The sad discovery happened just before 5 00 this evening at the relatives house on weiland way. At this time its unclear how long the girl was under water. Actually ktvus Azenith Smith is live now covering this story and joins us with more on the investigation. Azenith . Reporter heather and ken, police left about half an hour ago. I checked in with them and the girl is still listed in critical condition. Everyone is praying for the the best as police investigate. What went wrong . Tonight family members visibly distraught left this concord home headed to the hospital to be with the 1yearold girl found without a pulse and not breathing in a swimming pool. Neighbors are heartbroken. It is just devastating. I cant imagine as a mother and just seeing the little kids around here. Like how it would feel for their family. Reporter Concord Police say around 4 45 this evening an aunt reported her niece was missing. When officers arrived, they searched the home and found the toddler unresponsive in the backyard pool. Officers quickly pulled the girl out and began performing cpr. But with the parents permission, the 12yearold neighbor told us what she saw. She was pale and so loose. Her clothes were all soaked. And we just put on the floor to do cpr. Reporter the little girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Police tell us several adults were inside the home at the time while children were seen outside. Neighbors tell us the aunt noticed the girl was missing. Initially she thought the infant was lost and frantically searched the neighborhood. We tried to help her at the park, but she wasnt there. She went back to the house. Reporter police say a five foot gate surrounding the pool covering it, its unclear if the gate is left open or if one of the children opened it. He sees the children playing outside all the time. Its sad because i have four kids. Its sad for everybody. Reporter police call it a sad reminder with pool season coming up to not leave children unattended. If they are playing in the backyard to have adult supervision. A message these neighbors take to heart given what happened on their streets. Everyone has kids. Watch out for them. We hear about things like this all the time on the news. Being so close and it is just real. I cant imagine how they feel. Reporter we are told the family is cooperating with police. Police chaplain is with the family at the hospital at this time. Everyone including the officers i spoke to tonight are hoping for a good outcome. Ken . And as is everyone else. Azenith thank you very much. New at 10 00 a Police Pursuit in petaluma ended with the death of a motorcycle. Police said they got a call of two motorcyclists speeding up and down the street of adobe creek drive around 5 15 tonight. An officer arrived to investigate. One rider though soon stopped and the second continued. And lost control of his bike near browns lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The other motorcyclist was arrested on suspicion of dui. The San Francisco gay mens chorus has entertained audiences for decades, but its joy has turned to sorrow after a member died on stage during a concert. 39yearold ryan nunez collapsed and died. Other members and paramedics performed cpr, but he did not surprise. Nunez was a singer and coordinator for the chorus. Friends said he was larger than life, filled with joy, and always had a smile to share. Tim seleg is the conductor of the chorus posting a message on his Facebook Page saying, no one loved the San Francisco gay mens chorus more than ryan. The cause of his death is not yet known. An oakley man is under arrest after shooting five men at a weekend Birthday Party in pittsburg. The 23yearold suspect and his friends were asked to leave the party around 11 00 last night. Thats when the fight broke out and the suspect pulled out a gun and started shooting. Other people were able to detain that man until police arrived. Hes now in custody on suspicion of several felonies including assault with a deadly weapon. All five victims are in stable condition. A heart stopping moment for a man who jumped from his flaming secondfloor apartment in oakland. That fire broke out at a three Story Building there on 39th avenue just before 4 00 this morning. It was a frantic effort for those inside to try to get out and avoid those flames. The manager, he was trying to jump out the window because, you know, it was scary. There were flames and smoke everywhere. Ive never seen anything like that in my life. One resident was treated for smoke inhalation. Two apartments though on the third floor were severely damaged. Four others sustained smoke and water damage. The red cross is now helping the six families affected by the fire. Sonoma Sheriff Deputies arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a 13year old girl. The girl jumped out of a moving pickup truck yesterday morning on highway one. Then hid in some bushes. Deputies say 50yearold timothy marble called 911 and told them his passenger jumped out of his truck. When they arrived deputies say the girl came out of the bushes and told them he had kidnapped her, injected her with drugs, raped her, cut his name into her leg with his knife. She ran away from home thursday night after getting into an argument