Thats why you still have a job. Exactly. Job security. Two people are in Police Custody after a suspect threatened to shoot police in brighton today. A man and woman were arrested shortly after 2 p. M. Outside of a home near 10th avenue and bush street. The arrest came after a nine this began shortly after 5 a. M. Police say they received a call from a man who said officers were trying to kick down his door. When they arrived, investigators say they didnt find any other Law Enforcement at the home. Officers say the man then threatened to shoot them if they tried to come inside. A woman was inside the home. Police have not confirmed what involvement she had in the case. Neighbors nearby watched the whole situation unfold. All the cops and my wife went to walk to work and shes got the street shut down. And she was kind of freaked out by the whole thing, too. Three schools in the area were also placed on lockout. The students were able to leave this afternoon as normal. The identities of the two people arrested have not been released. A cattle truck rolled over on eastbound i70 this morning. A cattle truck packed with 80 cows, around 9 00 this morning. Eight animals died and the crash caused backups for hours. The semis brakes went out causing it to roll over. The driver was not hurt. 9news reporter matt renoux said 55 had been rounded up about the rest are still roaming around georgetown. Matt will have a live report on 9news at 5 00. Highs in the 60s across the metro area this afternoon, just a gorgeous day even with the cloud cover. Meteorologist belen deleon is in the backyard. Lets get to those graphics because it has been a very different day than what we had yesterday when our temperatures got into the upper 70s. Today a cooldown coming in from the west has really dropped our temperatures especially in the high country. Here in the metro area about 6 degrees cooler than 24 hours ago. Our temperatures got into the low 70s across the front range and cooler in the high country where weve got 50s and 60s for places like nederland springs. Winter park is drying out now, but we had some wet roads out there and fall all gone, that tree there in the foreground, no leaves to be seen. Were starting to see the transition of seasons in the high country. That rain thats been pushing in very scattered from the southwest. Currently we have very light rain falling in our Central Mountains and even close to the front range mountains near nederland and just north of winter park. In northeastern colorado also some very light showers that forecast right now is much drier across the front range, humidity at about 20 . So its hard to get any of kind of precipitation over the front range. The view outside of our home here on speer and logan is starting to show blue in the sky and a little bit of a breeze. Now the forecast the rest of the evening calls for clearing skies and our temperatures cooling down into the 40s. Anything you have to do outside the remainder of this afternoon into this evenin will be dry, 60s through about 6 p. M. And in the low 60s after that sun sets. The overnight low will drop to around 46 degrees. So its just an awesome afternoon and evening, just really clear for anything you want to do outside. The lows across the front range will drop to the 40s. This is above normal for this time of year and close to the foothills temperatures in the 30s. Stick around. The Justice Department has been forced to scale back the number of poll watchers they send out across the country. A 2012 Supreme Court decision gutted a key provision of the Voting Rights act keeping observes are out of many states that have observers out of experienced voter intimidation and even fraud. The fbi will have a command have to monitor security threats after officials have warned of Russian Hackers trying to interfere with the elections process. The department of defense says its working on it. Last week nearly 10,000 National Guard soldiers in california were told to repay bonuses they were given to sign up to serve in iraq and afghanistan. So we hope that since it is so new people are paying at guidelines. If a student shows up in a clown costume, its up to the individual School Leaders to decide what to do. Brighton 27j schools have banned clown costumes. Jefferson and douglas counties are leaving it up to the principals to decide what to do. It is a good year to be a cu buff especially after many long lean years. Coach mcintyre and the Football Team are enjoying a bye week ranked 23rd in both the a. P. And coaches poll. Good for them. Fans are so excited they already lined up this morning at progressive field. The indians last won the title in 1948 and the cubs in 1908. The stats on this series are just everywhere right now. And one vehicle model in particular could be dangerous the Prime Minister of australia is getting involved into the investigation of four deaths at an Amusement Park on the countrys east coast. Two men and two women died on a ride called Thunder River rapid at dream world. The park is the main tourist attraction district in australias North Eastern state of queensland. The four people ranged in age from early 30s to early 40s. The ride consists of six seated round floating devices that follow a water course simulating what would be on the river rapids. Early reports indicate that the rides Conveyor Belt malfunctioned and that may have ejected two of the victims and pinned the other two either we still want to cry. We think it was her mom involved in the accident. We were waiting about a half hour. The engineers had to come and drain all the water out and filled it back up. We were stopped about 30 to 40 minutes at least. The government is promising a thorough investigation. Opposition Labor Party Leader bill shorton tweeted his condolences. Women who are African American tend to be at a younger age of diagnosis. In general its about four years younger than an average caucasian woman. They tend to have more aggressive Breast Cancers. Also the tumors tend to be larger. They have a higher stage which is the size and whether its traveled to the lymph nodes and beyond at the time of diagnosis. So all of age, more aggressive biology, higher stage, come together to give a worse prognosis and a worse survival rate. It almost makes you feel uncomfortable because its like its this hidden disease amongst our community and its not. Were the face of Breast Cancer, too. Questions about access to