The 1100mile pipeline would move oil from north dakota to illinois. The sioux tribe filed a temporary restraining order to stop work on the pipeline, saying it was not properly consulted before the project was approved. The tribe says there are burial significant features in the path which is close to but not on a reservation. People have been protesting the pipeline for months. Sarah ortegon is among them. She lives in denver. She joined in the protest because she says shes so worried about the pipeline traveling underneath the missouri river. Over the weekend, she recorded a confrontation between protesters and private security there. They had guard dogs who were parking at basically letting the guard dogs loose to fight people. So one man sitting in a popular bar in the highlands neighborhood was stabbed in the neck in the afternoon. The attacker is gone and the police are trying to find him. The owner of the station says the guy just walked up to the victim and just stabbed him. Witnesses say they saw the victim holding his throat as he has very serious injuries. Hour thoughts and prayers are with him and his family right now. The police dont have a lot to go on. The suspect was kind of generically described as a 63 black man weighing somewhere between 250 and 300 pounds, last seen wearing a green shirt and khaki shorts. 6 34 right now. Colleen, just how much faster. Cdot tells me that its 20 29 faster for everyone throughout all of the lanes out here along the u. S. 36 corridor. So how did they come up with this. They tell me that they an specifically looked at peak morning, peak afternoon rush hours. They compared it to free construction on u. S. 36. They specifically compared those to the morning and news hours just to give us a better idea of how well its working. They say in the first days of express lanes. See how drivers chose to use the express lanes every month. This past spring, they say close to 900 drivers use one of those express lanes every month. Only 35 of these trips are a full trip from denver to boulder. Theres several entrance and exit points on the express lane. As you see with these numbers, guys, people are using the lanes. A lot of people have an opinion about it. Its a good option to have. When i have to get through real quick, then i dont mind having the expa expense for extra expense for the convenience. I think theres a tradeoff there. Its not worth it to me. It really isnt. Just use the regular lanes. Some of you say when youre driving out here, you see people weaving in and out of the express lanes at all times. You say ats unfair. Im going to going to talk about that coming up in the next hour. The cameras are not going away anytime soon. The city of denver is looking to add more of them and lock in the Red Light Program for another several years. Some of the cities most dangerous intersections. Denver public works data show cameras are not at spots with the most crashes. Only one, 8th and spear of most crashed areas. The other intersections dont crack the top 25. We would agree with you that thats part of this new contract. We would like to be able to use that technology where it is needed best. We noticed these, when they put up the cameras, these were not the four hottest intersections, not by a long shot. The cameras are known to be a money maker. The city has taken in more than half a Million Dollars in fines these cameras since 2008. Firefighters are gaining ground on a Larimer County fire. The star wood fire is now 60 contained. Thats up from about 30 yesterday. It burned just over 300 acres after it started on sunday. Its still threatening about 30 homes this morning. It is 639 right now. A new Government Survey shows people are not signing up for about 1. 3 million fewer people were uninsured in the first three months of this year, driving the uninsured rate to a new record low of 8. 6 . When is this expected to cross into the u. S. Is it going to affect us . I dont think it affects us anymore than bringing us high clouds. It is getting ready to move across the u. S. Mexico border i hours. You can see it cross over into southern arizona, move to tropical depression status. Its going to cut right through tucson today. This is going to be a lot of rain with this storm. Anywhere from 36inches of rain locally, especially in western new mexico and southern sections and southeastern sections of arizona. They have flash flood sections throughout the area there. On the other side of that, all that moisture is going to stay south of us so we dont really see much of that other than the problem here with high fire danger throughout grand county and Jackson County from noon to 7 00 today. Gusty west wind and very low relative humidity. Were taking a look up north once again a gridlock delay.
