Before he then delivered a 12 minute speech. It took another 9 minutes in questions. Just a beautiful, beautiful ceremony. Celebrating the career of Peyton Manning. More than anything else. Manning said goodbye to football today. The same way he performed on all of those suns over the past 18 sundays over the past 18 years, with a very well prepared and perfectly timed delivery. I have received more letters from you than i can count. Fan letters that have touched me, made me think, laugh, and moved me to act. I have learned a lot from my mistakes, stumbles and losses in football, and i have also learned this game is a mighty platform that has given me a voice that can echo well beyond the game. Joined now by longtime broncos pr man jim, the star of the broncos sideline stories on 9 news. If that was another football football performance and the broncos won. It reflect sod much of Peyton Manning. It reflected so much of his paten manning. He prepared. He wrote a speech. And thanked people. He was emotional. And one thank that came across how much he truly loves and respects the game of football. Everything he did was about the love for the game. The broncos have had a moment like there before. 17 years ago. When john elway said goodbye. And you helped orchestrate that afternoon. How similar or different was it for you . That was very similar. I think because it represents two iconic players leaving the game. And we really havent had other moments like that. There are all kinds of times when players leave the game and you love them all. They all work hard. But not many moments like elway and manning. Thanks, jim. A beautiful, beautiful afternoon here at broncos headquarters. As Peyton Manning says goodbye to a university of tennessee, the indianapolis colt, and most importantly, to us, the denver broncos. Really a great afternoon. Very emotional for all involved. Interviews with his friends and family who are here and show those to you tonight on the news. Great. Thank you. We look forward to seeing it. Thank you. And to the people of new orleans, loving it and always be his home. My favorite part that i tweeted and it got a lot of action on twitter, he said i am going to miss demarus thomas telling me that he loved me. He said after every touchdown, i love you and thank you for coming to denver. So personal. It was such a personal speech. Uhhuh. A lot of fans have been watching this today, because they have had great things to say about Peyton Manning. Absolutely. So many of you are sending in your thanks and love and well wishes. Continue to send them in as well. Send your messages to peyton using the hash tag be on 9. He says he is reading them. And he said he watches the news and kept up with them and thanked the fans sending the messages and letters meant more to him than anybody could ever know. Ryan harris is live outside fans have gathered to support peyton. Were they waiting for this moment . You bet, tarhonda. Some of them were telling me they were here four years ago when peyton showed up for the first time to dove valley, coming full circle with his retirement announcement today. Most of them are lined up behind the dove Valley Training Center here, at the employee parking lot. Hoping to catch a glimpse of manning, as everybody filed in. They did not see manning or get an autograph on the way in as far as we know but they certainly saw some of his teammates roll in and many of them were here from the Indianapolis Colts team that manning played on and denver teammates. No signatures handed out. But they are still waiting. They are waiting to get a chance. Fans say they saw some of the teammates rolling in. Controlled chaos out here with media across the country looking to hear from the legendary quarterback. With the colts, he turned the team around. The house that peyton built. All of the Community Services that he did. In addition to all of the football stuff, it is pretty amazing. Why did you come out here today . Just to say farewell, and say goodbye and thanks for the memories. And thanks for all of the good things he did and especially for me, maybe get a couple of autographs from him. And wanted to say thanks, and send him off the right way. So some technical difficulties, as i was saying there were university of tennessee fans here and Indianapolis Colts fans, showing up just to try to catch a glimpse of Peyton Manning and hoping to get an autograph as he pulls out of the team parking lot. We will see. I stood around with them, tarhonda and kyle, for a bit. Watching the 9 news live stream and some of them reacting and some crying as Peyton Manning welled up had. Is an emotional day for the fans as he retires as quarterback. But he might not be done with his time in the nfl. He kind of hinted at today. He is not making a decision yet, at least not publicly and a lot of fans are hoping he football within the nfl. I bet he will. So many fans. So interesting to hear you say that people were crying watching it. That one part where he said football fans everywhere need to know what they have meant to me over the years. He feels the same way we do. And he is