Ktvu Crime Reporter henry lee spoke with an Alameda County prosecutor today about how the public can help save children who are bought and sold for sex. Reporter im joined by teresa, tell me about sexual trafficking. We had several teens rescued, a couple arrests last week. How important is it for people to speak up and Say Something if they see potential victims of sex trafficking . Henry, its so important. We know here in the bay area and specifically in oakland we are one of the hotspots in the country for sex trafficking of our teenagers and our children. What we want to get out to the entire community is if you see something that you know is not right, so you see a young girl on the street in the middle of the school day, on international boulevard, if you see kids being shuttled in and out of hotel rooms, if you in your gut feel that theres something where a child is being put in danger, a child might be trafficked, call the police department. Oakland police hes really engaged in the fight against sex trafficking of children and they will know how to respond. So if you see something, please Say Something. You may be saving a child from sex slavery. We saw a big push around the super bowl not just here in Alameda County with the d. A. Nancy omalley but many district attorneys at all across the bay area, getting this out on the forefront. This happens yearround, throughout communities, throughout the bay area and people may not realize it . Absolutely. Its happening every day. What people dont realize is it is happening in their community. We see it in oakland and also in pleasanton, we see it in livermore, we see it throughout the state of california. And anywhere that you live, it may be happening. So we want schools to educate their children, we want parents to talk about it with their families. And we really want our community to be engaged. Reporter and of course people who are prosecuted in general, there is an actual sex trafficking statute, not just kidnapping, they could face a range of felony charges. Absolutely. Very steep penalties and years in state prison. We at Alameda County das office were just budget a proud about prosecuting not only those who are trafficking in these children but also those who are purchasing children for sex. And that is the other message that we want to get out, do not come to our community to buy children. And do not sell these children. It is modernday slavery. And Alameda County district attorneys office, we have an entire unit dedicated to prosecuting the offenders and also henry, just as important, we are working really hard to help the survivors of sex trafficking, help the children regain their lives, regain their dignity, be able to survive and also to thrive. Reporter tracy, thank you for taking the time. Appreciate it. Police in san leandro asking for help. Well tell you about the search for 3monthold puppy that was stolen at gunpoint from a boy. Heres what happened. Monday night, police say the teen was walking my on dayton avenue. Thats what officers say he was approached by two men in their 20s, one of them pulled out a gun and demanded the boy give them the dog. The suspect took off in a light colored vehicle. So a nicelooking day today, kind of cool out there, temperatures as we move into the next couple days are going to gradually warm up a few degrees and thats because its been so chilly. Remember last week at this time . Temperatures easily into the triple digits. Even some record warmth. 75 in napa, 78 in fairfield, high temperatures tomorrow about the same. As we head into saturday and sunday, temperatures, but a little bit. A live camera shot. San francisco fog rolling in but its patchy, not quite as its not one solid back right now. I suspect by tomorrow morning, it will cool off and come together a little bit. Theres high clouds other too. But no rain in the forecast, just more of the same. More of the same being more cool to mild weather, more fog in the morning, more sunshine in the afternoon. Winds along the coast right now are relatively light for this time of night. Current temperatures, 5090 livermore, 59 walnut creek and related to this, so thats been all week. And then its going to do this, pinch back down, reverse and were going to be set up with warmer starting saturday, sunday into monday and tuesday. Not hot. Last week pinched down to the point we were seeing record numbers. Record heat. Now its going to pitch down to the point there will be enough of a sea breeze, the fire danger will stay relatively reasonable. And temperatures will be just a bit warmer. So low 90s instead of low 100s. Like we saw last week. The low Pressure Center sticks around one more day essentially. San francisco tomorrow, patchy fog, thats your sky cover in San Francisco and in oakland for the most part. And then at lunchtime, 60 degrees. San francisco at 64 and sunny in the afternoon. High pressure builds back in and we start your bay area saturday warmer although friday, not bad. 80 degrees out there ins 79 in livermore. 82 in morgan hill and 83 in gilroy. Theres the fiveday forecast. Mild on friday, warmer on saturday and sunday. So you see the temperatures worked their way up into monday. Talking about temperatures that are going to be basically warmer than they have been, last week was chilly too. We saw sunday and this weekend is going to warm up a bit. And stay warm for a little while but just one more day tomorrow a lot like the day we had today which was a lot like the day we had yesterday. Sunday looks perfect for game six. Do they play outside, frank . [ laughter ] thanks, bill. Coming home to san jose. They are. I said cleveland earlier. When it is superhot outside, tough to keep the ice yeah. All right. What do you got, sharks . Staved off elimination. Yeah. Frank listens to all this chatter, listening to the radio earlier today. One of the shark commentators saying it doesnt matter the sharks have not scored first a single time in this entire series. I disagree. I think its important to set the tone and keep yourself a little breathing room. The sharks for the first time do it. They know they had to in pittsburgh. It was all set up for the penguins to have that stanley cup in the house. And go away with it. However, just 1 04, sharks in the game, letting everybody know they will be heard from first tonight. Brent burns on the weak side, 1 0. First time in this series, first goal. 1 49 later, justin braun lets it loose. Logan couture with the redirect. Watch it here, just a beautiful bit of coordination. Try doing that, 20. Pittsburgh quickly retaliating. They score once and now nino benigno, nick bonino blasting away, deflecting it in. We have 22 and they are going bonkers back in pittsburgh. Still in the first period, Melker Karlsson off a great blind pass from couture, 32. Take a look at that one again. Watch cult were here just blindly get it into the middle. Into the scoring lane. And that is converted. Then the story becomes none other than martin jones. Spectacular after settling down after the first 44 saves, that the franchise best for a playoff game that went regulation, joe pavelski hit with a puck, hes a tough guy. Wrap him up. Comes back, wrapped up, a tough empty netter. That wasnt just one of those gimmies. Find a couple minutes, 42. And emotions to say the least running high. Imagine how it will be sunday. Sharks back in the series, 32. Stanley cup in the house at the tank. The ubiquitous joe fonzi, cleveland last night, pittsburgh tonight. He has this report. Reporter down 31 and in hostile territory, it would have been very easy to write the sharks off tonight. In fact, many people did. A huge crowd gathered outside the arena. Probably more people than inside hoping to celebrate a stanley cup championship. Instead, the sharks refused to be eliminated, largely due to their efforts of their goalie, martin jones. The sharks were outshot 4621 but jones made 44 saves and earned the gratitude of his teammates. Yeah. He was great. He really bailed us out tonight.
