And the cities are bracing for potential out of protests this weekend. The rally is ready to go, go, but not in berkeley. The permit for the rally has been denied. We have the blue we have new information from Civic Center Park in berkeley, with the reasons for that permit denial. City leaders say this had nothing to do with the theme, it was because the permit applications failed to meet criteria. 300 people were expected to gather in the Civic Center Park for this rally organized by a transgender patriot. And this letter denied the permit, saying the application was late by three days, and it was incomplete with no photo identification or arrangements for first aid services, and lacks explanation of security arrangements. The sound permit was incomplete and it was also late. The police chief says his officers are continuing to prepare in case people show up anyway. There are more resources being allocated to the event. It will look and feel different. The chief said that they have learned from previous events after some had criticized officers for not doing enough. The balance between free speech and security has become national debate. Irwin has written a book on free speech and says the permit denial is legal. The government can require the permit as long as there is clear criteria and discussion of licensing, and as long as there are procedural safeguards. And any speaker, for any speaker, regardless, this is constitutional. We do not want you here, we will not tolerate you here, learn that lesson soon. Her event was never about fascism or right she says her event was not about White Supremacy or fascism. After the rally would say simply please leave, stay away from civic stay away from Civic Center Park. Free speech is protected, but they can still keep groups apart. The city plans to ban guns and other items in the parks and along the streets surrounding it. They plan to have the lists released sometime tomorrow. A campaign has raised money for renting a barge, and trump chickens have showed up to protest, a symbol for people that are angry that trump refuses to release his tax returns. They asked people to hang those posters in storefronts, churches and homes. We want to send a message that oakland is not welcoming of the tree, racism, racism, or anything like that. It was approved last november, setting a five year limit for appeals of the death penalty. The six millionsquarefoot facility would be built near the train station near the heart of downtown san jose. And they met to talk about views and concerns over the project. And the plan to put that campus downtown could present a challenge for the largest city in the bay area. Dialogue here is very important. Google has not realized what the community is asking for. Good paying jobs and good work aiming we are looking for good working conditions. We welcome them, but they have to hear from the residence. The project is a major expansion. The company could employ 20,000 workers in the new facility. A conservative Student Group has confirmed that controversial speakers will be on campus next month. They have agreed to take part in what is being called free speech week at the school. At uc berkeley, free speech and Campus Safety on a collision course. A leader of the republican Student Coalition has confirmed conservative authors and provocateurs have agreed to speak on campus. The university is preparing. They have been goodfaith partners. They reached out early, early, in middle july, with a heads up about the intent to hold this fourday event. They are following policy to the letter. There were reports that steve benton was also coming. Organizers say that has not been confirmed. Last february, a wry it broke out on campus. Six people were injured in that event and the speech was canceled. And this year they say will be different. In the wake of what happened last year, our Police Department did a review of every arrangement made before, during, and after the event. The Berkeley College republicans which organized the event applied the new effort. We are happy to have the speakers. Berkeley will have made good on the promise that it is the home of the free speech movement. Some students were making antiracist signs for a counter demonstration and they do not want the conservative speakers on campus. I think it is disgusting that they are framing this as a free speech issue when there are flyers being put around campus calling for genocide. Is unacceptable. The concern is weather demonstrations will turn violent. And they are suing the state of california for throwing out 45,000 ballots because of invalid signatures. The aclu claims Election Officials determine they determined that the signature on file did not match. They were never notified that ballots were rejected. And they called on the state to fix what they call a dangerous practice of disenfranchisement. In 2015, a professor was found to have sexually harassed a female student. And he was put on paid administrative leave, required to complete training and had to step down. He was supposed to return this fall. That after complaints, the university has canceled both of his teaching assignments. We dont know what is going to happen in spring. Who is going to teach . What is happening with the Department Overall . We dont know. University officials have offered students an option to take different classes, so they can complete required courses. And it has been three years since an earthquake hit vallejo, and there is more rebuilding work to do. Some businesses and some homeowners are having trouble working with insurance companies. And a 12 million project just starting to take bids. The historic nature of this building takes careful attention to construction. To the construction is expected to start next month on that project.
