We all can feel it. Weekend. Were going to talk about our increased fire danger, when conditions are expected to change next in beckys well, that says it all right there. That flip is whipping and if youve been outside today, you probably were blown away a bit, too, by just how windy it is out there. Fire danger in our state. We have a 13,000acre fire burning in southern colorado now that we are monitoring closely. This wind is a problem out there right now, this wind, those red flag warning in many parts of the state. Lets check in with Becky Ditchfield now. Its wild just how windy it is. It is of the unfortunate that im kind every surrounded by these brick kind of surrounded by these brick walls here in the 9news backyard. The wind is not too bad out here, although it does pick up building. Overnight the gusts will start to die down. We may see breezy conditions again tomorrow, but to start off lets go straight to the maps. I want to talk about the Wind Gust Forecast specifically for the area of westcliffe. Winds are out of the west gusting throughout this afternoon and evening to about 31 Miles Per Hour. Then you can see shortly after midnight they die down to around 11 Miles Per Hour, great news for firefighters, those calmer winds. The other side of 6 30 in the morning you get closer to lunchtime and those winds pick back up again. Theyll be out of the south tomorrow in the westcliffe area. Well see 20 mileperhour gusts at that point. We may see gusts get back up to 30 to 35 Miles Per Hour again tomorrow afternoon. Here in town thats a different picture, calmer winds outside the building here at 9news. We have had some gusty winds here across the front range, up around greeley. Weve got 54 mileperhour gusts there, 30 mileperhour gusts around fort collins. Colorado springs seeing 37 mile perhour gusts and then gusts down near alamosa, 40 mine Miles Per Hour, rather impressive 49 Miles Per Hour, rather impressive, all those areas under the red flag warning which does go until 9 00 tonight, 55 mileperhour gusts combined with very low relative humidity between 5 and 15 . It means fire danger will remain very high r area, locations down through the West Mountains and on out to our eastern plains. Were also seeing a little rain and notice. Its not a lot, but this cold front snow. Its not a lot, but this cold front is bringing wind and snow to some folks. The snow limited over the northern mountains getting close to the red feather lakes. Its too dry and diminishing it. Just dries up on the radar screen. Weve got a lot of wind reports to the south near Colorado Springs 61 mileperhour gusts. That was shortly after 1 p. M. Today. Around pikes peak this morning we saw 89 mileperhour gusts and just before 11 a. M. Colorado city saw 62 mileper hour gusts. So the wind has been very impressive. Earlier it was out of the west which helped push temperatures up to about 75 degrees today, well above our average high of 65. Since then our winds have shifted. The front has pushed through. So we denver. 59 in greeley, 57 in fort collins and down to the south and southeast we are in the upper 80s and low 90s, believe it or not. Here outside in the 9news backyard on this midoctober day we are at 64 degrees, so mild out here so far as we get into this evening, those kind of temperatures expected even to continue behind the front. We wont cool off much more. The front pushes off to our south and east. The wind will go with it. Tomorrow it might be a little on the breezy side. Getting into tonight well have 20 mileperhour gusts in denver, 24 mileperhour gusts on the eastern plains. Overnight the winds die down even more. We get into tomorrow and it might become a little bit breezy, but that does not happen until after 9 00, 10 00 in the morning. Tomorrow will also bring a slightly better chance for some showers. Well see the showers in our mountains die off tonight. Everybody becomes dry from the western slope to the plains. Then tomorrow the shower activity picks back up in our northern mountains. This farther of the system will try and push one or two very isolated rain showers east of i 25 tomorrow. The chance that you actually see some of that rain at your house tomorrow afternoon is very, very small. If you do, its going to be a light brief rain shower at best. Overnight lows tonight middle to upper 30s, upper 30s, lower 40s for our eastern plains, 20 Miles Per Hour. Tomorrow 64 the high, mostly sunny, seasonal day. We have that small, small chance for a late evening shower, but again it is not that impressive. Thats the only chance for rain that we have over the next five days. So well get whatever we can take at this point. 55 degrees our high for wednesday. Wednesday looks cool. Thursday were back up to the low 60s and then 70s return for friday and saturday of the it is definitely on the breezy side out here. You can see even in the 9news backyard and that is usually fairly stationary moving around quite a bit. Thats my windmill thats next to the arbor we have here, but weve got to get through today. Hopefully the calm winds help out firefighters, but theyll pick back up again tomorrow afternoon. Best of luck to all those firefighters down there. Thanks, becky. Youve seen people do this. This does nothing. It still explodes. It does nothing. Heres what happens. When you shake up a can, the bubbles are actually hooking onto the sides of the can. So thats where they are right there. If you open it up, the bubbles get bigger and push the liquid out. If you move the bubbles to the top, you wont get wet. E everybody. Now snap the side. Thats it. If you snap the side all the way around, you move the bubbles to the very top. If you move the bubbles to the top, you shouldnt get that wet. From somebody that understands this, this will be yours. This will be mine. Three, two, one, pop it open. Did you see that . Pour it. In take your bow. It still has bubbles. No. Diet soda doesnt work so well. My wifes husband shook it up like this and tried to be smart to people and go like this ding, ding, ding. So for some dumb reason the bubbles go to the other side. The best thing is we just messed up a whole bunch of people watching because now i dont know what part of their life l and watch somebody do this and theyll go kim christiansen, she caught me that. Now it depends what kind of friend you are if you tell them not to do that. Why not do this and shake it up and go the secret is tapping and it will go everywhere.
