Its the end point of the march and also a significant space that will become a transgender cultural district. Good news for many people in the Transgender Community after a year when many of them say nationwide the Transgender Community has been under attack. Waving pink and blue colors of the transgender flags high over the hills overlooking San Francisco. Thousands of people joined in a Pride Week Celebration of transes idea and Community Celebration of transunion ideas and the community. Theres a lot more people like me out here. Its a really good feeling. Its been a hard year. Reporter jay is one of the organizers saying trans communities nationwide have been facing difficult sites. On friday u. S. Military chief called for a delay in a policy allowing transgender troops to enlist. Its thought to limit transgender peoples access to restrooms. I have seen that scare. That you have to be a part of our movement as we move forward and challenge the decision in washington. And really make our lives visible. Reporter anthony came from san antonio, texas where a new law prohibits him from using bathrooms at his high school. You cant go in the boys bathroom or the girls bathroom. Reporter some points in San Francisco where a bathroom bill was passed then repealed after the nba and ncaa and Large Companies boycotted the state. Ive seen a lot of progress and i think were going to continue to make progress where we will be fighting back against it all just because of this progress. We need to educate people. Reporter signs as the crowds left the twomile trans march down Market Street. Their message is one of pride. Theyre very strong and real smart people. As long as we stick together were going to be free. I like how it does not feel as corporate like saturday and sunday. The community is getting together, being revolutionary. Reporter the march ended in the tenderloin at the site of the new transgender cultural district at church and taylor. A place for transgender people to build businesses and their lives. We are looking for a place and an opportunity to be employed. Reporter the city proved funding for the transgender cultural district just this week. All of them are moving into the bay area this weekend especially with the fog nearby the coast and pushing back into the bay right now. Take a look at the satellite with cooler temperatures today and cooler for your bay area weekend as well. Another live camera look towards the bay bridge and you get the idea of whats happening here. The top of the tower is being covered up. For tomorrow in San Francisco and for the morning hours, mostly cloudy skies that will eventually have partly cloudy skies. Temperatures in the 60s. Right around 62 to 65 and of course the big parade is coming up on sunday. We are expecting the parade route during the 10 00 hour in the upper 50s. Once we get them well scale back on some of the clouds out towards Civic Center Plaza. Temperatures on track to reach right around 64, possibly 65 degrees. Starting off cool could be mild with more sunshine throughout the afternoon hours by sunday afternoon. A major cool down here in the bay area. Well have more on that coming up in a few minutes. Bart is recovering from major delays during the evening commute for the burning to change. With bart only able to use a single track in the city. The fire blown from an insulator. The damage was already done before crews got there. San francisco train stations were packed full of commuters trying to get home. And it will say a five minute delay or a tenminute delay. But it actually just says major delays. No time frame whatsoever. Trains are operating normally, but you could face delays tonight. The Golden Gate Bridge district has decided to close the northbound side of the bridge for the upcoming San Francisco marathon because of safety concerns. It will be the first time one side of the bridge will be closed for a race. This the closure of the minnesota side means theres a solid bare between the northbound side means theres a solid barrier. Its just something professionals in the arena just have to keep track of and, you know, when we decide it may impact what were doing on our property we have to do whats right for you. They are all so concerned. Its expected to draw about 15,000 runners. Those northbound lanes will be shut down between 6 00 to 9 00 in the morning. New information about last weeks deadly shooting at the ups building in San Francisco. Police now say the gun used to kill the three drivers had been stolen s. We also got our first look at the shooter jeremy lam. As rob malcolm reported he said they targeted other men. The weapon was jimmy lam. Police also recovered a backpack at the scene, which contained ammunition. Only the mac10 was used with 20 rounds fired. Police were asked how mr. Lam was able to get the gun into a secured ups facility. Mr. Lam was in the building for employment purposes. Any information we have as to where he came in and the security and the