A sixhour standoff started after police say a man beat his girlfriend. Then stabbed his friend. It happened around 430 this morning near desert inn and rainbow. Police say the victims had non life threatening injuries. When officers got to the scene the man refused to leave the home. And police say he had a high powered assault weapon. Swat officers were called out. And several neighbors were evacuated. Officers worked until ten am to negotiate with the suspect. He eventually surrendered. Police have not provided the suspects name. Three children were taken away from a home after a baby died there. Police say the baby was found unresponsive in an apartment around two this morning near charleston and lamb. Metro told us earlier today this death was not suspicious. But now, three children under the age of seven are in the care of child protective services.
