On 1030 the boys than sex. Ok. We're doing right. Here and it is. Yet not only did we win today it's over some of the peer pressure which there was too much at this that you still. I have so that's the here the president talking about obviously the end Pietschmann inquiry and what Gordon saw in London had to say which there was kind of a little bit of no yes there is quid pro quo and then taking that back when there was more of a reveal during the what I call the question and answer period between whoever it is that's testifying and those that are going after them that's the way it is and it's either the Republican side or the Democratic side and Trump is right about that our president so hey everybody Kate Delaney as we kick the show off politics politics that is the buzz in the land people are talking about still what's going to happen at the end of this whole thing I was asked today every day I'm asked this what do you think is going to be impeachment and if I'm looking in a crystal ball do I think the president's going to be rid I'm going to say no who I don't think that at all and that's what he's saying based on the fact that you look at the Sam Bassett or Gordon Sunland who donated heavily to the Trump campaign by the way and of course serves at the pleasure of the president because the presidents appoint the ambassadors and now with what's happening with the Ukraine this is his territory and the questions become what happened before the call what happened after the call and one of the things he did. Say though that was damning is he said everybody was in the loop everybody knew it was happening that all of the president's senior aides including the acting chief of staff Mike Mulvaney secretary of state Mike Pompei and energy secretary Rick Perry all of us all of them knew that Selenski was briefed days ahead of the 20 of July 25th called to commit to doing investigations that that was going to be discussed but specifically he said Rudy Giuliani was the guy being told was handling everything go to Rudy follow through through the everything was in that direction he did also say that he told the vice president Mike Pence before his September 1st meeting with Selenski that he had concerns that delay in aid had become tied to the issue of the investigations songlines said that pends nodded in response but he doesn't remember if he gave any further reaction or not Republicans jumped all over this they honed in on Sun Lynn saying he didn't know for sure that the security aide was conditioned on announcing investigations as opposed to the quid pro quo he lit He said linked the investigations to a White House meeting and that the president didn't directly tell him there was a connection between the money the aid the 400000000 and the meeting and the investigation so there you go we're back down to reading the same chapters just addressing it in different ways if you're really and it really has the feel of that there is a deadline to this of Russia Russia Russia. Because boy did we not talk about that for a long time and what happened at the end of those Russian investigations certainly not what the Democrats thought was going to happen while all of that was going on in Washington d.c. That there was time for a quick dinner and the for fans of politics and can't get enough it was about watching what the Democrats did in the Wednesday debate out of Atlanta with by the way and all female. Our journalist crew doing the facilitation if you will so 10 candidates for president on the stage in the 5th debate weren't the fit to bathe for the Democratic. Primary and it was hosted at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta which are huge these brand new studios that that he's expanded down there and flip a coin as to who came out the best when you look at who's leading in the polls Elizabeth Warren still registers high but all of a sudden Pete booted judge the mayor of South Bend Indiana has had a surge and support in early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire so he's leaving v.p. Joe Biden Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren the 2 senators 2 in a recent poll in South Carolina showed him pegging at less than one percent support though among black voters which of course is a key voter bloc in the primary and a group Democrats will definitely need in the general election if you look at the tea leaves and what always has happened in the past to me the thing about voting is this and I say it all the time in the 15 years that I've been doing this show it's disappointing that more people don't go out and vote I say your right to bitch should be connected to your right to vote you want to complain you hate politics you hate the way it's going and it's easy to adopt that attitude because yeah we're sick of it we're sick of the corruption the denials the nonsense the delays the investigations that go on ad nauseum and then you see what the bill is for that and then what was delayed as a result of it we have serious issues in this country that affect every single one of us. You your families your future your taxes what's happening in your communities it's such a big deal to vote is more people voted they perhaps wouldn't be as disappointed with the results and why is that because your voice would be heard and if more people felt the same way more people were active I think there would be there would be a different way that some of our politicians number one handled themselves and the accountability factor I think would really really ratchet up so in other words who are you serving who are the constituents remember it's we the people and when you've got less than half the nation voting to me that's a problem because everybody fighting for the scraps and that's what ends up that's what ends up happening in the meantime Dohring this display of all the Democrats and it was long I think they now they're like 2 