magnitude and video is best answered by ups. Reporter he was known to police and booked before for nonviolent offenses. Police have interviewed over 100 witnesses. Some said lam walked by employees and shot four people inside the building during a meeting and then tactorred michael outside. After the shooting inside the building, numerous employees fled the building. Mr. Lam was observed on the video calmly walking outside the building as well. Once outside the building, mr. Lam walked up to michael lefiti. Mr. Lam shot lefiti multiit will times. Lam was confronted by officers and took his own life. A search warrant found multiple cellar phones cellular phones, journals, all a part of the investigation. We are reviewing the items now that will determine if there is any information on the computers or inside the journal that will lead to a motive. Reporter four people were shot inside that building, two of them were victims. As to new information from the motive may come from the two surviving suspects. Rob malcolm ktvu fox 2 news. A deadly fall along the coast of San Francisco. Coming up new information about the 17yearold girl who died at lands end. The fog cooled off the entire bay area today. Instead of triple digits well have the 90s out there. Then Incoming College freshmen getting an early lesson in supply and demand. Why hundreds of students are being told they might not have fusing come might not have housing come fall. As Tara Moriarty reports she was in an area restricted to the public when she fell hundreds of feet. Friends say 17yearold tori larocca was an adventurous girl. Last night around 6 30 she and two girlfriends were hiking at lands end when larocca accidentally slipped plunging more than 300 feet to her death. It just kills me to think of someone falling over there especially a young girl. Its terrible. Reporter the fall was so far it was faster for them to get larocca by jet ski rather than the Fire Departments rope team. She later died in the San Francisco. Oh, its horrible. I cant even imagine what that would be like. It is just horrible. Reporter a friend who did not want to speak on camera dropped flowers off for larocca today. Its a breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge, but an area restricted to the public. It is incredibly dangerous. Reporter in fact a 26year old seattle woman also plunged to her death in the same spot in october of 2014. Lori loutrell says there are danger signs posted, but shes an experienced hiker and goes through at her own risk. With all the rain we have, theres a lot of grass that covers the edge. I can see how it is easy to slip over. I mean i get nervous over there. Reporter weve seen several people go in and out even though this area is restricted. As you can see it is quite easy to get by the fence. Its something to instill in these kids there are reasons for these laws and guidelines. If there is a fence there, dont cross it. Reporter the signage isnt bold enough and there should be more fencing closer to the edge to alert people to the shear drop. A National Park Service Official will be looking into the matter. Toxicology reports are not yet available, which would show if there were any drugs or alcohol in the laroccas system. Her classmates say she was sweet, real, and loved by all. In San Francisco Tara Moriarty ktvu fox 2 news. Police in oakland found a man shot and killed inside his car after it crashed into some parked cars this afternoon. Sky fox was over the scene earlier today. The driver crashed his car near seminary avenue and foothill boulevard pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he had been shot on bankcroft avenue. So far no arrests have been made and no word on a motive. Also in oakland, police are investigating the suspicious death of a 102yearold woman. Police officers were called to the home on 22nd avenue near east 30th street early sunday morning. Mildred williams was found dead inside the home. New york state is scrambling to find housing after the university accepted a larger freshman class than anticipated. As ann rubin reports, finding an affordable place is no easy task in the tight Silicon Valley real estate market. Reporter before transferring to san jose state university, whitney furtada was not expecting an email saying she is one of the 1,400 students who could not be guaranteed oncampus housing. I didnt get anything at all. So im like i dont know where im going to live. I cant commute from stockton, california area. The problem, the school admitted a bumper crop. They had a freshman class of about 3,200 students last year. We did seek to expand that to about 4,000 this fall. Right now we have 5,050 signed up for orientation. Theres only 4,000 on campus meeting most of the housing weight lists, including about 120 freshmen who will likely not get into the dorms. The housing crisis, its something we all need to address and its something at the top of our list and we will be looking at it in the coming months and