But this power outage couldnt have come at a worse time. Livermore was in the darkness around 4 45 sunday afternoon on a day where temperatures soared above 105 degrees. Downtown looked like a ghost town and restaurants sent staff home. We still had the restaurant half full at 4 00 in the afternoon. So we had to get everyone paid out manually and get them out the door and cleaned up. Then we kind of sat around and waited to see if the power would come on. Sometimes they say 8 00 and it comes earlier, so weve been waiting and waiting. Reporter after several hours leanne decided to pull the plug. Power could be restored later tonight. Right now food will be lost as well as revenue from diners. So we have to put everything on ice ask and we called in all of our staff early tomorrow to come in early tomorrow. Weve got to dump anything thats no good that didnt make it through the night. Reporter meters showed readings. They got the message as they walked into their steamy martial arts studio. No power. Looks like its been out for a couple of hours. Reporter the outages were separatic. Neighborhoods scoured the area restoring traffic lights into service. But on this day business has suffered. So what do you think in terms of how much business there is that you lost . That sort of thing . It happens every year and we deal with it. Pg e, it takes a little work, but they will pay you for it. Back here live you see some of the traffic lights are working, but again the power grid seems to be out in the downtown core. Right now we understand this is the hardest area hit. We dont have any definitive timeline yet from pg e when power will be restored to this area. Freeland photographer Andrew Leonard spotted the damaged sidewalk. So he stopped to take this video. Theyve experienced sweltering conditions over the last few days. Concrete expands when exposed to extreme heat for a long period of heat. And also in santa rosa the extreme heat did not make it easy for firefighters battling a blaze at a mobile home park. A woman died in the fast moving fire. She was trapped inside her home. New at 10 00 ktvu Azenith Smith is live in the newsroom with the latest on the investigation. Azenith . Reporter ken and heather, the Fire Department had a lot of firefighters out there to fight this fire given the heat. It was 102 degrees when this fire happened. Authorities are now trying to determine what caused the double wide mobile home to go up in flames. I heard her scream. When it went up and there was black smoke and the fire came out. All you could hear was that woman screaming in there. Reporter neighbors recall the terrifying moment a fire ripped through this mobile home, killing the woman inside. But the fire leaving holiday smith shaken up. Its awful. I watch tv and see things on tv, but never in a million years would i imagine. Reporter fire Officials Say around 12 30 this afternoon they were called out to the mobile home on b. J. Avenue. When they got there the fire spread so fast. There was little hope of rescuing anyone inside. Firefighters were able to get it under control in 20 minutes. The whole awning went up quick. The back of the house was on fire and engulfed in flames. Reporter Authorities Say the fire started in a rear bedroom. The cause is unknown. The husband and son were able to escape the flames. Rachel meyer says the fire was too intense. By the time i got there it was too hot for me to get in. Reporter meyers says the victims husband tried to rescue her wife, but she was trapped in the master bedroom in the back of the mobile home. While the hot temperatures didnt tribute to the spread of fire, firefighters called in more personnel in triple digit heat to rotate crews out. Because of the heat today. Right now its at 102. We have more rigs in here because we need the manpower, more than we need the equipment. Reporter they believe hoarding may have taken place causing a lot of materials to burn. For now neighbors are trying to cope with the tragic loss. Im really sad. Yeah. I knew the woman that was there. She was my friend. Reporter neighbors tell us the victim had lived there for 26 years. Reporter today temperatures are showing an exceptional heat event area right around 101, but today were talking about temperatures upwards of 106, maybe even 107. So take a look. A lot of records to report. Mountainview 101 degrees. Santa rosa at 106. San jose 103 degrees. Both Oakland Airport and sfo in the upper 90s. San francisco downtown in the upper 80s. More reports for san rafael, livermore, kentfield, and richmond topping out in the 92 degree mark. Highs this afternoon you can see widespread across a good portion of the region. Widespread triple digits towards napa, livermore, and antioch, san jose, 103 once again. Oakland 93. San francisco has cooled off to 68 degrees, but the heat advisory, it is still up there for portions of the bay area. Also a closer look at your forecast highs. We are following developing news out of london where at least one person has died after a vehicle plowed into a crowd of people near a mosque. Police are calling it a Major Incident with a number of injured people. It happened near their park in north london. The neighborhood has two mosques and several