57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. Good to be with you. Im annemarie green. Well, this morning, we are learning more about the deadly bombings in brussels and the terrorists who carried them out. The suspected bomb maker is dead and another suspect is on the run. The attacks at the airport and at a metro station killed at least 32 people and injured about 300 others. More than 60 of the injured remain in intevensive care. It appears that the ones who carried out the attacks in paris carried out the brussels attack. Indications indicate the bombers moved up their attack because it was close authorities were closing in. A third man seen with the two airport suicide bombers, Kenneth Craig is in brussels with more. Reporter this morning, we are also learning that a second attacker may also be on the run. That is according to belgian and french media who are reporting that he was seen on cctv cameras at the subway station carrying a large wbag. Authorities are trying to track him down in addition to the man in the surveillance video. As the hunt for the man in the white jacket continues, belgian prosecutors are morning about the isis terrorists connected to two terror attacks in brussels. Authorities believe these two blew themselves up at the airport and ibrahims younger brother detonated himself on the subway. Tuesdays attack here in brussels and the events in paris are renewing concerns about fighting isis in europe. Its much easier to get into europe than to get into the united states, for example, because of geography. No european muslims are not radicalized. The vast majority are not but they have a higher radicalization rate. Reporter speaking from argentina, president obama urged people to come together in the terror fight. We can and we will who threaten the security and safety of not only our people but people around the world. Reporter according to the associated press, isis has trained 400 fighters to carry out waves of terror in europe to conflict maximum carnage. In the searches they found more than 30 pounds of extremely highly explosive bomb making materiel at an apartment. That type of materiel is popular among extremists because its so easy to make with household materials. Kenneth craig in brussels, thanks a lot, kenneth. Coming up on cbs this morning, we will look at the technology being developed to detect homemade bombs like the ones used in brussels. We are joining now but elaine cobb in brussels with more on the investigation. Elaine, good morning. We certainly learned a lot more about these terrorist attacks over the last 24 hours. How were authorities able to piece together this investigation . Reporter good morning, annemarie. When belgian police, looking for abdeslam linked to the pair race attacks, raided an apartment in brussels last week, they found it was, in fact, rented by a man who was one of the two brothers who were the suicide bombers in the brussels attack. He blew himself at the subway station. They also then found a taxi driver who said he was pulled out by three men to take them to the airport. They were acting suspicious about their luggage. They didnt want him to touch it, so he called police after the attack and they then carried out that raid on the apartment where they found the kind of explosives that were also used in the paris attack. So they very much have been putting those two attacks together as links. We are also learning a lot more about one of the bombers. We know that he was already known to authorities. But we have also learned that he was deport from turkey. Can you tell us more about that . Reporter yes. Ibrahim bakraoui, his brother blew himself up at the airport, was known to police as a violent criminal but he hadnt been linked to terrorism in any way, neither had his brother, but turkey says that he was deported from there last year. The president of turkey said that they told belgian authorities that they didnt seem particularly concerned, so, in fact, he was deported to the netherlands which he had requested. Now that is something the belgian authorities are saying that we had no reason to suspect anything at the time. But they did know that he had gone to syria in 2013 to join jihadists there. Lets talk more about the big picture. A. P. Is reporting that isis has trained 400 fighters to target europe. That certainly has to complicate things. Reporter yes, but this isnt really new. France is known for some time there are huge numbers of homegrown terrorists who go to syria and are being sent back. When abaaoud was back in paris to master mind the attacks last november, a woman said he told her he came in not with the other bombers for those attacks, but with 90 others ready to swarm a network that he could call on at any time in france and presumably in belgian since its appeared the two were linked. That is some disturbing news. Elaine cobb in brussels, thanks a lot, elaine. At least a dozen americans were hurt in tuesdays attacks. The u. S.