years. Reporter over the last ten years, they are not currently seeing any plans for more. Perspective students say it is worrisome, especially considering the costs it in Silicon Valley. It is definitely a factor for me because i would want to love on campus and i would want to know ill be fine here. I would be willing to do it going from the Community College where i saved two years doing that. If it were out of high school, i would reconsider. Reporter she wishes she would have known sooner. Now she has two months to figure out what she could afford and whether shell be able to find roommates. Its very frustrating. Me and my mom are continuously looking for apartments. Ive never been, ive never had my own apartment before, so i dont know what to do. Reporter san jose state usually requires freshmen coming from outside a 30mile radius to live on campus. That requirement will now be waived. In san Jose Ann Rubin ktvu fox 2 news. The weather cooled off a bit today allowing horse racing to begin at Alameda County fair. Opening day for the races was scheduled to take place yesterday, but had to be canceled because of the extreme heat. Officials were worried about the health risks to the horses and the jockeys. It was the first time in the history of the fair that opening day at the horse races had to be canceled. It has been a very hot stretch of hot temperatures i should say, especially in the inland neighborhoods going back to last weekend. Livermore 97 degrees. Sunday 105, 104 monday. Slight cooling on tuesday and then temperatures will zoom back up. Wednesday and thursday and today 94 degrees and good news if you are not a fan of the heat, we will continue to cool off for the weekend. Take a look at the temperatures this afternoon. The clouds over San Francisco, oakland, hayward, possibly fremont, clouds will clear back to the shoreline with a few high clouds rolling through the area by the afternoon hours as well. Eventually the temperature range will continue to cool off with some mid60s coast side here. Warmest locations inland, no major heat. Close to 90 degrees. Boy would the people love to see two parties getting together and coming up with the Perfect Health care plan. Because obamacare has failed now, its dead. The president is not convinced though and said by the time the plan comes up for a vote next week hell be able to get all four of those senators to come around to a yes. Frank . Garrett tenney in the nations capitol tonight, thank you. Here in california the Assembly Speaker says lawmakers will not pick up Single Health care bills this year. The measure passed the state senate and they would set up guaranteed health care for californians with no outof pocket costs such as copays or deductibles. But it did not reveal funding costs. Assembly speaker Anthony Rendon called the bill willfully incomplete and suggested the senate should draft a new version. A change to gmail and how they handle your messages. The kings highway is home to the mobile masses, but the wheels of change are turning. Over the past month in particular we have seen a rise in the vehicles parked along the street. Weve gotten calls from folks on whats going on. Reporter the city manager says in response to residents and their complaints, the city will in two weeks begin enforcing their parking ordinance, parked vehicles will need to move every three days. Im telling you its on the table, but completely the last resort. That is absolutely our last hope. Reporter the Police Department says the change will come in steps. First an inspirational flier and then a 72hour warning and lastly towing the vehicle. But they say the vehicle must be moved at least half a mile away, but does not say for how long. And so a driver could get in and circle the block for half a mile and then come right back and park in their same spot. But the only mandate, they could prove the vehicle was moved. Critics question the timing of the crackdown and they say they provide the pads around the ordinance. If it really comes down to it, people need to learn how to play leapfrog. Reporter others say more help is needed from social welfare agencies. Palo alto Opportunity Services center is one place offering aid to the homeless. You might need some help with a meal every now and then or a pair of socks to help get you through the end of the month. The Santa Clara Valley Water District is suing the state over a Flood Control project underway in san jose and milpitas. Work began along the boulevard. The mercury news report says in april regulators ordered the Water District to restore their wetlands or creeks. Elsewhere in the south bay to offset the environmental damage to the creek. But the Water District argues the project was already approved and the new demands are illegal. Three family members are behind bars accused of stealing more than 3,000 worth of lingerie from two victorias secret shops. Walnut creek Police Arrested them after pulling them over in a stolen mercedes. Police found 