hours something like that there was that Joe Biden moment the Joe Biden moment was this. He was asked that he was asked about domestic violence and his response was no man has a right to raise a hand to a woman in anger other than in self defense and that rarely ever occurs bill so he could have stopped that but he threw this and he said so we have to just change the culture period and keep punching at it punching it and punching at it and you could see the grins and then there were some giggles in the audience because of what he said of. Women and violence and hitting a woman and then coming back with with with the whole punching thing there's always going to be a Biden ism somewhere in the mix and there were definitely a couple of those as the group whittles down who ends up being the nominee really it's tough to say because you're starting to see a few different things switch and it's not so much Joe Biden where so many thought Biden was the guy because he was recognizable but maybe not. Who will the president face who will he square off with. Now let's talk about the mail we talk about the mail please not only died about but the mail for you all day Ok. I know how you feel when you get that bushy amount. Yeah and that Biden isms flow like that's all of us suddenly have that problem the foot in mouth disease Charles Barkley had that problem in a couple of you actually sent me some e-mails about it including this one from Jimmy who said Delay did you catch what part Glee did I love that. He called me to play he said Barkley had this apology is really wild for his joke about domestic violence and then they kind of just moved on after that the. I think he didn't mean to say he seems like a gentle giant to to me well for people who don't know because you didn't set that up for us Jim is his exchange with Alex McCammon who's a reporter for x.t.s. Is what that's at the heart of and of course once that exchange was out there because he was he made a joke. He What happened was he you know he he she called him out on what she said was telling her she couldn't take a joke as it was saying as if it was her fault because you've attended by his casual Mistah journey like that but she she said and soon as that happened the statistics were flying around about. Domestic violence and all that kind of stuff. And what he said was I don't hit women but if I did I would hit you so once he said that hoof that's like a oh I can't take that back moment and then then you know everything exploded and that's when they went not to the phones went not to turn sports and then he came out with the you know apology and and and that was that and. It. I don't know if you had a great defense for it if you're asking me to comment on that did he mean that it's one of those slips I mean you know coming up in a couple of weeks we're going to have on the show and fact the other day you heard of the silent thought I'm going to let people hear that again Charlie Wers I had a great conversation with him about where people are stepping with this whole political correctness and then what is offensive and you're not even realizing it's offensive and then what is the immediate blowback to that and that was definitely one of those moments for for for Barkley are let's go into this one this one is from Channing and Jennings says Kate you know what I am sick of the Democrats and I'm not a huge fan of the Donald's I voted for him I thought I was going to really like the Donald but I think he needs to get off Twitter I'm just sick of hearing Beth say on Twitter it's almost on the verge and maybe it is of bullying but I don't know what I'll do because I'm a lifelong Republican like I say I voted for him there's things that I liked about him but I'm not like in the guy that I'm seeing now and I certainly don't really care for many of the Democrats I hope I don't have to move and. I think you're joking on the whole can of a thing remember all the celebrities is that they're going to move to Canada so and so wins I'm moving to Canada moving to Canada I think Alec Baldwin has said he's moved to Canada Bush got elected that didn't happen he he met somebody and had proceeded to have a 2nd family I think he's got like 4 kids but anyway he didn't go north of the border and there were a few other there a few other celebs that said that they would move to Canada as as well yeah I mean I see this all the time in the show look left of left right of right somewhere in between throw out the labels don't have a label like a Republican like a Democrat like a moderate. Version of either party member there is the push for other parties I would like to be able to come back in 50 years and see what the government looks like I would I would like to see the groundwork that's being laid or trampled on right now what what would it look like what will it if it continues down the way the path it is now what would it look like. I mean tear it up the constitution intact what are things that go now that would be an interesting conversation to have get a couple of scholars get a couple of other people in fact it will take some planning but that would be an interesting That would be an interesting show to really try to forecast a little bit and if we go in this direction what does it look like and if we go in another direction what does it look like I'm all for more of the voice of the people that's the bottom line the more voices that are heard obviously it's insanity to think that you can have complete delegation but I'm saying the more input the more town halls the more participation I think the more you participate the better armed you are with the facts the better you know the people and the more you want to go out and vote frankly right I know that it was drummed in my head when I was a kid when you came to the table you had to be able to talk about current events and when you were 18 you were going to soon as