hundred worshipers in that area after attending prayers as a part of their holy month. The crash happened around 12 20 a. M. In london. London time monday morning. One witness described what he saw. And just as you could see three people. There were three people. Three people in the van. One was passed by the police. And two they were taken away. Earlier this month you may recall they veered into pedestrians on London Bridge setting off the vehicle and knife attacks that left eight people dead and many others injured on the bridge and in the nearby market area. Three muslim extremists carried out that attack were killed by police. Well now on to a shooting in the bay bridge that partially shut down the span for hours today. Chp say officers, they shot at motorists who sped down the shoulder right towards them. Leigh martinez spoke to a witness who said that male driver ignored multiple commands to stop. Reporter an Early Morning twocar collision on the bay bridge shut down all eastbound lanes a mile from the toll plaza. California Highway Patrol officers and caltrans workers were cleaning up the accident when a red cadillac started driving along the shoulder. This witness who asked not to be identified was two cars stopped away from the accident scene. Officers tried to stop the car. We saw the car coming, it raised the flashlights, kind of flashing the kind of raising their flashlights. They came to a stop as you would watch the female officer approach the car. I spoke to the other gentleman who was, you know, more on the crowd rules, standing there for so long. He mentioned he had a very good view of the window and he said that driver rolled the window down a few inches, to shine the light on him. We saw the two of you, roll back your window. We saw the flashlight. They continued to talk to them and drove away from her. Reporter the cadillac driver sped off on the shoulder. You could tell he was trying to get away. I mean, it was the same thing. He was trying to get away from the scene, from the officer. Reporter the witness told us a male officer was standing in front of the car ahead of his own not in the shoulder. The first flashlight warning, he pulled his pistol out and immediately started firing at the car as it was driving towards him. He started firing as it was coming towards him and continuing until it was driving away. Reporter multiple commands were given to the driver of the cadillac to stop. The driver kept coming, kept coming, drove towards one of our officers. Multiple commands were given. That officer fired several rounds at the driver. Reporter the witness said the shooting unfolded quickly and said chp is lucky none of the other drivers stopped on the bridge were injured. In his opinion fhp should have let that cadillac driver go through. He was shooting at the car in front of him. I didnt see the driver of the cadillac make any sort of motion as if he was going to try to hit the officer. Reporter our witness shot this video after the shooting. The cadillac came to a slow stop and after a few minutes the driver came out with his hands up. But he was leaning over as if he appeared to be hurt. According to his twitter account, congressman scalise was able to watch a game played last night by his college team lsu. The Charity Baseball game between democrats and republicans were played the night after the shooting. I was there with the 25,000 people that joined in. Again all four leaders were out on the field looking like they liked each other. At the end when the democrats won the game they gave the trophy to the republicans and asked them to put it in representative scalises office. Hodgkinson of illinois. All right, back now to our soaring temperatures. Officers in napa today rescued this dog stuck in sweltering heat. Someone saw the 5yearold terrier mix inside a car at the south napa marketplace and called police. The interior temperature of the vehicle were told had reached 136 degrees. Now i checked and im told the dog is doing okay, staying the night at the vet. But mark i was talking to police about this case. They tell me they got four calls today in just six hours of pets unattended in cars. They say please people if you have pets do not leave them in a car in this heat. That is a scary and unfortunate thing. It was 98 degrees just to be outside. Even on a mild day the car could heat up. A day like today were talking about heat warnings. Yeah, i mentioned you notice four calls that came in. Im told all of those dogs will be okay, so thats the good news. Just a heads up this heat is sticking around for the next few days. We will cool things off just a little bit tomorrow. But take a look at the highs for today compared to tomorrow. Santa rosa at 97, theyre still hot. But its better than 106. San francisco from 88 down to 76 degrees. Concord still triple digit territory and san jose down about 8 degrees from todays 103. And that was a record. Itll be the biggest factor for tomorrow cooling off the coast and parts of the bay as we showed you coming down a good 5 10 degrees from todays highs. Take a look at the power outages. As far as overnight lows first thing tomorrow morning some areas of fog near the coast. Temperatures were off to a mild start with a