To the hospital monday night. The fall happened shortly after the game. Its not clear how that person fell. The Denver Police department is looking into what happened. Theres a lot happening on i70 in georgetown now. Crews are working to clean up the highway and round up cattle after a cattle truck rolled over on eastbound i70 this morning. This is a look at the crash and the backups that happened earlier had morning. The Colorado Department of transportation first reported you can see there was extensive delay along i70 in georgetown. Drivers are still encouraged to be mindful of this and be ready to take an alternate if needed. At one point they were wandering. You could see and hear them. Matt renoux is live in georgetown. You could probably smell them too . Thats right. You can still smell them and see them. Georgetown. The not so open range here. Now being loaded up and getting back to where they need to go. They are starting to get things back to normal after a cattle truck crashed, some got out right after the crash, others were just now let out. The cattle truck rolled in the eastbound lanes of i70 coming down georgetown hill. It lost its brakes, couldnt make the turn, several cows started roaming around so services, cdot and animal patrol keeping them from getting on to i70 and causing even more problems. It didnt involve other vehicles. That is Pretty Amazing there. The driver is ok. Shook up. You saw how shook up the cows were. They were not happy. Reporter there you see the cows right now trying to get into that trailer. Need to do. They are being herded, whatever they have to do, they have a cdot truck, Animal Service truck, just trying to push them in. There are still a few more cows, pan up the hillside, they still need to be loaded in the truck. They will do them in different sections because its not a very big truck compared to the 80 that were in the semi. The semi up the hill has been righted up and it will be towed out. Traffic on i70 returning to normal and at the same time you can see the cattle are starting to get where they need to go. 80 in all, six of them didnt survive the crash. But the rest of them did. Which was pretty remarkable considering that semi truck was going pretty fast and all the cars are on i70. For an escaped inmate had a new problem. Now they are dealing with a man who has barricaded himself in his home. Brighton Police Say Officers have been negotiating with the man since about 5 20 this morning. The incident prompted a lockdown in the 100 block of south 10th avenue. Residents are asked to stay where they are. If you live around here stay inside. Several schools in the area have been placed on lockout this morning. They academy, vicon middle school and brighton high school. Police were originally looking for the escaped inmate when another man called authorities. Saying police are looking for somebody, hes not here, if police dont leave something bad is going to happen. Police say they are certain that the man who is barricaded is not the inmate they were originally looking for, but this. The weather now. Belen deleon has more. Today our temperatures are about 11 degrees cooler than just 24 hours ago. So that is different. Another thing, cooler air wrought us higher humidity so that is helping with fire danger across colorado. Its not as high as what it over the weekend. Thankfully. We have rain and we have a little snow in higher elevations. Heres a look at the wet roads along Wolf Creek Pass and those light showers are currently falling around areas in the roaring fork valley. They have let up closer to the foothills. Looks like northeastern colorado is seeing a little bit of rain as well. With some of those darker clouds but these clouds are going to be bark, not a lot of bite. Any rain we see is going to be on the light side, maybe up to that is the rainfall amount through the next 24 hours. Even yesterday we were in the upper 70s. But today were going to do temperatures in the low 70s. Still above normal for this time of year. We have a very weak disturbance and its helped trigger a few showers, mixed in with a little snow in the high country. The temperatures will remain a little cooler through tomorrow and then were really going to warm up. By the end of the week the temperatures could be close to record highs. Our normal high for this time the only day we were even close to that was last thursday, weve been well above that the last several days. And right now were at 64 degrees at dia. Here in the backyard our temperatures also at 64 degrees. The temperatures across the state look like this, 40s and 50s in the mountains, 60s in northern colorado. Its really toasty to the south and southeast where we currently have the temperature in the 80s. So that is going to be the warmest spot across the state. 70 for areas in the lower elevations, arnd to the 50s. Looks like more clouds will be there. On saturday and sunday clouds increase, so do the winds and temperatures will be in the 70s. Reporter when the military needed more troops to help afghanistan the California National guard started handing out bonuses, a 15,000 one or more. My first deployment. Reporter robert deandrea served two tours of combat duty in iraq and now asked to return his 20,000 bonus. Or im in violation of federal law. Reporter what did you think when you first got that letter saying you owed money . Anger, we didnt do anything wrong. We stepped forward, volunteered and did our duty and now were getting slapped in the face for it. She was signed by a military recruiter. In some cases some of them knew they were not really eligible for enlistment bonuses but signed them up anyway. In 2011 a socalled incentive manager for the california guard pleaded guilty to filing false claims totally 15 million. Three other officers also pleaded guilty to fraud. Group of Critical Skills to almost everybody that was joining was eligible. So in a lot of instances soldiers would get paychecks or far and above greater than their normal pay. Reporter rather than forgiving them, which were in some cases improperly handed out, the guard assigned auditors to track down the money. Saying in a statement the California National guard doesnt have the authorities toune debts. Since the Los Angeles Times first reported the story elected officials on both sides of the aisle criticized the pentagon and are now calling for change. Its disgraceful we would ever treat those men and women who came to the call of this country after 9 11 to put them in this situation. Reporter a pentagon spokesperson tells us that the Senior Leadership of the department is looking very closely at this matter and say that the National Guard units in other states may have the same issue. Students told to leave clown costumes at home especially the creepy ones. Because people dressed up as creepy clowns scaring people or even committing crimes. Some cases across the country involve threats against schools by clowns. Dps has not received one of those threats but the School District is still notifying parents all clown costumes are banned at all Denver Public schools. While dps has always had bans on things like toy weapons at schools this may be the first history of Denver Public schools have we banned a costume before. This is the first time that nationwide its been quite the frenzy, the clown costumes so. We hope that, since its so new people are paying attention to it and will follow our guidelines. If a student shows up in a clown costume at dps its up to the School Principals to died what to do with those students to decide what to do with e them. Jefferson and douglas counties are leaving it up to the principals of those schools.
