This is exciting, we dont get to see the eclipse this time but our time is coming, you guys. In just a few hours places like indonesia, new guinea, Northern Australia will see a full or partial Solar Eclipse. Nasa scientists told me they are using the opportunity to conduct some important studies related to the sun. Mainly, they are using the eclipse to get a better look at the corona of the son, the outer atmosphere of the sun, there is flares coming off the sun. Nasa wants to see what is going on and will get a clearer picture when the moon blocks out they have equipment in the path, ready to make the observations and they say that is important because solar flares and storms can effect how technology, like satellites and gps function and orbit. The sun is producing huge eruptions, solar weather that sends out material into space and sometimes impacts the earth. And we are interested in understanding why this happens is better predicting it eventually and studying the corona is one of the keys to this. So here we go, get ready, next year, mark your calendars, august 21st, 2017, around 11 30 in the morning. That is when a Solar Eclipse, either total or partial will be visible in nearly all of the continental u. S. That has not happened since the 1970s. Here in colorado you can expect you have a better chance of total if you go a little north into wyoming because of the way it is moving from oregon to south carolina.