lot of 60s, a few spots around 70 degrees. Here is the plan for tomorrow. This forecast model is pretty aggressive with the fog returning. Could be locally dense, but a very shallow marine layer with minimal impacts on the triple digit heat inland. Probably a different day compared to today with a lot of sunshine and the warm temperatures out there as they put those colors in here with their temperature pattern in the mid to upper 60s for the coast and the bright red in the upper 90s to 100 degrees by 4 00 tomorrow afternoon. We have been advertising this in extended periods of hot weather. This will stick around over the next few days. They were two wonderful kids and a wonderful mom that worked hard to take care of them. Reporter arriving officers found a 28yearold man with selfinflicted injuries. Its the sisterinlaw husband of eight years. And if they found him in front of the house with a large cut on his leg. Reporter police are not yet saying if hes a suspect in these murders or not, but while hes currently recovering in a hospital, page says he and his wife will not visit him. Absolutely not and our family will not speak of him. He was not friendly. Reporter they have lived across the street from the family for four years. Shed always see the boys playing. When we first got here he was in diapers. Reporter she believes the 9 yearold boy was the stepson as she would see the real dad pick him up over the weekend. Reporter next week he was going to turn 10 and his little brother had only just turned 4. Very shocking. Nobody saw this coming. Well the jurors who deadlocked on the verdict in bill cosbys Sexual Assault trial got on a charter bus returning to their homes in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. The judge and nearby norristown, pennsylvania declared a mistrial yesterday after the jury said they could not reach a unanimous decision on any charges. Those jurors deliberated for more than 52 hours over six days. Cosbys attorney say they are disappointed their client was not acquitted. We hope the prosecutor changes his mind and he doesnt proceed forward. We think its time for these claims to be testified. The jurors were pulled from a county in the pittsburgh area. Thats because the defense argued pretrial publicity of the case would make it difficult to find an impartial jury there in Montgomery County where cosby lives. That case was being tried. The event starts at 5 00 p. M. Concord police have announced an arrest in connection to the deadly shooting yesterday morning neither brendan concord 13 theater. The search team went to their parents in oakley yesterday and they told officers their son was not there, but during the search officers broke windows, mirrors, doors, and shot and killed the family dog after they fought with a police dog. Later they learned the suspect was in a car crash and had actually been taken to a hospital. He was arrested and in custody. Tonight his name and the name of the victim in that shooting have not been released. Searchers say a 12yearold girl turned up today after anight alone in the after a night alone in the hills. Laura wilson went hiking on a property near upper zion road. The mercury news reported she somehow became separated from her adult companion. The Santa Cruz Sheriffs Office said she was found by a neighbor in the area and was being checked out by medical personnel to make sure shes okay. Well tonight were hearing from an eyewitness that deadly workplace shooting in San Francisco last week. Ktvu amber lee has thatfirsthand account now to the shooting that killed three ups drivers and injured two others. None of the men deserved to die. Reporter ups driver sean coats considered the four co workers who died wednesday his friends including gunman jimmy lam. Im trying to work through it to do my best. Reporter coats is among 30 plus drivers in the morning meeting when jimmy opened fire. Everyone was standing in a semicircle. Jimmy was in the back. Out of the corner of my eye i saw somebody push by. I looked over and it was jimmy with his arm stretched out straight. With what looked like a handgun. Reporter coach said lam walked past a number of drivers before shooting at benson louie from behind. Lam shot two more shots before walking near wayne chan. I saw wayne fall. Reporter coats said everyone scattered. He ran into the nearest truck. As i went into the cab i went over to see where jimmy was and he was walking this way. We made eye contact briefly. Reporter coats got out of the back of the truck and called 911. When he was exiting the building, he says he saw jimmy walking back inside. And i got really scared. Reporter the focus jimmy showed as he shot each driver seemed to indicate he targeted his victims. Because he passed other people to get to people. And its an assumption he was targeting specific people. Any idea why . No. Thats what makes it more frustrating. Reporter he last spoke to jimmy the night before the shooting. They joked and they laughed. No indication of what was to come and that he didnt know of any dispute between jimmy and the victims. Why these guys . These are great guys, they are the smiling guys, the laughing guys. Reporter benson and wayne were mentors to younger