We have winter storm warnings in place for the northern and central mountains. That will continue until midnight tonight with winter the front range, areas above about 9,000 feet and then across Southeastern Colorado theyre saying what storm . Red flag warnings, high wind warning in places like lamar, trinidad. Wind gusts out of the north, 30 mileperhour gusts in fort collins, 26 in greeley, the northerly winds making their way into the city in the next hour or two. As far as temperatures go. Im sure you felt the bite in the the interstate, 20s in the foothills now. Looking ahead at what we anticipate the next several hours a little bit more snowfall. This day starting off warm and in the 50s and in about 30 minutes the temperatures dropped and so did the snow and that started causing huge problems along i70. Then this storm rolled in so fast i think a lot of drivers werent expecting to have to react to this kind of winter weather, but it looks and is reacting on the roads a lot more of what we should be seeing this time of year. This for as bad as it is to drive, its come just in time for keystone and Copper Mountain which had to delay their openings but will be opening tomorrow putting some people to work who have been waiting for this snow to roll in so they could start their jobs. Yeah. We know they needed that moisture so badly up there. Cdot taking a zero tolerance approach to the tire treads this year. You have to make sure you have the right tires if youre headed up i70. Well, we finally saw our first snowflakes of the season, but this will be the third latest snowfall, november 19th , 1931 we saw an inch and then november 21st, 1934, an inch. So here we are. Look at some of these snow reports coming into it, conifer around 3 inches, 1 1 2 inches in fort collins, monument an inch and the snowfallnt on hd doppler 9 you can see as this storm system just continues to rotate into northeastern colorado the heaviest snowfall in south dakota into the panhandle of nebraska and for us around here what you see is what you get. This will be with us at least the next several hours. About 10 p. M. Everything quits. The advisories stretch from the western slope and high country through the Northern Plains where we have blizzard warnings in place through tonight for snowfall winding down in the high country, picking up around the front range and also the Eastern Plains. They saw a little rainfall early on, but the temperatures dropped like that and now theyre looking at some heavy bands of snow from julesburg south toward ray into burlington and there it is along i76 a little light steady snowfall coming here to downtown denver which certainly will make the evening drive a slow one, a tricky one. As our ground is just so warm since it has the past couple days, were seeing a lot of the snowfall melting. However, its going to leave a little bit of water that. Water will freeze tonight with these temperatures dipping to the teens for overnight lows. That means it could be an extremely icy night on the roads and into tomorrow, too. I think tomorrow mornings drove will be especially tough. Set drive will be especially tough. Set those alarm clocks a little bit earlier, maybe work from home, go in a little late. Its an interesting thing what im about to tell you, but its a great time to be paralyzed because we have got amazing researchers who are doing things that are remember when we find a cure for spinal cord injuries, well also find it for als and parkinsons.