so stoic, and to see him well up, and you cant help but say oh, paten. It endeered many of us to him even more and we saw another side, a personal side of him. Ryan, thank you very much. So you can see, there is rain out there. Yes. Unbelievable. Wow. And snow in the high country today. Look at those clouds. And kids are experiencing higher levels of stress and anxiety, at an earlier age. So what do you do to ward it off . Well, as i found out, some kids are turning to meditation. Basically, just close your eyes and try and concentrate on your breathing. And then eventually it just comes naturally. That is what 12yearold peyton hoffsteter suggests for kids who want to try meditation. She started a year ago and saw a difference right away in her ability to handle stress. Unsettled weather has moved into colorado. And we even have some thunderstorms around town. Now, we are not under the threat of seeing any severe weather. For that to happen, some of these thunderstorms have to have hail up to one inch in dimer or larger. Hour or higher. Or funnels or tornadoes. So the risk of us seeing any of that happening is really low. Even though we are seeing some lightning around town and we are also seeing a bit of hail. Now, the severe Thunderstorm Risk outlook for today, at least around the metro area, puts us under the risk of seeing general thunderstorms. So that is winds up to 40 miles per hour. Small hail. Which is what we are seeing. Range. Especially out in thornton where we have a few reports and it is always a possibly, with all thunderstorms. Now, the conditions right now, at d. I. A. , we are at 49 degrees. We have some pretty strong winds, with the front that is pushing through. Out here in the backyard, it is raining already. And our temperatures are at 43 degrees. Lets check the weather across the state. All of this unstable weather has managed to move into colorado. From the storms in california. Now a closer look around colorado, you will see that snowfalling in the high country. And rain that has just increased over the city and in Northern Colorado, and a couple of these storms carrying some lightning, some heavier pockets down near aurora, and c470, into Northern Colorado as well. And even southern wyoming, seeing that rain along i25, and i80. With that snow just steady along the front range mountains for a lot of our high country communities, as well. And now, i want to remind you that you can download our 9 news weather app and you can track the forecast right there, track the storm moving through, and with the hourly forecast, the high country, eagles nest, vail, the snow has died down some. But we know that the the travel advisories are still in effect, for the high country, at least through 6 00 this afternoon. And check out the 24hour snow report, i will get out of the way, for just a minute and up to a foot of snow in silverton and 35 inches in telluride and wolf creek. And there is that travel advisory for parts of the central and southern mountains and that drive along i70, it is going to be a tough one. Here is the future cast. Rain around the city right now. Notice as we approach the afternoon, that rain just lifts up, as that storm system starts to push into nebraska. So around 6 00, i think the drive home should be fine. Rainfree. While in Northern Colorado, we could still get some rain. 10 00 this afternoon, or in evening, we have snow in southern wyoming, a mix of rain and snow along the colorado. And wyoming and nebraska border. With that snow lingering in higher elevations. By tomorrow morning, we are waking up to partly cloudy conditions. They are in the 40s. And our high for today, they are only going to get in the 60s and the 50s. And 30s mainly for the high country. Tonight, the temperatures drop to 28 degrees. Still a bit windy from 10 to 20 miles an hour. We will have another chance of on wednesday. And then as we approach the weekend, the forecast, warming a woman who police say was in a car accident on a houston highway did something that you would not expect somebody to do after a crash. She climbed on top of a big rig and started dancing. Naked. So she gave drivers quite the show. Gyrating all over the place in her birthday suit. This unexpected show called a twohour traffic backup and this story is trending today. Firefighters and officers got a ladder and tried to get the woman down. But she kept on dancing. All right, here are some videos sent in by a viewer, becca, of hail falling in thornton. That rain is coming down across the front range, with that snow falling steadily in the high country. Now, even though you see the lightning, you hear the thunder, you see the hail, we are not expecting the storm today to turn severe so lets go to the graphics now to see what that entails. And that would have to be hail up to one inch in dimer or larger. And really strong gusts or the chance of any of that, it is so low for today. Just general thunderstorms. Will be out here, just in time for that afternoon commute. Cooler today. And tomorrow, the highs are going to be in the 50s. And another small chance for showers wednesday afternoon.