you had that 1st opportunity you were absolutely going to or you move from from that to this one from Gregory Kate I haven't emailed you know a long time but rest assured I am listening to the show sometimes you make me just laugh out loud and other times I wish I was sitting next to you and we could actually debate it and person I think you should get an r.v. And you should you should go and tour the nation you know what if I get as big if I got big enough if we had enough muscle behind us that would be a fun thing to do it would be a really fun thing to go to an r.v. And and you see me or heard me do shows from different places that would be cool and he goes on and says My my question is how brutal is this storm they're predicting going to be for travel I'm taking my family from the south to the east I'm kind of concerned about the potential for some nasty weather that could stop us in Archie. Rocks we why I don't know where in the South but you know you've got 4400000 Americans flying for Thanksgiving and depending on you fly Tuesday into Wednesday they're talking about heavy snow and winter like travel conditions so then you're going to have delays in a lot of different areas Michigan nasty Wisconsin sind Minnesota Colorado and people are are getting on roads then that's even a whole different thing too if there are blues or conditions that's what they're saying for the upper Midwest that the form would strengthen on Tuesday and Wednesday that would be good because heavy snow winds were earlier you're talking about 35 to 40 mile an hour probably visibility would be good and they're talking about Chicago could be in the middle of the worst of the storm's winter side or they might avoid it because it depends on the air when it gets closer to it but the travel is going to be tricky if you're in Minneapolis Chicago Kansas City Denver and depending on what where you're going and when you're leaving and how you're getting there you've got to of course you're going to pay attention you've got to really pay attention to what the weather system is like that may affect that travel for Thanksgiving. The worst to get a pack your patience plus if you're dealing with delays I mean especially serious long delays hopefully we don't see that right then there's the fun one this one is from Derek Kate I thought of you on my wife made me watch the news you want to know why why because there was a story about a turkey stalking a mail carrier I think it was from someplace North did you see it you know it normally I would have no clue what you're talking about because it's so Randall I saw it because I watched I didn't watch the news I think it was a.b.c. And it's it was it is in Wisconsin somewhere and I think it's been on all over now I'm sure it's viral or whatever and there's this Turkey where every day the mailman goes to toll the phone boxes and the Turkey follows them and goes up to the mail all you know of to the mailbox and all of that and now people it's become known and that's probably how they ended up getting this thing video on it and they're saying that the turkey should get a pardon because here we are thanksgiving and who's going to catch and kill that Turkey. Maybe that's the that's the idea of the turkey smart you know why I have to stick to these humans make them really like me and adopt them so that I don't end up on somebody's table I'm just saying and it is very cute whatever search engine you have you can just do I'm sure Turkey and mail mail truck and it probably pops right up in the video the video is is clever it is very very funny I would say that right and then here's this last one and we go across the pond for this and this one is from Alford I don't know that Alford's across the pond that I listen to you in other parts of the world. I am stunned by. Andrew what a dunce for hanging out with that Geoffrey Epstein I heard talk about it the other day more than a dunce Yes Prince Andrew the Queen's 2nd son announced on Wednesday he's stepping away from his royal duties for the forseeable future he gets paid for that but because of that friendship with a convicted sex offender Geoffrey Epstein who is no longer of this world that was just. You write this book and it was probably I'm guessing something that was kind of rattling around in your head how long did it take you to put those thoughts on paper so that the Ok let me give you the various background behind the book. When I was about 6. In this. I landed a job as a junior reporting there were no longer than you might. Be in big new this very dynamic Ne Ne. And my parents and. And now they're got a vicious life 'd in energy and she actually was a designer and seamstress on Sat with Avenue in New York at one point in her life and during that meeting we hit it off really well because she celebrates her days the same day as I did January 28th so last track we did some very good friends. And in becoming good friends I was a businessman periodic lead to her story and now she's 100 years old and so I imagine several years ago she was 85 the things around at the time she said to me you know I want to say that and I love this and I said if you are you know I seriously already down and. Got it to ride and it's not nice to have a publicist but at the time I didn't have the funds to publish it and neither did she and I thought she was approaching too long 100 years or and I said you know what last year 2008 I made a commitment and we still that I would honor her for 100 rupees to get this book so I was hooked by the throat I got a call from the publishing pile which is lit fire I didn't know them and they said they saw my name as you know because I've written several books before and I swore off that one called success from the heart and they called me out and said they would like to publish my next book and I said a lot to see and while there it is. Well that rumor that is such a great