Denver prosecutors have formally charged a woman chief eric tade earlier this week. 42yearold Marlene Rodriguez is charged with attempted Second Degree murder and first degree assault. The attack happened tuesday near colfax and speer. Rodriguez is accused of getting into the passenger seat of the chiefs vehicle and attacking him with a knife. They had never met each other. Her son tells us she has some Mental Health issues. Shell be in court next week. Lakewood police think they found the man who was dressed in a santa suit when he stabbed a passenger on an rtd bus on christmas eve. The 32yearold man was arrested thursday. When Lakewood Police found him, they issued a warrant in connection with the stabbing. He had left his cell phone on the bus, but couldnt find him because he was homeless. A new experimental treatment is showing it can stop the progression of alzheimers and good. I think most scientists assume that the changes in alzheimers were irreversible and the best you could expect in a new drug same. I dont think people actually expect that we would see right, very good. Reporter janet is one of 2000 people around the world participating in the trial. She and her husband are seeing a change. I dont think she did as well, even four or five months ago, truthfully. Reporter this is what a normal brain cell looks like. For someone with alzheimers, proteins tangle around the cells, creating a sticky clump. That will eventually kill off the cell. But the new drug still in Clinical Trials has shown to prevent the clump from happening in the first place, therefore stopping the progression of the disease. All right. Very good. Gunnison county leaders are keeping a close eye on ice jams that have developed along the gunnison river. The ice blocks the water behind it, causing potential flooding. The National Weather service has issued a flood watch, several of them actually, several this month, after ice chunks broke off and floated downstream. Folks living there say the ice jams happen every few years. Jim spar watched the last one come through the stretch of his river. I heard the sound. Sounds like a Freight Train coming through. The difference this time was the stream flows towards this bank, so all of it piled up in greater height on this side, with the lesser buildup on the other side. It got up close to those cabins over there and there was some flat lander tourists that came running out of the cabins. They were pretty excited. It didnt get to them because it. They finished up the Academy Phase of their training and they were sworn in this morning at the Denver Police academy. Dc, up through new york right now, and were also anticipating a little coastal flooding with this storm system as well. We have a slew of winter storm watches, warnings, advisories, and even a blizzard warning for the dcbaltimore area, stretching up toward new york just because were not only anticipating some huge totals as far as the snow goes, but the winds will be wicked out there, too. Some spots around dc, baltimore, 60 mileperhour gusts. Around 50 Miles Per Hour speeds for new york, where they could see 8 to 16 inches. But again, the heart of the storm system really stays in the nations capital. While this storm system wreaks havoc this weekend, all eyes out to the pacific northwest, where our next system is coming in from. Its going to be relatively weak, positioning itself across Southeastern Colorado by sunday evening. Well see some of those flurries pushing into the denver metro area just a couple hours before then.