drivers. Confusion, frustration, sadness, anger, everything, you know, you want to know why. Reporter hes been off of work since the day of the shooting. He plans to be back on monday, but says hes not sure he and other ups drivers tell me theyre grateful for the support they receive from family, friends, and the public. Many of those victims became trapped in their cars as flames swept over the roads yesterday. Hundreds of firefighters are still working right now to put out the fire. Theyre calling it the biggest tragedy the country has seen in years. The Lightning Strike is believed to have sparked that fire. New details on the massive london highrise fire. They believe the exterior of the 24story building contained insulation that helped the flames spread rapidly on wednesday morning. Washington post is reporting two british prime ministers said the new exterior clouting used in a renovation on the tower may have been banned. Police are now investigating. The u. S. Navy has confirmed in all seven missing sailors have now been found dead inside their damaged destroyer. We are learning two of those sailors were from the san diego area. With more on the collision off japan this weekend. Reporter the search for seven navy sailors missing since Early Saturday Morning is called off. Efforts to locate them ending after bodies were found inside uss fitzgerald. The destroyer suffering major damage when they collided with the cargo sip had off the coast of japan. You cant see most of the damage. The damage is underneath the water lines. And they are near the right side. Most of the ships 300 crew members were sleeping at the time of the Early Morning crash. Two sleeping compartments were affected as well as the machinery room. It was a Significant Impact where the crew had to fight very hard to keep the ship afloat. Reporter damage is also evident on the acf crystal. The other vessel involved in the incident. The container shape is four times the size of the fitzgerald. Cons conditions were clear at the time of the collision. The ship is salvageable. Its extensive though. Itll require some significant repairs, but you will see the uss fitzgerald back as one of our warships here, but it will acquire some time. Reporter it is still unknown how much warning the crew on board the fitzgerald had. But its said to have been tremendous. In new york leah gabriel fox news. Temperatures are soaring back up and by 2 00 to 4 00 there we are in the mid to upper 90s approaching 101. By 4 00 tomorrow afternoon. Outside right now a live camera looking towards the golden gate bridge. Were showing you this camera because we could have areas of dense fog for parts of the shoreline. Overnight while youre sleeping thatll be the the biggest mechanism to cool off the coast for tomorrow and also the bay side locations as well. But cooler does not mean cool. They will shave off a few degrees from todays highs. The current numbers are out there. Take a look at antioch right now in the upper 80s. 88 degrees. Livermore 81 right now. Concord at 85. Santa rosa 76 degrees right now. Mountainview mid70s. San jose in the lower 80s. Heres the deal out here in the pacific with mostly clear skies out there. In fact weve got some thunderstorms developing in the sierra today. We have this fog bank out here in the pacific and the key for us is a change in the wind direction. So more of an onshore breeze. Thatll set up the stage tomorrow for a big dropoff in those numbers, but were still talking about temperatures inland close to 100 degrees. This heat advisory in place for tomorrow, tuesday, wednesday, and into thursday as well. Thursday will be the hottest day of the week possibly even hotter than today. Here is the area of High Pressure in command of our weather. We talked about that breeze kicking up. Cooler for the coast and the bay tomorrow, but then as we head towards thursday, that high will actually amplify. Heres our thinking. Slight cooling into tuesday. A little bit warmer into wednesday. Thursday will be very hot and then finally past thursday well scale back on those temperatures to set up the stage for a cooler weekend. Here is our forecast models showing you this dense fog tomorrow morning near the coast. Possibly just a few patches. These brighter colors do indicate the upper 90s close to 100 degrees. Tens of thousands in the dark right now after a day of sizzling temperatures. Hello again im heather holmes. Im ken wayne. Well this fathers day was a hot one. Many people are without power right now as the heat wave continues to bake the bay area. Pg e is reporting more than 32,000 customers are without power at this hour. Keep in mind one customer could be anywhere from a home to a major business. More than 19,000 customers are in the dark in the east bay. More than 9,500 in the south bay. A little more than a thousand on the peninsula and the north bay. As rob malcolm tells us on this holiday for dad, many restaurants in downtown livermore had to turn away customers. Reporter livermore was in the darkness around 4 45 sunday afternoon on a day where temperatures soared up above 105 degrees. Downtown looked like a ghost town. And restaurants sent staff home. The restaurant was half full at 4 00 in the afternoon. So we had to
