The Obama Administration wants to help states fight opioid abuse. The Administration Says it will distrubute 53 Million Dollars to 44 states to fight the crisis. The funding will focus on reducing the over prescription of pain killers, increasing access to treatment and making sure the antidote is widely available. The administration is also calling on congress to billion dollars in new money to treat the epidemic. The abuse of opioids in the United States is rising at an alarming rate. To put that into perspective the United States represents almost 100 of all hydrocodone prescriptions and 81 of oxycodone prescriptions written worldwide.