3,200 worth of lingerie inside that car, which had been stolen from victorias secret. Police are asking for the publics help in locating four men who carried out a smash and grab Armed Robbery at a costco store in foster city. The brazen robbery happened at about 11 00 yesterday morning in front of other shoppers. The men were wearing masks, one had a handgun and they smashed that glass door encased with hammers, stole items, and ran out of the store. This follows two similar robberies at a costco in danville. Google announced they are halting a controversial practice of scanning users e mails so they could target them for advertising. The mountainview company has used that practice to finance their free gmail service, but they will stop the practice later on this year. Gmail is the Worlds Largest e mail service with more than a billion users. They also have more than three million business customers who pay to use gmail. They have never scammed email users and they are phasing out all the practices together. The nations Largest Health Insurance Company has agreed to settle a Class Action Lawsuit filed after a 2015 data breach. Anthem incorporated will pay 115 million to settle the claims. The hacking exposed the records of almost 80 Million People and the settlement is said to be the largest ever for a data breach. The money will pay for two years of credit monitoring. The deal still has to be approved by a federal judge. There is word tonight wal mart does not plan to put in a competing bid for whole foods. Amazon offered 13 billion for the supermarket last week. For the second time in three days, Uc Berkeley Police are investigating a deadly robbery. It happened at 2 15 this morning. A man was sitting in his car when three men came up to them. One got in the car while the other two pulled him out of the car and robbed him. The victim escaped with minor injuries. A Good Samaritan helped call 911. There was an Armed Robbery at the same location early tuesday that ended with a woman being shot in the leg. In San Jose Police say they have confiscated over 2,700 pounds of fireworks just days before the 4th of judgment they used social media as a tool to help find the fireworks including many considered explosives. San jose Police Officers say they have been investigating the illegal use of the possession of the fireworks since april. Officers say two people have been identified for distributing illegal fireworks, but they have not yet been arrested. A first time contestant is taking home the coveted title of worlds ugliest dogs. These go for about 250. Where they will have a great view, they go for about 2,000 to 3,000 a spot. It looks like a lot of fun. I have never seen anything like that. The tallest building west of mississippi opened its doors tonight. The will shire grand Center Downtown l. A. Celebrated its official opening with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony and a light show. Its 1,100 feet tall, 73 stories, developed by korean air and costs more than a billion dollars to build. The building features more than 900 hotel rooms and office space. The developers claim its 30 feet taller than San Franciscos new sales force tower. Well the average cool down has arrived here in the bay area with a long stretch of temperatures up above 100 degrees. Today just some low to mid90s out there and that is just about it. So a big drop off in those numbers, all because of this with a fog making their comeback coast side and right around the bay and a pretty good breeze as well transporting some of the fog over a good portion of San Francisco and pushing locally back into the bay for your friday night. Current numbers out there right now, San Francisco at 56. San jose checking in with 65. Livermore right now in the upper 60s Still Holding on to 71 out towards concord right now. Wind speeds, youll see winds and most areas around 13 miles an hour except out towards fairfield gusting up to 37 miles an hour. A bit of a breeze out towards the delta. That marine layer will deepen and help cool us off even more as we head towards saturday, but especially by sunday and early next week. This big area of High Pressure was in charge of our weather for the past week. Itll begin to relax, actually started to relax today and that trend will continue to weaken for this weekend. So tomorrow temperatures are inland just close to 90 degrees, upper 80s close to 90. Around the coast mainly in the low to mid60s. More of a drop off in the numbers by sunday and monday as we head into early next week. So no major heat in our forecast, no heat advisories or heat warnings. Here we go tomorrow morning showing you some fog near the coast and near the bay with some high clouds working their way into the area by mid afternoon. We will need to keep an eye on the moisture. Last sunday night they triggered some thunderstorms out there right now. The forecast model will be generating the storms. It is still something we will be watching with the radar.
