Reporter december 3rd, 2014, adsit an officers escort High School Students during a protest when the driver of a black mercedes hit him. His partner saw the whole thing. The car slowed down. I slid off the hood. Then it dragged me underneath. Reporter he suffered a broken pelvis, collapsed artery, collapsed lung, damage to his eye and with 18 surgeries theres more to come. I was supposed to lose this odds he says not by himself but with tremendous support from the community and his family. He knows not all critically injured First Responders get the backing or Media Attention hes received. So hes paying it forward and started a nonprofit so he can help others get through a tough time physically, financially and mentally. For me there were many days and many weeks even that i wanted to give up.
