The pilot was killed. Earlier today, an air force thunderbird, f16, crashed after a flyby at the air force Academy Graduation where the president was speaking. The pilot ejected safely. A secret Service Helicopter picked him up and he got a handshake from the commander in chief. Today, the autopsy report for prince revealed that he died of an opioid overdose. Prince was found dead six weeks ago in his home outside minneapolis, and jamie yuccas is there. Reporter the medical examiners report says for instance died from fentanyl toxicity, that it was selfadministered and his death of an accident. Fentanyl san opioid pain medication, usually prescribed for chronic pain for patients who have grown tolerant to other pain medications. Doctors say its 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin. The last three weeks of the singers life were evidence of an addiction spiraling downhill. On the day prince canceled an atlanta concert for Health Reasons here, spent the day with minnesota doctor Michael Todd Schulenberg undergoing tests. A week later, after a makeup performance, princes plane made an emergency landing. He had to be treated at a hospital. The next morning he was found unconscious in an elevator in his paisley park home, by kornfelds son, andrew. Kornfeld was carrying a supply of opioid Addiction Treatment pills. The kornfelds Attorney William Mauzy explained the role last month. Andrews purpose in being there was to describe the recovery without walls program, to familiarize prince with that. Prince could go there for Pain Management and any addiction issues. Reporter since princes death, investigators, including the Drug Enforcement agency, have focused on the singers use of the pain killers and how he got them. Now that we know how prince died, authorities will have to determine if criminal charges should be filed. And, scott, princes estate still needs to be sorted out. In our investigations, weve seen lines like this at doctors offices which police say are nothing more than fronts for drug dealing. West virginia is suing opioid distributors to force them to report unusual sales. The man in charge of those suits is the attorney general, but his critics question just how close he has been to the drug makers. Jim axelrod and producer ashley velie continue their investigation. Whats happening in West Virginia right now is that were losing a generation of people to despair. Reporter in the last five months, morsi has implemented new statewide prescription dwooid lines. Hes might have had forward with a lawsuit he inherited from his predecessor against 11 major drug distributors and filed a new suit against the nations top drug wholesaler, mccesen, for flooding the state with 100 million pain kills pills in a fiveyear period. But the fight against opioids in West Virginia is complex as one look at morrisseys career path makes plain. If my past practice, i was the cochair of a Large Health Care pharmaceutical practice. But i had worked on capitol hill before, so i had done a lot of compliance work, regulatory work. Reporter from 2010 to 2012, were you lobbying on behalf of high, companies, pharmaceutical distributors . Well, i was a private lawyer, and we did do some lobbying work. Reporter as a lobbyist, morrissey was paid 250,000 to represent a pharmaceutical trade group funded by some of the same distributors West Virginia is now suing. Records show he also took more than 8,000 in political contributions from Cardinal Health, a defendant in one of the states lawsuits. The West Virginia bar was concerned enough about a potential conflict to launch an investigation. When he first took office in january of 2013, morrissey said he would step away from cases involving cardinal, but five months later, he met with senior representatives from the company. Is it appropriate for you to be meeting with two executives and a lawyer for Cardinal Health care when the state is suing them . Well, as you know, the state meets with entities involved in cases all the time. And i would argue, we should meet with everyone involved across the board to go solve this problem. Reporter two months later, morrissey again clarified his position, saying he was now permanently screened from the case. But that didnt end the questions. Morrisseys wife is a lobbyist. One of her biggest clients . Cardinal health. While youve been in office, your wifes firm has made roughly a million and a half bucks from cardinal. Youd have to talk and take a lookav those numbers. I dont pay attention. Reporter so how does not present an enormous appearance of a conflict, if not an actual conflict . Well, i think weve gone through this, the process and people have determined there was no conflict. He went there to kill two faculty from u. C. L. A. He was only able to locate one. The second faculty member was off campus. Reporter sarkar was living in st. Paul, minnesota, and here at his Apartment Police found what they are calling a kill list. Had three names on it, including ashley haisti, who was found dead today in a home in a twin cities suburb. She and sarkar married five years ago but it is not clear if they were still married. Also on the list was professor klug, and another unidentified u. C. L. A. Professor who was not harmed. Active shooter appears theres a student. Reporter police say sarkar came to campus, armed with two. 9 millimeter handguns. He had multiple magazines of ammunition and multiple loose roindz of ammunition. He was certainly prepared to engage multiple victims. Reporter sarkar, an indian american, graduated from u. C. L. A. Three years ago with a ph. D. In mechanical engineering. He harbored a grudge against professor klug whom he accused of stealing his computer code. Back in march on social media, sarkar called the professor a very sick person, and told other students, your enemy is your enemy. Klug was a popular engineering professor and a father of two young children. Now, when police found the shooter here at the engineering building, there was a note on his body.
