The airbus with over 300 on board left indonesia this weekend heading for singapore and vanished when the pilot changed course due to weather. Allen pizzey . Reporter good evening norah. The u. S. Is being asked for help in the search and the navy said its in discussions to send ships and submersibles to comb the waters. Relatives huddled together for comfort to check the list of missing. Days after the aircraft went missing in the java sea hope is all they had. One woman wandered around stunned, holding a photograph of a family of 5 all on board. Weather can be a serious factor, but it is never the single cause of what ultimately created the accident. Accidents are always a chain of events. Reporter in addition to weather. Investigators will look at air speed, was the plane going too slow mechanical failure, and how the pilot may have reacted to an emergency on board. The airlines said the captain had more than 6,000 hours flying the airbus and the copilot had 2200 hours of flying experience with the airline and air asia itself has a good safety record. The search for air asia 8501 comes nine months after plagues flight 370 dropped off radar with 239 people on board. Investigators believe that plane was deliberately turned off course and ended up in the vast and deep southern indian ocean off the coast of australia. The search so far for the air asia flight has been focused on areas around the java sea where the waters arent as deep around 150 feet. Aviation sources say the plane was equipped with a flight Data Tracking system known as acars. It can feed diagnostic information to the ground in time. Counting 8501, there have been 20 fatal airliner accidents this year, the fewest since records were country in 1942. Tonight passengers rescued from a burning ferry off the coast of albania are describing a deer fying wait for help. Many pelted with rain as flames poured out from below deck.