healthcare and treatment for African American women one possible explanation for the disparity in survival rates. The conversation may be shifting about alcoholism. A new study shows women catching up with men when it comes to how much and often they drink. The gender gap narrowed over the last 66 years. Researchers say its not clear if women are drinking more or men drinking less, but the results show alcohol disorders are no longer just a male phenomenon. The trend is most prominent among young adults. We know its been dry across the state this october and right now we have abnormally dry conditions for parts of the mountains, the i southern colorado and southeast colorado. A closer look, places along the front range are currently experiencing moderate drought conditions. Now heres a map that shows above average precipitation and below average precipitation. For the year were about 2 1 2 inches below where we should be in the metro area. Colorado springs also in the deficit, aspen, grand junction, durango almost 4 inches below disappear after today unfortunately, a drier forecast for wednesday, thursday, friday and saturday. Right now our temperatures are at 71 degrees at dia. Out here in the backyard its a pleasant afternoon. I have a mix of cloud and sun right clouds and sun over my head right now and were at 70 degrees. Currently we have a little rain falling in places near front range mountains like kremmling and some darker clouds down south near Monument Hill with a youll notice the clearing by and large at the Eastern Plains where temperatures are in the 70s currently. A closer look and well see darker clouds to the south near Monument Hill and sunnier skies north near fort collins where we just saw that beautiful shot. Temperatures there are in the 70s. Here in the city our skies are gradually clearing and our rain chances are going down the rest of the evening. This afternoon 60s and tonight temperatures are on e cool side. Now rain, snow in the mountains, it really has not been that impressive. We dont have any travel advisories there. Our chances for rain go down after about 10 p. M. In the mountains as the skies start to clear. In the city a few clouds around town and overnight through tomorrow morning our skies will be clear and our wednesday is setting up to be a very dry from east to west across colorado. 43 is your low tonight. Skies clear. State, just a quiet weather pattern, 20s in some spots in the high country overnight and 40s for us in lower elevations and out on the Eastern Plains which is still above normal for this time of year. Our jet stream forecast through the end of the week will build in this ridge. So this little kink that just kind of points over colorado through the end of the week will allow our temperatures to continue to warm. You thought we were done with the 80s . We could be seeing more of them the yellow line you see here are the existing record highs and heres our forecast. Notice thursday and friday well come really close to maybe tying our breaking that record high. By saturday that record high is 84 degrees. Well be at 78 degrees. On sunday another possibility of seeing a record high. With our above normal temperatures for the month of october our overall monthly temperature right now is 56. 9 degrees. That puts us at the sixth this is the last week of october. We are past that average first snowfall date for the metro area which is october 17th. So it doesnt look like well see any snow in october, but thats not an unusual thing. In fact, from 1882 to 2015 there have been 18 octobers with no snow and it looks like this one at least here in the city will be no. 19. So heres what the last week of october has in store for you. Then thursday and friday highs close to the records in the 80s. Saturday and sunday its just slightly cooler. Well have clouds increase and the winds increasing as well. Well take the forecast even farther than that because well see 60s in the forecast for halloween. That means around trickor treat time our temperatures will be between 59 to 53 degrees. So it will be a dry night. Those temperatures are a little cool, but skies will be partly cloudy and it ll well. So well continue to tweak that forecast. There have been reports about the runway that indicate concerns about noise and having to destroy homes close by, but the department of transportation there says it wants to convey that britain is open for business. Over the summer the United Kingdom voted to leave the european union. Economists say that has Great Britain on a path for a Slower Economy next year. We thought long and hard about this. The committee considered all three options. They were very good options on the table, but we believe a third runway for heathrow is country to provide the best trade links to the world. So we think this is the right decision for britain. A decision on the exact location of the new runway is still up for discussion. Parliament is expected to vote on the deal next year. Allegiance plans to operate yearround with about 10 flights per week. Tell youll ride Regional Airport is 10 minutes away from the town and the ski slopes. These two franchises hold the longest world series droughts. The matchup combines 174 years of longing and heartbreak complete with the longest world series championship droughts in baseball left. Just reminding folks its been pretty bad. Boy, the fans have suffered. So many of them have stood by their team. Now four wins is all this separates one of these teams from ending years of disappointment and bearing curse. We looked into the superstitions surrounding the teams. Hes been very well behaved in the backyard. We are coaxing him with treats. Hes a very happy guy. He loves to go out on walks. Hes a cuddler on the couch and he just likes to hang out at home with his best friend. We hear he would do best in a home with older kids. Hes great with cats. Hes awesome with dogs. Hes coming to us from the Longmont Humane Society and you having a field trip. He hasnt been out of the shelter. So were happy to be able to show him off here on 9news. Hopefully a family is watching now that will take him home so he zen have to be at the shelter for he doesnt have to be at the shelter for too much longer. Hes very well behaved. Hes just posing for the camera. Hes very photogenic. Hes patient just looking right in there and does a good little handshake, too. Hes a hes nice and calm and cool paying attention to everything.