with her mother and he offered to give her to a ride at a gas station the next day. Hes now being held without bail. It is shaping up to be a big week in washington, d. C. With a battle to confirm judge neil gorsuch. Reporter the Senate Minority leader points out theres a first time for everything. The conservative judge doesnt have the votes to get to 60 to break a democratic filibuster. That means republicans need to drop gorsuch and pick another judge with input by the democrats. Come back off the tree, sit down, and work with us and we will produce a mainstream nominee. Reporter its almost impossible to find someone who says gorsuch isnt qualified to be on the court. The Senate Approved him in 2006 for his current position on the Circuit Court of appeals. But schumer says democrats turned against gorsuch during his testimony this time around saying he refused to answer the most rudimentary question about court cases. The democrats say it is highly unlikely gorsuch will get to 60 votes. That leaves mcconnell with the socalled nuclear option. That one showed going back to 2014 flynn earned more than 1. 3 million for his consulting work and speeches. Including the kremlin state sponsored Television Network rt. Last month they disclosed flynn was paid just over 67,000 for those speeches. Well this morning on cnn state of the union, congressman adam schiff said there may still be more connections to russia that flynn has left out as well. Weve also requested the background security documents general flynn filled out to find out whether he failed to disclose work he was doing as a financial agent of a foreign power or receiving Financial Support from a foreign power. A church in texas held its First Sunday Service after losing 13 members of its congregation in a bus crash last week. The mourning service took place. It was almost too much for those grief stricken parishioners as the first victims are being laid to rest. Police also continuing their investigation. One witness reported seeing a white pickup Truck Driving erratically before crossing over into oncoming traffic and colliding into that bus. 13 People Killed ages ranging from 61 to 27. The driver survived currently in the hospital. Investigators are looking into reports of him texting and driving. The Church Pastor told members to remain strong in their faith. President trump announcing today more than half a billion dollars in extended federal assistance is now available to help people recovering from the winters devastating storms. After five years of drought, they saw record breaking precipitation to allow rivers and creeks to break its banks. 274 million of that federal assistance will go to repair the orrville dam spill oroville dam spillway. It will help pay for the main spillways, debris removal, and repair work to the downed power plants. Governor brown asked fema for federal assistance last month in washington. The bay area residents increasingly are saying they want to move out of the area. 40 of the respondents said theyre thinking about moving out. Bay Area Council PresidentJim Wonderman says the bay has seen this before. In the dot com boom we saw the big jump, but then we lost 400,000 jobs in the bay area in a short period of time. Santa cruz police are asking for help to try to solve an Armed Robbery that happened at the 7eleven store on march 16. Two men entered the store just before 11 30 that night. One described as a young black man about six feet tall with a medium build wearing a black sweatshirt with a semiautomatic handgun. And anyone who thinks they recognize either of these two men in the Security Camera pictures are asked to contact the Santa Cruz Police department. Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash that left more than a dozen hurt. The westbound lanes of the freeway were shut down for two hours last night following that crash that involved several vehicles just after 6 00 p. M. Near the lone tree way exit. And and the chp said a total of 14 people were hurt including four children. Four people were critically injured. Officials say at least four cars were involved in the crash and ended up 300 yards apart. Emergency crews shut down the freeway so medical helicopters could land and as closely as possible to those victims. One of the critically injured was taken to childrens hospital. Oakland with two others taken to Uc Davis Medical Center in San Francisco. Theres no update on the condition of any of the injured. Thousands of people laced up their racing shoes this morning for the 8th annual oakland running festival. The event includes a marathon, half a marathon and a 5k kids fun run. Reporter and with that the big annual running festival got off to a great start. 10,000 athletes from 33 states are taking part in a unique race to sift through oaklands diverse neighborhood. Many running for fun, others for a cause. Bentleys school is a school in oakland, a private school. We are running for the exercise, for fun, and then there was a student who had passed away this year, the beginning of the year and were running in her honor. Reporter whatever the cause the overcast skies for the bulk of the race were perfect forunners. Packed with all sorts of activities for the athletes. Some crossed the finish line.