background story 100 years old and I'm curious what one of blessing to to live that long to have and for you to meet her and have that relationship too so tell us about the book give us give us kind of a cliff notes of the book. So we know that this war is. At an all time high here and in this well the world so common that promulgating achieve want to pose for a life through the love story from when he left from think Martin moved to tears with another island and she made the love of her life and I let me just highlight. One of the chapters and it says Have you ever been in love I mean truly deeply in love with someone that you would not met and living a life that is. So in love to the point that in the extreme lately we think we're dreaming wrongly that this person is and seems yes was well liked in life and the end of my world a lot of them. Were here with WRAL Well then parents and on the news and these. All of these are there for our love stories and even absence from this. With me on my journey of love with racialist with 3 of my one with me as a systems. With. Which he goes into her story and it's very dramatic because. It is. If he and her husband were not Christians and from his of fighting for their lot then most likely would not have ended up in the. Why why don't we learn from Carmen about love what was the biggest takeaway and you know or what what is the biggest takeaway for you in writing this and going on that love Journey and then just think it's not some people decide that the we are in the fridge and that we've got less of the challenges of the circumstances that in between you know life happens that they are persistent. And they care about each other that's who the victim was in the movie didn't and just today my husband and I were having a discussion and really just reflecting what many couples that we had know who were married and we thought we have to marry and we found out that it is work and it's it's as if we're in a society where you know every era respect what that being of that air is and our our parents would have lasted longer in marriage because then you know you you you made things worse. But we live now in like a Michael Lisa's life where everything has to be quick and persons have a tendency not to want to walk out their relationships through struggles because they are through with relationships and they're designed to grab hold of the best in both parties when people don't realize that and want quick fixes and I'm not willing to to make it count then that that's what we get in the society where so many marriages are failing and as a result the children are impacted and children say a very nice rule in my life in terms of helping to see the next and we've been through. Part of my passion Also with this apart from honoring this seems it's the health system the rich and the middle that none of can be so very unlucky in that they're willing to work through the process 70 that's. Wow what a beautiful sentiment no question about it so it takes that tenacity to hang in there and you know what that that's like an obviously she knew what that was like What was the most What did she tell you the most beautiful thing was about trying to stay in love and being in a relationship for that long why not tell me with this the story is that. We did not know her. But she knew that. I could see that he loved me but I loved him before he ever saw. In the follicle while no kidding he then said she saw him before he saw her and when she saw him and he was her 1st love when he saw him in her heart he knew that this was the man for her. So excited to talk of Ronald hair I know I say that a lot but I really mean it because he's like taking me back to places of when I was a kid and even as an adult and thinking about some of the stories and how we interpret them you know some of the difficult stories but in particular where he focuses on you focuses on the destruction of Jerusalem in his book The brother brothers forever or rather the 3rd book in The Brothers series and you know you think in your mind when we remember about that and it's so moved vivid his descriptions that I can't wait to interview she turns around and thank you so much for joining us you're welcome and in the book you know you really are and we talked about this off air you were really very accurate I said I gave the overall picture of the destruction of Jerusalem you're very accurate about the historical details and then the characters you created so in creating the characters What was that like in mixing it with all the research that you did. Well you know if there are people even mentioned in the Bible that they never tell you their name. That's for instance we don't know and so I use that to kind of fill in some places where did they get the pots that they put the Dead Sea Scrolls and well one of my characters is Simeon who's a potter and he runs into the scene and stays there with them for a while and he makes the pots were there scrolls when they hide them in the caves where they were discovered so you know I still am some of the missing links. In things and it's fun you know you can do that without violating the Bible in any sense and the Christians in the Jews of course who are kind of the lonely people from the Romans point and the Christians were even lower than the choose in the christians or in the Romans. Outlook and the places in the events in the characters are of course fictional and I tried to make that through the book both entertaining and educational and same time people don't particularly want to read a documentary so I tried to put as much bencher and excitement in the book as I could. Yeah you know what I think that's what really stands out and that's hard I was saying in the beginning because stories to tell and sell and so you tell us the stories of those characters like I said really really make it come to life and you mentioned that it was