Theyre also the squad that responded to some of the recent shootings including the one at the peppermill last week. They tell me when Violent Crime happens near the strip, it could be especially tragic since its such a highly traveled area. I asked them how shootings continue to happen on las vegas boulevbard despite the fact that with the many surveillance cameras, it is one of the most watched streets in the world. They tell me their squad is doing what they can, but sometimes they need more. Going after drugs, guns, fighting crimes, this is what were coming up with. So we are out here making arrests, we are getting things done, but sometimes its at a rate where its hard for us to keep up with officer Calvin Wandick tells me the new more cops tax will hopefully help them get more officers, although he does not know exactely how many will go to the strip. A manhunt was underway for the man who shot a detective while on duty. Today police say that suspect was arrested.
