, were on that uphill trend over the past few days. You know those temperatures have been cool, especially thursday with clouds and the rain, 64. We made to it 78 yesterday and today 84 degrees for philadelphia. Average high is 74 for this time of year. Well be in the 80s again tomorrow. Monday its going to be close. Upper 70s to around 80 degrees depending on how much sunshine we do see. Beyond that looks like we see a return to more typical late september weather or even early october weather. 64 in trenton, 68 in philadelphia, 60 already in allentown. So, we have the clear skies over our region so again all our heat today is able to move right back to the atmosphere so well cool down nicely tonight. No humidity around, very pleasant. Look whats happening across the east coast, the midatlantic nothing. We have High Pressure right over us so that blocks any storms from developing. That high sits over our region again tomorrow, mostly sunny, temperatures inland well into the 80s, pretty much a repeat of what we had today. Now monday we should see more clouds return. Slightly cooler, upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Then on tuesday well see a front move from the north. There will be a storm that passes off shore. There could be a couple showers tuesday afternoon especially near the coastal areas but a wind off the water will bring our temperatures back where they should be. Now warm days and cool nights is perfect ingredients for good fall color and were starting to see some change especially north of the city, bucks county into Montgomery County up to the Lehigh Valley and poconos. Just some low change and it starts to increase over the next few weeks. No change yet in south jersey and in delaware. Our future weather model shows quiet conditions overnight. Outdoor plans tomorrow look like a go. Another good beach day for heading down to the shore. More clouds start to move in on monday, well keep it dry, just high thin clouds. Start to lower and thicken later on monday night. Tuesday partial sunshine, more clouds especially near the coast. There could be a few showers around. This model not picking up a whole lot of rain but the threat will be there for scattered showers especially tuesday afternoon. Highs tomorrow well into the 80s for the inland spots. Even the poconos approaching that 80degree mark. Cooler near the water. And then on monday because of the clouds it will be slightly cooler but still above average upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Very comfortable overnight. Clear skies, pleasant, 59 for center city. Low 50s in many suburbs. 40s in the mountains. Another very warm day on sunday. Lots of sunshine, 83 for the afternoon High Temperature and here we go, the extended forecast, warmth continues into monday upper 70s to around 80 degrees with sunshine and clouds. More clouds move in on tuesday and wednesday. Both days there could be a few rain showers. A breeze off the water brings the temperatures back employee average, low seventies by the end of the week. On saturday we could see more showers. So, a couple can of summer like days as far as temperatures go. Humidity is not here so it is comfortable. Thats all that matters.