fun doing this of everything that you encountered in putting it together do you have a favorite story you talked about the Dead Sea Scrolls that you have a favorite story. Yeah I really do you know when when the Romans come in to. Jerusalem and they finally break through you know they light things they put things on fire and everything and people are dying left and right because the Romans you know they don't know its fighters and it's not the zealots just like the people much like you know were overseas. When you're in Iraq and Iran you know that the Iraqi. Economy if there was one there was to look just like normal people you couldn't tell them apart and that was the way it was with the Romans when they went in there that they go through all this and they destroy everything and and they're just going to stand in the round you know they've done it you know and here's this and here's this lady skinny as a bone because they prevented them from getting any Fujian skins alone sitting in the cone covered with soot and she. Kissed my wife goodbye had. She's sitting on the corner and she is. Alive and on the Roman centurion look setter. One has let it go you know let it go. Even in the midst of the battle sometimes there's a there's a sense of humanity in the card of all of this. You know we have a little empathy for others. I love that story and as I said this is what really pops out is the characters and how you make you breathe this life into it and you said it was fun writing it what do you hope people take away they're listening to us right now that by the way you can pick up the book of course on Amazon Brothers Forever the 3rd book in The Brothers series Ronald Herrera the author if you look that up it's very easy to find that we hope people take away from reading your book. Well I want to know that even though things are bad now and people have to struggle it has been worse in the past and is now a lot worse and yet humanity survives those things. Exactly and and survive and go on and it's interesting because that was a point in time where and you talk about this in your book that you know you had violence zealots and you had disease then you know the good times when we try to picture that in our mind. And you think of the temple and you think of the destruction except for. It takes us back in in history and biblically it takes us back there and I think like I said in bringing this to life is the idea that people also can embrace this and really understand the story because I think the characters are so rich and that's what makes the difference instead of just a lot historical document Yes and the and because it's a series it begins with the destruction of the the children in Bethlehem. And then it covers the 70 years following that. So you follow these 2 brothers carry their whole lifetime if you read the whole series and you get to know God and you know what they've been through you know they've lost children they have had struggles with. Different things you know that they've had to come to Christ for instance like one of them came to Christ to the curing of his leprosy. The other one the other one. Was looking for a military leader and an e-mail didn't believe right away you know because he never said anything about the Roman See you read the Bible he never says much about the Romans at all and and he was pretty disappointed. Which is typical of people today a lot of times some people are quick to believe others only preach so and so I am because I have 2 protagonists in it I can represent both of those the quick believers the ones who say oh wow you know he cured me of leprosy Oh Mona's I'm on his side all way and then the other one who says well he's not really what I want you know and so it. Makes fun it makes it makes for a fun time and fun reading because if you're a nonbeliever you read it he'll relate to you know if you're a believer you know relate to Simeon and then you know it's interesting I was going to say that because you're right and telling us that of course that since then is around him not considered in and they How were they how did they feel in this book that they couldn't save you know they watched the destruction of Jerusalem and they couldn't do anything about it. For me not simply the. Big it was one of those things well we did our best you know it's like that it's like cold lost last week. And Heaven and I and you know it's like well you know we did you you try you know next to nothing and so. When when you don't need it it's just it's just another tool or it really is just another chapter in your life and you know when someone tells you it'll it'll be Ok In the end you know it's not Ok Right now you're just not at the end and that's all I love it because if people when people read this they get the human lessons and I love that you took a knock and then me and from 2 different points of view of the believer and the and the non believer where does how long do you take the theory I mean you could take the theory forever I guess from Up until they're down. Well and I do that's how I look that's a that's the last book in the noggin Simeon is Brothers Forever but the. The thing is that I have young characters of Simeon and his wife pick up a a waste in the they raise it in his name is Jacob and so I can write and I'm writing a 4th book about Jacob what happens to him because he's given up everything he only used to save money on quite a bit everything he owned to save Jerusalem and failed was so he goes back he's going to go back to Rome with nothing on and we'll see how it will see how that goes while again the book is Brothers Forever the series Brothers Forever the 3rd book in The Brothers series Ron hare a boy a boy just so well done a historical fiction through the eyes of these brothers and it really walks you through history it really does thanks so much for joining us on the show thanks for having me.
